It would be good to see it in action with a big hoppy beer. Great vid. Thankyou.

I have one of these and it works great! My only complaint is that after I pump my wort from kettle to my Unitank I have a bunch of wort that is left inside the filter and then plus what’s in my lines. It’s almost a liter loss of wort. You guys have any solutions/ideas other that having to brew a extra amount of wort? Some sort of hook up for an air line to push the wort out without damaging the filter?

Which OD did you guys end up getting? What is the difference between a smaller one vs a larger one?

I’m looking into one of these, thanks for the info. I believe there is a hose clamp around the condom, I mean screen, so nothing gets under it.

I just bought one. How did you mount it to your brew table?

Hi. I've looked at this filter a few years back, but I'm still not sure if it will do something for me since I use good brewing practise and have no problems so far. Cheers

Old Norse brewery Good point. Great brewing practices are essential to brewing in order to make the best outcomes possible. As noted by the end of the video, proper whirlpooling techniques will prove such filters unnecessary.

Smarty Pints Yes. That's what I do. Whirlpooling or just turn diptube up a bit so it don't suck in all the heavy troub. Anyway. Great vid as always. Cheers

I also agree with your comment until I started using a counterflow chiller. I normally had pretty good results with my wort kettle-to-fermenter transfers. When I added the counteflow chiller I found that my setup still pushed particles into the fermenter. Even with an otherwise good whirlpool, I would absolutely clog my counterflow chiller to the point of just removing the chiller from the line and waiting for the wort to cool down on its own in the fermenter, particularly with IPAs. I defer to the pic of an IPA they cut to for a moment in this video of the filter covered with hop matter. This filter (its on amazon) really helps with avoiding clogging the counterflow chiller and other narrow passages in the transfer and is the first to clog and be removed if necessary.

would it be convenient to use it after fermentation to eliminate all the suspended yeast?

Not sure this would be fine enough to remove yeast, I'm looking into filtering yeast out as well, because I plan on using fruits for flavoring. Everything I have come across are cartridge and plate filters

I’m curious about this as well. Not too concerned about yeast as I release that from the bottom of my Unitank. But more for fruit shavings or dry hopping from secondary fermentation.

@@DMCSerenity In order to remove yeast cells in which is typically 3-4 µm you would need a pretty fine mesh. If available, this would probably need quite some pressure and easily be clogged. In order to totally remove yeast you would need to gradually step down with several filters in line.
