For dry hopping, I use a keg with an enclosed hop spider with the dip tube running through it. The hops roam free on the outside of the spider and are then filtered out when I transfer to a serving keg. I have a Spike Flex and the Bouncer filter would allow me to dry hop in the Flex - definitely worth checking out. Thanks for sharing.

I personally use two small home brew versions of this filter. One is for filtering big sediment and the other for fine sediment. Usually gets the majority of it out without getting stuck transfer and helps clear the beer of hop/yeast sediment. I would definitely use that one when I eventually upgrade my brewing system.

I use a 1 micron filter from my fermenter to the keg. This is only on lagers and beers that I don't want sediment in. The floating dip tube of the fermenter helps with keeping yeast and hop debris out. All of my dry hop beer I use a hop sack to help with debris as well, this also helps with really keeping grassy notes down. To clean and sanitize the filter, I just go keg to keg. Then it will be sanitized and full of co2.

I’m still using a coverted water filter with 3micron disposable filters and it’s awkward and clunky to use. Looking to upgrade. Happy to see you filtering a hazy, lots of debate in that. I’m back to using hop bags for all my dry hops to avoid clogging keg poppets which is a big issue for me. Any debris at all clogs them up good and taking them apart without oxygenation is near impossible. Clogged kegerator is a embarrassing too.

I use the Bouncer to bottle my NEIPAs. Since I'm not working with CO2, I fill the whole sterilezed bottling system with preboiled water and hook it on the bottom of my FastFerment... Like this I need to flush the system with a bit of beer (~0.5l), but at least I can avoid oxidation as good as possible for this system. I found that the finest filter (white one) is best for my need - no impact on hazy appearance of the final beer!

Thanks for sharing this info. I use the BouncerMD version with the red filter. Like you said, it is nice for keeping the particles out of the keg. For me it is especially useful to keep the keg quick release from getting plugged during pressure transfer (~8-10 psi) or gravity. On another note, I’ve started converting my cold side tubing to EVA Barrier and DuoTight and I’ve noticed you have this in your brewery too. I’d be interested in seeing what you’ve come up with for connecting that stuff to typical accessories like bottling tools (counter pressure unit at MoreBeer -specifically), picnic taps, and even BouncerMD. BouncerMD comes with two different size sets of barbed fitting but nothing that would mesh well (ha, get it? mesh. filter. -eh well 🥸) with EVA Barrier. (Trying to standardize on 8mm OD). Sorry for the long post. Maybe a video idea?

I didn't realize I had a crack around mine and the seal became displaced when tightened. I ended up oxidixing 2 x 12 gal batches of NEIPA before figuring out where the air was getting in. I was replacing the seal when I noticed the crack. Worked great for first 10 batches are so.

I actually use a 10 inch inline water filter with a 1 micron washable filter. The advantages are that it never clogs and significantly speeds clarification as it even catches yeast particles (good if you have any yeast intolerance issues). Downside you lose about a litre of beer, but I account for that in Brewfather when I want to use it. Contrary to perceived wisdom it does not affect aroma or taste as I have split batch tested just that to check.

I'm not too worried about the filtering going to the keg but curious what anyone is using from filtering from the boil kettle before the chiller if using a therminator since hop particles like to stick inside of plate chillers. I've seen some guys use a hoprocket stuffed with clean steel wool scrubbers but haven't attempted this yet. I do use a hop screen if possible while its pumping into the fermenter. But still looking for ideas to help keep the plate chiller cleaner after boil is done. Even if using hop screens, there's plenty of trub flushing through the plates.

I bought one of the ‘standard’ bouncers for transferring my neipas from an idea similar to what you were thinking. However I commonly run into an issue when transferring with gravity. I typically follow your sanitize/purge procedure, then I will run maybe a quarter cup of beer through the line to remove oxygen. The issue arises when any bubble or air enters the filter. I will lose the siphon and it is extremely difficult to get it going again. I ferment in spike flex fermenters and they are only rated to 2psi so pressure transfer is not an option

I love my bouncer. It's such a great filtering unit. I need to figure out a better way to hook mine up to the SS Brew Bucket and Liquid ball lock post. I'm using 5/16 x 7/16 hose from brew bucket to bouncer, and then I have to reduce from 5/16 x 7/16 on other side of bouncer to the screw on jumper hose to the liquid post. It works but I feel like there's a better way. Not to mention, the ID of the hose is reduced on that jumper line. Feels bad lol. Cheers!

I have a small inline bouncer I use for my transfers, been super happy with it, and no to minimal issue with it getting clogged if you crash it before and go slow to start. Quick question for you Brian: The last part about the pump on the inlet side of the filter; I get where you are coming from, but what about particles getting stuck in the pump itself and clogging that up? This has been a debate of mine for a while and something I think about every time I transfer. Thoughts? Thanks as always. Videos are great.
