I've gone from not knowing what a burpee was to probably being overqualified to assess burpee technique in the course of this video *and I've still never done a burpee*

Yeah this was a lot of fun to watch Lee man. I’ve got no problems with anything said. The toe piece had me laughing too. I never look at my feet, so I had no idea what they are doing😂👌. This has been debated at length but there is certainly a difference in the 6 count and 1 pump, where often the line can be blurred, when speed and time become factors. I can certainly admit that of myself in the clips you showed here. I will say though, that Max has really mastered the timing on counts 2 and 3, so that he can achieve both a strict count, as well as move at a quick pace. And yeeeesss, I too eagerly await his response video👍. Lastly, no one does seal like Tjibbe! I think your form points were fair, but like you said, it works for him and he’s an absolute machine. The stamina he’s got for speed and high volume is truly impressive. Cheers man👊

Really enjoyed this one 👍 You should also do an analysis of yourself. I think I do burpees one way and then I look at myself on video and all my ideas go out of the window 🤣🤣

funny stuff. I do believe Gibbe mentioned a hip issue he has in one of his videos ages ago? could be wrong. David is a tall guy! Obviously you'll be doing IW as the exemplar :)

Great video. I enjoy watching all these guys. They are great at burpees and nice people. Art , Burpee King, and the world record holder would be some great guys to critique. I don't remember the WR holder name but he was on Tjibbe channel a while back. He has very wide feet in his burpees.

Glad to see you sharing your perspective on these form breakdowns, Lee. It's imperative to prioritize and emphasize form over proficiency, even though it isn't always the golden standard. Drawing from my own experience with disc degeneration and cauda equina diagnosis, which led to surgery before becoming a CPT. Nasm's perspective on avoiding repetitive exercises with high impact or constant flexion of the lumbar spine can interfere with the focus on longevity-a logical approach. Lastly, what I want to share is that despite my personal journey from a sedentary gamer to a military-conditioned athlete, it's important to note that following trends isn't always optimal. Advocating for proper education and an open-minded fitness approach is essential for overall health and conditioning. Wishing the community a path free from similar challenges-remember, in life's long game, balance and form are the keys; it's not a one-rep max or a sprint but a marathon. Avoiding blind adherence to influencers or KZread trends, let's prioritize a well-rounded and informed approach to fitness. Blessings on your fitness journey, and stay fighting the good fight. 🍀✌🏻

i'm 69 y/o, have trained my entire life and have dabbled with burpees, but wouldn't call myself any kind of practitioner. i always viewed burpees as kind of a miserable exercise that helped boost cardio, but never viewed them as a stand alone type of exercise. that is a bit of heresy on a channel like this. lee, iron wolf, Tjibbe, burpees king, moses cuevas, dave, busy dad etc. are all well beyond anything i can or ever could do in this regard. my caution to them is that burpees strike me as kind of a jackhammer exercise on all the upper body joints as well as the lumbar spine, as you suggest. i don't look at them as a sustainable form of exercise as someone closes in on their 60s or 70s. they're fun for younger guys to do in monster rep doses. i guess you only live once, so do what makes you happy, just beware that there could be consequences down the road.

Can you review Burpee King's rocking chair technique? I am tall, so bending straight down and jumping into the plank is rough for me. The rocking chair technique is much easier on my back and hips. I would value your input on this technique.

Thank you for the upload Brother! I personally think Max performs 6 counts more like one pumps as there is nowhere near enough time to allow kinetic energy to dissipate which means every single rep he performs is bouncing (redirecting energy & ergo not using more muscle generated force to transfer from one position to another): this reduces the additional amount of muscle force required to flow from one posture to another; what is his goal by performing the six count like this? if it is additional metabolic strain due to talking then ok, yet GRACE will have a greater metabolic effect on the body than that! His form looks good though do not get me wrong! Solid performance right there! Only watched to 04:25 thus far! Question: you know that: "knees over toes" is a good & healthy technique & like all burpee variations should be practised alternating from one session to another as it is best to have great knee & ankle flexion opposed to one or the other & you will save time during the week if you train both at the same time once per week at least, like anything you start small & build up :::)). If I have said anything offensive then please delete this comment Brother! Peace & Love!!!

A monster critiques other monsters. I still strive to have Sam Throssel form. The deep squat with as little bending over as possible is definitely more challenging IMO. Awesome video.

Careful guys. I got plantar fasciitis from doing too many burpees too fast. Also have some weird thing going on in my lat from too many pull ups. Back/ lat/ribs seize up at night. Currently cant't do burpees or pull ups which really sucks. Im only 34 but feeling 64 😢
