BOATS STRUGGLING AT HAULOVER INLET !! HAULOVER BOATS | BOAT ZONE

Ойын-сауық

Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

Suggestions for the "captains". From a long time on the water: Heed small craft warnings. Learn to read a tide chart. Especially before passage through an inlet. Learn to coordinate throttle with wave action. Every great once in a while, clean the foul off of the bottom of your hull. Clean means you are serious about what you do and not some jackoff. Great videos!

I have a 26 foot Grady white that we go through the Georgia inlets Savannah area often. I like the six minute mark where the guy stays in control of his vessel, but does not bang, submarine, or injure his passengers in anyway. I moved to the right. If you want to go around me knock yourself out. You can make up the additional time after you get through the inlet. It doesn’t make for good video, but it makes for safety and a longer lasting boat.

@@dalenifong2275 I hope your GW is old. The ones that they have put out the past few years are not built well at all. Dry laminate, resin puddles in other areas, no hardrolling, stringers not attached, huge delams and bubbles in the stringer laminates, loose core, sharpies all over from just spraying chop and walking away. Absolute garbage.

Captain on the boat at 1:47 mark in the video. Should be going a bit faster to stay on plain better. Going as slow as he is it's basically a "dip and sip" situation as i like to call it with those kind of swells. Especially, with an open bow rider.

One of the big reasons you need to have power matched to your hull, coming back in over a bar with a fast outgoing current and following waves takes power and experience, you need some speed to maintain control of the boat and need to modulate speed as you crest and go back down a wave, following waves in that situation should never be allowed to catch you, you can see the result, some of these people had a lot of luck on their side !!

I think if you have an open toed boat in conditions like this, you're taking on water! The only difference speed makes is how many of your passengers you lose overboard or in need of a back replacement!

You’re right on point. These videos perpetuate the myth that if you blast through this inlet or any rough wave situation, things will be fine. Not true - often picking a line and riding the waves at an appropriate speed is the proper way. I never hear of the term “stuffing the bow” until I watched these videos. A proper closed bow boat would just shed the water and you keep going.

If you think the Marlin should speed up, you are crazy. He is fine. And he had someone up fwd because there was something to deal with there. he is keeping slow and steady. Nothing wrong with that! It's an inlet! There are a bunch of yahoos who come on here as "experts" saying he should go faster etc. Sorry, that is bull. I have run inlets in motorboats, sailboats, and rowing boats. The latter two you are always slow. Guess what? It works. The powerboat does not need to go fast--it needs to be able to steer.
