I found a very broken E53 X5 with the N62 4.4 ltr engine. It had one window with no mechanism at all, propped up with wedges. Two floppy mirrors, one broken door handle and the engine bay was a mess, Fixed it all now and I love it,

Guys... it is a special car , even after 15 years more from now it will be even more special. For example bmw e30 , it's over 30 years old, but when you see her somewhere down the road , it makes you think... wow what a time machine . 8 second to 100kmh is totally enough for an suv that can be used as a daily . You don't need 2 km of empty roads to overtake someone . It has enough of torque for none stressful moving around city or highway 👌 also need to remember that first gen x5 is based on the best BMW e39 ever made 😁

Looks like your cluster bezel is not seated in all the way on the center twist lock because you can see the ''light bleed'' illuminating the up shift sign when your traction control light is on /tc off. Easy fix just take the cluster back out and with a pair of needle nose pliers pull the center twist lock and it will snap into place .

How fast it's going from 0 to 60 depends on the friction on the road and the additional weight (passenger, cargo..etc). That's basic physics. I don't think the manufacturer is intentionally deceiving the customers because it all depends how they test it.

However the Power of the v8 will rely in the 50-200km/h range...what all of the old cars are lacking is the good modern launchcontrol. I picked up my ML55 last week, boy they are very basic cars on the interior/exterior. Peak cheap 90s/early 00s Mercs. Handling is sufficient but very rigid going over rough bitumen, steering feels like a boat's oar floating in the sea. Runs 285s on all four corners. The 4.6is seems like a better package all round. I'm yet to do a 0-100 time as there is a slight high RPM miss that I'm guessing is plugs/coils, so I'm waiting on those to arrive. Having done a few thousand myself in a variety of cars I’m Just saying from watching the video it didn’t look like you’d let it stall long enough. You can load the converter up much harder in the heavy car and get a great launch. But it may just be the perspective of the video vs being sat in the car. But didn’t even look like the revs had stabilised before letting go of the brakes. I love your content and trust you can do the runs but just giving my perspective on what I’d seen here.

@@mwh2412 It may be the video messing with perception. On the same note we have found not letting the rpms stall on the converter results in a faster time than when we to hit the converter harder. Turbo cars are different btw. But NA engines, Im not sure if the additional load affects timing tables or what in the dme. But we generally try and release the brake 100-300 rpms before you reach the limits of the converter and keep the revs climbing faster instead of stalling at the limits of the converter. Have you ever tried that instead of fully leaning on the converter?

So in the worst case your car needs for example 6.5s but your app tells you it is 7.5s. So you need to do at least 20 runs and calculate the average. Maybe that helps everyone out there when measuring your acceleration time :)

Yeah that's not great. I've got an E53 diesel and it can crack 9 seconds if I launch it easy. The 4.4i on paper can do this run in 8.2 seconds 2000-2004 and in 7 seconds in the facelift model 2004-2006. The 4.8i will do the same run in 6.1 seconds

@@ZeroTo60Tube its an NA engine usually 10-15% more.. So 30 hp isn't out of the question. But unlike a turbo engine it won't be night and day difference, definitely an improvement though. If your afrs are way off(maf gone wrong even though it doesn't throw codes) , cats clogged, etc it'll be very down on power.
