I100% and he deserves so much recognition not only for his songwriting abilities and arrangement of his music, but just him as a person. I have followed Blue October from day one and most people know the struggles. He went through and to see him on top as great and I wish they would blow up because they deserve to!!! ❤

Approaching Normal, by far, one of my favorite albums to ever exist... the emotions in each song are just amazing.

I definitely have to agree with that statement. He's a wonderful person who has been through so very much and has still come out on top. Personally, this song has my abusive ex husband all over it. To Justin it obviously is personal, either his first wife or record label.

My mom would listen to this band so much, years ago. I had this song stuck in my head and I looked it up. I was so shocked and surprised to see how little views they have. They're so good bit extremely underrated. The world probably doesn't even deserve them anyway.

This just randomly popped in my head and I got so hype. Into the ocean has been the main song I remembered from them but this was the first. So many good times random sprinting to this song

I'll never forget when I told Justin that this song helped me get n stay away from an asshole, he stopped signing, looked me right in the eye as he put out his hand to shake mind and said thank you." got to check that off my bucket list that night.

And that's not to say that everyone else's meaning doesn't matter because IT DOES! WE ALL MATTER, GEORGIE!! EVERY FRICKIN ONE OF US MATTER!

Blue October are so great because of the simple fact they are real. Unlike most musicians today this band simply uses real instruments, doesn't autotune, and have real heart in their music. Why can't more bands today be like them?

this is quite simply a brilliant song, and deserves more credit.

To me this song is about my ex. He stole from everyone he has ever known. The people that helped him. I recently found out he stole my dad's knife collection worth over a grand. My dad took him in when he was homeless just to be robbed! The low life stole our kids Xbox and games, my jewelry and money, from his mother....I would give anything to toss him in a dirt room.

There’s no such thing as a “real meaning” to music. Art is supposed to be interpreted, and it can’t be defined by any one person’s interpretation, including the artist. Now obviously this may be WHY he wrote the song, but the meaning will never be one thing.

Memory could be wrong, but I think it was Seal who once said he didn't print the lyrics on my album liners, because what you thought he said and what it meant to you was just as valid and as powerful as what he intended.

No, its about their fight with "MR" Motown Records as seen on the hundred dollar bills that was burned. Blue October didn't like some of the decisions MR made and this song was their way of expressing their anger. They even got in some trouble over it. The lyrics are pretty clear like when he says "Time wasted making you rich" and "you took the food off my family's plate" he is referring to money he believes MR took from them.

Flags are governed by a flag code which has no actual legal bearing on citizens. IIRC it can fuck with military personnel but that's obviously a different ballgame.
