Bizarre Copycat Dinosaur - ‘Hellboy’ - Helped Paleontologist Propose To Girlfriend

Ғылым және технология

The Ceratopsoid dinosaurs were incredibly diverse and common animals throughout the Cretaceous period. However, despite what I just said, the group is incredibly weird compared to pretty much every other dinosaur group during the Cretaceous period for how relatively isolated they were. They are pretty much only known from the western half of North America - from Alaska to Mexico. Only one member of the advanced Ceratopsoidea is known from Asia, and none from any other continent. I preempted the last statement with “pretty much” because there were other types of early horned dinosaurs living across Eurasia and there are tantalizing hints of some in the eastern half of North America - however, these critters diverged from the horned dinosaur group long before forms such as Diabloceratops or even the much later Triceratops. Most other groups of dinosaurs during this period of time were present across many continents. Hell, even the Titanosaurs - once considered South American endemics - were present worldwide. Why this is has a lot to do with geography and evolutionary pressures, but we’re not here for this today.

During the Late Maastrichtian Triceratops and/or it's kin migrated into eastern North America, when the epeiric seaway closed over the Dakota Arch.

I suppose it makes sense that some chasmosaurs would evolve to fill the vacant niches left by extinct centrosaurs. Maybe.

What museum has that display with the taxonomic tree of ceratopsian skulls? Because that's raw as fuck

Does anyone have information for Pachyrhinosaurs surviving until the end of the Maastrichtian as mentioned in the video? As far as I knew they disappeared in the mid-Maastrichtian (70-69 mya) in Alaska and Canada, just before the time of RegalIceratops.

because they just didn't need to, they were successful on the ground so why fly? they also catch flying insects with their webs and are really fast to escape

Did you delete my comment twice? I feel like it wasn’t that unreasonable to politely request that you communicate with the artists whose work you are using for free. I even offered to send you better quality images! I very much appreciate that you include credit within the video and at the end of the video (even though my name was WILDLY misspelled at the end like wth lol), I only asked that you seek permission first. If this comment is deleted again, that offer no longer stands.

Not at all, this is my first time seeing this comment. It must've been automatically flagged for some reason? Apologies either way. I try my best to communicate with as many artists as I can. I don't want a bad relationship with anyone. However, if I were to wait for a response from everyone I would never be able to make a video (using only 5 images from wikipedia, for example). That's why I provide as many credits in as many places as I can, and can remember. I also remove any art from an artist if they so ask (I have my own personal gallery of files to use). I apologize for accidentally adding in more letters to your name, it won't happen again.

@@EDGEscience No problem. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the initial KZread-induced confusion. Again, I do appreciate that you are one of the few to actually include credit in your videos! I recognize how much time and work must go into your content. It would just save some frustration on the artists’ end if you talked to us. If you get permission from artists whose work you use often, that can save some time, and will help you maintain relationships with artists whose works you like. Again, I would not mind sending you higher quality files to use if asked!
