Absolutely . He'd go onstage with a rough idea of what he would say ,but it inevitably ended up an inspired hilarious stream of consciousness, then he'd get back on the original thread of what he'd started to talk about. It was amazing how he'd take the audience on that journey making them weak with laughter in the process, absolute comic genius .

Billy is more than a comedian. He's a storyteller and a mindset that can see joy and humour in the littlest things. I can never see Soup Of The Day now without thinking of Octopus Arsehole Soup. 😅

Billy Connolly from 1990 to 1995 was simply at his best for me. The World Tour of Scotland is unbeatable 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

"Potatoes of the night" - omg! You would hope that was a joke but sadly, so many restaurants are so pretentious these days, you couldn't be sure. I guess they have no idea how ridiculous they are.

i did the eaxct same thing 20 odd years ago when i first went Ireland. i had visions of potatoes standing under gaslights in Dickensian london.

Without doubt the best, his 1994 DVD is brilliant!!! Potatoes of the night gets me laughing every single time!!!!!

Seen the big yin 5 or 6 times live and have been in physical pain with laughter. Man is an absolute genius and a Glaswegian to boot 👍🏻

Remembering what he said is difficult because he doesn't tell jokes, just reflections on what he sees around him each day. I wonder sometimes if he actually said what he says he did, or whether it's what he (and the rest of us) would love to have said.

I was the same when I saw him years ago. Can't just about remember one part of one story but that's it. And I was sore laughing by the end of it!

I’m glad I grew up watching this legend loved him when I was younger nothings changed he’s always had me in tears of laughter thanks Billy king of stand up comedy

Before he even started, in my head I was thinking " Potatoes of the Night" was a punk band from P.E.I. I saw in 79, somewhere. I was pretty close. And I think we've all had that waiter once or twice.

I saw Billy in my Hometown of Clonmel co Tipperary he was Brilliant.

I love how he cracks himself up and then he tells you what he was picturing in his mind that made him laugh.

First I heard was "riotous assembly" in the 70s and it was on an LP record. I howled and fell in love with this Scotsman's humour.

The latest in restaurants is "We only take cards" and a big glass jar on the counter full of cash marked TIPS right under your nose so you can't miss it. So now I who only ever paid in cash have to carry a credit card but also a little pack of Thank you cards which I sign and drop into their feckin jar.

I am in need of help please. I'm trying to figure out if Billy is the comic I'm looking for based on a story I heard on the radio one night while driving. He had a strong Scottish accent (This is why I feel it may be Billy) but I'm not 100% sure. He was telling a story that had the audience screaming from laughter. All I remember about the story was that it ended with these words, "A big boy did it and ran away". If this sounds familiar to anybody I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.

Spotted my first menu that had a QR code to their website for current prices. Just the names of dishes on there. I guess they want to be able to update them on a daily basis, should it work in their favor. Whenever any business doesnt have prices mentioned I immediately assume it's TFD.
