    Finally, an affordable (we hope) high capacity drive!! Took them long enough. That said, I bought a Cooler Master Oracle enclosure to quickly transfer data between multiple locations. But now that's done, it's just sitting there without a purpose. Any recommendations on m.2 drives that would pair nicely with it, to use as another external SSD?

    Superb presentation. This SSD's appeal to me is it's capacity, the main downside for me is the speed. Given it's hefty pricetag, I'll probably wait and see if a faster 8TB comes along. That's the plan, but I am an impulse buyer so....🤔

    Spec wise for me it's fantastic. Wish I could afford 4-5 of them or even one. No idea what the price will be, but I am guessing more than 0.60 cents that I currently have lol. But yes, it does look like a potentially a great drive not just for the specs, but perhaps hopefully to start a bigger push for larger capacity SSDs to finally replace (cost wise) larger hard drives.

    Not a very technical review. Interested in knowing TBW, type of nand, how long it can maintain its stated write speed, cache memory if any, etc. Not at all a bad overview, but I notice the makers do not offer much information about these drives on their product pages which makes me very hesitant to buy one. The overall quality of the basic review though was phenomenal and I liked it for that. Please do not hate me for being honest here, but I transfer 4TB per day (use the drive to move large projects back and forth via sneaker net) and really interested to know how long this will last in TBW?

    Samsung will have to seriously push their prices to make it a compelling buy, if 4TB Samsung 990 Pro gives 7GB/s r/w, they gotta make this T5 Evo cost no more than 1/10 of the price/capacity, something like 40€ for 4TB T5 Evo doesn't sound likely at all though

    Can someone explain to me the reason to have a high capacity storage drive so portable??? Why doesn't someone make an 8,10,or 20 tb ssd the size of a WD one book? (maybe 4"x8"x6" box). A high capacity external SSD would not have to be fast or portable if you just want to store thousands of files long term.

  • @StefanAlexandruGeogloman

    @StefanAlexandruGeogloman

    6 ай бұрын

    A high capacity drive should be at least decently fast - you don't want to take 2 days off to transfer the data. Also, if your main drive has problems, you want to get the data transferred as fast as possible. Very small is not really necessary but of course nobody will make the drive bigger just to be bigger. People these days don't even have laptops, some just tablets or just phones - a small SSD means easier use when you're using other small devices. For desktop users of course it doesn't matter if they don't travel with it. But the main thing that's just unclear even after all those years is how secure is having data store on offline SSDs since they loose the capacity to store data after months/years depending on the temperature.
