Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Follow along as we lay out the saga of "Lil Debby", the 1961 Cadillac Series 62. This thing came out of its resting place after 10 years of sitting. We are excited to start down the road of getting this poor thing back on the road. Many more episodes to come!

Gotta tell ya fella, for likens or any mould, use an antiseptic cleaner fluid with hot water and a good scrub. Leave for 2 days. The car will stink for a week or so, but in a good way. NOTHING will live. Stuff is cheap. Over here it's called dettol. Love the channel. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪

I was 3 years old when these cars were new - and had some plastic toy models (1/200th scale I believe) of this car - loved the fender mounted turn signals (amber lenses) this model was the last year before cornering lamps (touted by Cadillac as “the latest advance in nighttime driving”) were introduced on the 1962 models - the relatively good condition of this car is a tribute to the men who built her - the fit and finish, intact glass, chrome etc - I always imagine what these cars looked like as they came off the assembly line brand new - gorgeous detailed styling - factory air conditioning was still an expensive option in the early 60s and the technology and efficiency kept improving year after year

The vent windows in the front doors do not signify a 6-Window Sedan...rather the fixed rear window in the C-pillar on both sides of the car. The 4-Window Sedan for 1961 had the same vent windows, a wraparound rear window and narrow C-pillar, with the roof acting as a visor.

This is a well-optioned Series 62 with A/C being the most expensive option. Some buyers in those days didn't want the leather interior that came with the DeVille but insisted on all of the other upgrades.

I've got one of those beautiful girls to. I would use some mystery oil and atf to get it unstuck. Mines White with Black and White interior. The door panels and interior is in great shape ,just the headliner needs replaced. It's a tribute to my dad and grandpa. I'm gone to rebuild the engine over the winter and put disk breaks at least on the fronts. Caddy Daddy has rebuild kitsch for the water pump. I'll keep checking to see how your doing

100%.agree. Sitting here watching the struggle to turn that motor over and I'm yelling at my phone Marvelous mystery oil! Dump some in there with a little tranny fluid let er soak for a day. It'll bust those rings loose. Don't get discouraged by what you see in the valve train there. It's not as bad as you think. And for gawds sake don't put a friggin LS in there.

Hey, nice to see you save another car from the wrecker. You have your hands full with this one. Maybe pull the radiator to gain you more access to the crank. You have to pull it anyway to get to the water pump and probably have the rad rodded out. I just bought two of these, check out my KZread channel (Vintage Thunderbird Repair) and videos about my journey with my two 61 caddys. Ive been using Caddy Daddy and McVeys for parts. I also found a wrecking yard here in Colorado that has many 1961 parts cars, shown in my videos, that have some very nice rust free pit free chrome pieces, and many other parts that you could use. You cannot fix pitted chrome unless you have it replated and that is very expensive. I just started my journey with my two cars recently. I do Thunderbirds but I needed a break from those and wanted to do something new. I got lucky to find these two cars that were sitting in a warehouse for 30 years. I'm working on the gold one first and I got it to start right up. Got lucky. I'm sorry your having so many issues with getting yours running. I love the patina on your car, very cool. Id keep that. My gold one is weird, has primer spots here and there. My green one is cool though, at least the faded paint is consistent all around. Clearly you have OCD, old car disease. I have OGCD, old guy car disease. There is no cure. I subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to your upcoming videos. Very cool and interesting. Thanks for posting.

The more you want to restore this car the more you want to stick with the 390. However, if you want to make this a real driver and have fun with the car and not restore everything to factory, then the swap would be the way to go. Restored cars hardly ever get driven while modified cars do. I guess the first issue is how good the 390 is to better determine which way to go.

Pull the heads and see what the cylinders look like. Once you get in there, you can fill them with Marvel Mystery oil and see if it breaks loose. I hope you don't go the LS route on such a solid original car.

You might try putting some ATF, or Marvin's mystery oil to unstick that motor. She's too complete and original to molest her. I would pull it out and rebuild it. Make a motor is going to last a while. Then from bumper to bumper take your time and refurbish it. Wouldn't make a great daily driver. God bless

WD-40 won't help you at all. It's a water displacer, not a penetrating oil. It's barely even a lubricant. Use Marvel Mystery oil. Get a big bottle and a funnel with a long flexible tail to fill the cylinders and leave them for a week or two. I've seen engines in far, far worse shape break free using this stuff. I've seen people use a mix of Marvel and ATF, but I never used it. It's more to extend supply of Marvel than anything else.
