I'm almost certain you are having a heat soaking issue. Todays fuel is much more volatile and boils very quickly. I knew you guys would get it going. Great stuff as always.

ask Cad Ken for the rod measurement, or there was a guy up in Oregon I think that we used to get parts from, Ken had his contact info. It was Oregon or Washington. I had switched out my front sway bar with an ambulance/hearse sway bar from that gent. Larger diameter, I had reconfigured the geometry of the suspension when I lowered my 62, so the stiffer sway bar made it handle much better. Ken had hooked me up with him. As for the ignition problem, can't help you too much there, I upgraded to HEI, but if you dig into the H.A.M.B. board on the Jalopy Journal there's a lot of info on the Cad 390 ignition system and the in's and outs of trouble shooting. As for the possibility of junk in the tank, I did have the same problem, so I ran a small clear inline fuel filter up near the carb just so I could see if I was getting fuel and if there was junk coming in, and yeah there was. saved me a bunch of guessing. Keep on wrenching!

As you know I've got 3 of those Cattle Truck monsters gracing my abode, Here's a free tip from yours truly....when I had a pump to carb fuel issue I installed a see-thru filter. Cheap fix.. Saves your brain. This is better than watching Gilligan's Island reruns. luv always
