I’ve had my Nuobells for 8 months - and love them! Adjustability is unmatched. Take care of them (and why wouldn’t you?) and I don’t foresee any durability issues. Adjustables over 80lbs are bulky and impractical so I don’t ding them for that- 80% of lifters won’t go that high and the other 20% will do less than 20% of their reps in that range. I use some Pepins with 1” weights to make 90s-150s when I want to go there. Solid review.

@@RyanTreadaway maybe you are in a serious lifting circle. In 30 years I can’t recall seeing a female use an 80lb Dumbell- maybe a db squat. Certainly the 100s+ collect some dust. My point was 8 out of every 10 db users rarely use 80+, so having that built into a massively clunky adjustable is no big deal. My Pepins allow me to go up to 150 when I have the need.

Ryan, another tip to your viewers doing their initial setup is that some companies (ex. Smrtft) have their names engraved on the 4 outside plates, making it easier to orient which way the rest of them go. Another suggestion is to buy the stand. Makes your life MUCH easier than bending clear to the floor. The two legged stand is much more stable than what I've seen of the one legged stand, with almost zero wobble and only $10 more. Worth it! New subscriber after watching this video. I bought a set of green 80lb Nuobells a few months ago. My biggest complaint was the condition of how they arrived. The inside packaging was all destroyed. I had to vacuum everything prior to assembly and set up. I do like what I see so far. Super easy to adjust. Super easy to use. If you are careful, then I don't see a durability issue. If you are hard on your equipment, then the durability issue will come into play. The 80lb max weight serves the purpose for what I use them for. If I want to go any heavier in weight, then I'll put my name in the hat for the Iron Master adjustable dumbbells.

Great video Ryan! Similar to you, I’ve tried almost every single adjustable dumbbell. I’ve also had the Nuobell 80s. Several areas that failed for me was the handle mechanism did not turn for whatever reason (was able to get a replacement), the cradle tab that locks in the handle broke off, and the plastic connector pieces on the weight wore down which resulted one of the end plates falling off the handle. With these issues, I could no longer use this dumbbell. For me, I use a 5-50lb Powerblock and Ironmaster set which works best for me. One area I feel is overlooked in most adjustable dumbbells is the ability to rack it. Ironmaster is the best at this since it does not need to be nested in a stack of weights. This can be hard to do when placing 70 or 75lbs in the weight stack. Great video man and keep it up!

Honestly, Nuobells are not that good. 1. The machnism can break and so they don't work (which I've heard more than a few that has had happen) 2. The should actually tilt just very slightly, making them much easier to put from the top and down into position (similar to MX Select MX series, it doesn't have to be so agressive though) 3. The handle should 100% be longer, I simply can't stand that small midget handle xD ... my hand can be there just fine, but it really annoys me anyway that it isn't a standard sized handle Personally I'd always go with Powerblock over Nuobell, and also MX Select over Nuobell, but I'd place them third (for now, I have my eyes on newer adjustable dumbbells that might even take a shared spot with Powerblock on #1).

@@RyanTreadaway I would be ok with nuobells up to 50lbs. I believe the danger is in heavy weights greater than 50lbs as more force is placed on the last plastic connector piece which may not always but may cause a point of failure. I would like them to do an all metal design in the future. But I understand why they went plastic. The spring in the core of handle sometimes may wear and break, and with plastic connectors you are able to remove the pins on the top of the connectors to remove the plastic connectors. But you need to use a wedge to separate the plates first. With metal connectors this would not be possible and would be almost impossible to maintain or switch out the handle or weight plates if they were to break there up and downsides to the material they chose. Maybe not metal but a stronger material then the plastic they are using. The constant rubbing of plastic on plastic eventually will wear it down. And yes I had an official nuobells set.

If you ever need to repair or experience issues with your nuobells. The quickness in changing the weights were unmatched. I think norditrack came out with a digital/voice changing one but that issues. So nuobells/core fitness design would be the quickest changing by far

Let’s not try throw out all the instructions like a “dude” and then stumble through the setup as a result 🤣

😆😆😆😆 the card I through turned out to not even be instructions. I looked at it after the fact. It really wasn't the complicated at all in the end.

Maybe don’t review something you didn’t get your hands on. Then don’t review things you got for free

I didn't "review" anything I haven't had my hands on. I made a loose opinion based on talking to many people who do own them and watching many reviews on them. Getting something for free doesn't affect my reviews. I've said very negative things about things I've gotten for free. I genuinely love the nuobells and still use them today.

@@aliforever10 great! I haven't used them a TON since I have most of that weight range covered with fixed DBs but they get used semi regularly and have no issues.

@Ryan Treadaway That's great! Thank you for responding swiftly. I have powerblocks but I also want something closer to a traditional Dumbell and fast weight changes. Thanks again.
