This really is a well done instructional video. I’ll be hooking up my slayer this coming weekend with this upgrade. Can’t wait to see how she turns!

A note that others may find useful- I had an issue with the provided braid slipping off the steel cable on the first pull. After re-tying a few times, a drop of superglue finally held it in place.

Great video. I recently purchased a used Native Watercraft Slayer Propel 10 (not 100% sure the year unfortunately) but it looks identical to the one in the video. Would you know the best place to order this? Also, do you know of any upgraded steering handles?

When I bought my new Slayer 12.5 propell back around first of the year it had a red nylon cable .. should I just use it or should I use the new one in kit?

I got everything installed thanks to the video but something isn’t right. It feels extremely hard to turn outside of the water and when I loosen the rudder it turns a lot easier but then the whole rudder and steering disc is super loose. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Hi guys , I am trying to find out how the steering disc should be facing and how to run cords through. I.e what’s the top and or bottom. Thanks

I did a workaround to overcome the problem with the new lever control carrier that is larger than the one on my kayak (not Native). I merely melted them down on my original lever control carrier. I also found that Spectra cable is available 20 metres for around $24.00 (not $100) on the Internet. Save some bucks.

This is a new version of the upgrade kit. It will not fit on 2019 Native kayaks. If you ask for the upgraded part the owner of BerleyPro will literally tell you to "get fucked" as he did to me. Save yourself money and hassle and get the simpler and much less expensive steering upgrade made by Native.
