Beginner Beach Fishing: Catch fish fast with these baits! Cape Cod Experience

Ойын-сауық

There are so many types of fishing baits that will work well for beach fishing. We are testing our Squidy Bits versus frozen mackerel. A lot of times it depends on WHERE you are fishing. What kind of beach fishing are you doing? What kind of fish do you hope to catch? Ask yourself these questions then plan your baits and rigs accordingly.
Squid typically works well for bottom feeding fish, bluefish, and baitfish. I generally find much success with squid tipped on smaller hooks. If I have very fresh squid, I will throw it out whole on a big hook.
Frozen fish work well for big fish if there are a school of hungry fish nearby. Works well for bottom feeding fish, and baitfish. However the meat is soft, and crabs and small fish easily pick it off.

    The mackerels stomach acids break down the flesh very quickly after death. Mackerel freezes well and flesh stays firm if guts are removed shortly after death. If not you will just have a mushy bait which wont catch that well. The squid is excellent and would come recommended for some of the bream species in our waters though.

    mackerel always goes soft once frozen. It is a good idea to use bait elastic to secure your bait to the hook for casting & it also gives some protection against bait stealers. Another great vid by the way.

    For that frozen mackerel, sometimes works best to use those scissors and cut into 1/4 to 1/2 inch steaks with the bones. Helps keep the bait on your hook because it has something to hold on to.

I ended up fishing every night and tried in the morning . I used the frozen squid at night and in the mornings , tsunami jigs and a spoon . I pulled in a fish off the spoon but surprisingly not the squid . I’ve fished in creeks and fresh water mostly all my life but I want to try something different you know, that excitement of pulling in a monster or different species of fish . . Any advice or tips ? I’m also using an UGLY stick with like 12/15 line .. any advice on my set up ? Advice on best fishing times ? Your great man .. I’m trying to get like you when I visit a beach .

    You don’t really need to set hooks with circle hooks. In my experience, let it swallow the bait and reel in the slack line. It won’t gut hook because of the hooks bend, then it lodges in the mouth,usually corner.

    Geez what’s up with all the negativity in the comments! I mean if you don’t like a video, I have a simple answer, JUST DON’T WATCH IT! Obviously with the growing popularity of the KZread platform and constant demonetizing of videos, content creators need a way to fund the making of their videos, hence the “self-promoting” and sponsorships with various companies. Anyway, this channel is a true example of an informative, how-to, and hands-on approach to fishing, for entry level and intermediate level anglers alike and is helpful to many people! Also to the people that call these types of videos “repetitive”, let me ask you as an example, what number of “Catch and Cook” or “Bait Challenge” style videos are found on KZread? If there is a popular trend for videos on KZread, it is obvious that channels would to base their content on that trend? Rant over, Keep up the Great Content Brendon and Erin! 👍

    Agreed. Advertising too aggressively. I wouldn't mind a few short plugs here and there in videos but it's been constant and feels totally biased. Use magic thread/string on the frozen fish to easily solve the bait falling off. I love Senko Skipper videos but yeah not enjoying these squid advertisement as much.

  • @maremduc

    @maremduc

    Mother Goose Oh yeah, cause tackle shops always sell the freshest bait, right? No, It’s obvious that Brendan would have bought the freshest bait if the tackle shop sold it at the time! (Here’s a hint: Although tackle shops sell fresh bait they may only sell fresh bait when demand is high or when the bait is easy to obtain and therefore sell). Let me give you an example of a bait vs bait challenge video on this channel, “the Artificial vs. real Bloodworm Challenge”. In that video didn’t Brendon buy LIVE/FRESH BLOODWORMS?; the answer is YES, because the tackle shop SOLD IT AT THE TIME during striped bass season!

  • @maremduc

    Bobby Vang Yes, he’s advertising for a product that he is making, most likely because this channel needs the proper funding for creating quality content. With all due respect to all KZread content creators, how many fishing channels on KZread do you see asking for donations to their Patreon page or other donation platform site? The same reason that Senkoskipper advertises his products is the same reason that other youtubers ask for donations, in order to keep their channel running! People tend to forget that most youtubers with a large fan base/growing popularity focus their daily lives on creating content for their audience. But you also need to remember that KZreadrs are regular people of society that need a way of producing income for themselves as well. It would just be greedy for a youtuber’s fan base to continuously demand what type of content they should produce. All in all, the only thing that I could advise to you is to just not watch the videos. Of course KZread creators can’t please their whole fan base, but the least people (not you specifically) could do is not bash content creators on their personal/business decisions. Hope you have a nice day, FISH ON and TIGHT LINES!

    Marcko Duclayan I'm not bashing senko for this comparison or the one you referred to. Now in the bloodworms vs gulp through no fault of his own he's trying to edutain people so for that video he should have done it now and farther down the bay than where he was. The water was a little cool(48-52 degrees) and slightly brackish at best. Gulp is a flavor enhanced life that you have to present to the fish not bottom fish with. Right now if he headed south of the bay bridge and did bloodworms vs fishbites bag o worms it would be a different outcome. Now in this video he's on Cape cod fresh mackerel may be hard to find during this time of year in a baitshop however not at grocery store or seafood store. That's not a knock on him baitshops will let you purchase whatever you like and not say a word or even better hold on to prime bait for the locals and sell you whatever they want to get rid of. I've see it done on both sides of that situation. I've been surf fishing for 30 years so I kinda know what I'm doing every now and then 😉 and I'm not knocking him for his videos I prefer to reach out to him privately which I did for 1 of his earlier videos.
