Lure fishing VS Bait fishing! Fishing Cape Cod Canal

Ойын-сауық

We found great success fishing the Cape Cod Canal using the SP Minnow Lure during a moving tide, then throwing cut bait during the slower stages of the tide. Join us today and learn when and how to use both! It is a tough journey to land a trophy striped bass, hopefully our videos can inspire you to get out there and try for yourself!

In south Africa we use pilchard like the bait you are using... However when fishing for big fish we usually cut the tail and head off make a slit on it and let the hook sit on top and the leader lay in the slit and we cotton it up with ghost cotton or we can turn the pilchard inside out and cotton it up too... Biggest fish I caught though was a 60kg cob on the tail piece... Can't wait to go fishing after lock down... I love watching your videos man... Keep me coming!!!

Also… my father fishes the canal. He’s fished it for 30 years. Up here we call it “the ditch.” He typically fishes lures in the am early and bait during the day. We always drift our baits with the current. It’s more active but it’s more natural. Once in a while we may put like a 1/4 or 1/2 oz lead core sinker if the current is really fast but we usually fish closer to slack time when the current isn’t super fast. And small chunks not big. All some good tricks for the canal

Great videos. You went to some of my favorite spots when you were on Cape Cod. One of them used to be secret but not anymore. Careful reeling in those fish too fast while they’re pulling drag… if you get any stripers that are actually really big fish you’ll be apt to bend out your hooks. I’ve seen it happen before. Unless you’re changing out hooks and rings on sp minnows

Welcome to the CCC and my backyard . You were close to old pole 20. Try this area Sept.-Oct for the fall migration.A great time would be 5-6 am, New Moon, and a West changing tide.Your relationship with the public is exceptional.Your photographer is great . She has the ability to see what is to come 😃 and follows the action quite well keeping your audience always tined in . Keep Up the good work ..On to 200K.LOL

Just to let you know if you drive onto the other side of the canal where the power plant is there’s a drop off and big stripers like to hang out over there because there’s cooler water because of the power plant
