Beautiful Edging for Scarves, Shawls, Blankets and Cardigans

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hello, my friends. This week, we continue to look at the ways to improve our projects. If you plan to make a scarf, a shawl, a blanket, a cardigan, or any other project with open side edges, I highly recommend treating the edges of your project with Tubular Side Edging described in this tutorial.
This edging adds an almost invisible touch of elegance that instantly elevates the overall look of our knitted creations.
For more details about this method get the full tutorial at

I've been looking for a way to keep my edges nice and neat. Thank you so much for sharing this. 1x1 ribbing would work well with this selvedge technique.

This is a great edging. So many uses. How hard would it be to add buttonholes?

Hi Linda, I wouldn't add buttonholes directly into the edging. I feel they will look better if we place them next to the edging, at the very edge of the main fabric. This will create a delicate look, especially if the buttons are small. Happy knitting, my friend :-)

Hello, love your videos, you explain things very well. Wondering if you can do a video on how to do a folded hem on a top down sweater. Do you do the folded hem after binding off or with stitches still on the needle etc. Thank you, just a suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion, Fran. There are a few ways to do a folded hem of a top-down sweater. The easiest way is to simply stitch the fold to the sweater using the regular whip stitch. Or, you can use a method similar to the way we make tucks (the tutorial is at www.10rowsaday.com/simple-tucks) Good luck :-)
