My Great Uncle was a Beaufighter Pilot ( Rank Sgt P/O A ) for both RAAF 463 Sqd and RAF 108 Sqd in the North African campaign - one of 4 Australians in a Unit ... 108 flew Night Fighter patrols over Egypt, Libya, Malta, Greece and the Aegean generally. His personal file shows the destruction of Ships, Trains, motor vehicles and a Heinkel HE. 111 among other victims. T Through 1943-44, flying out of an airfield in Athens - after the HE. 111 was intercepted and destroyed - records state his Beau harassed a German retreat by strafing Railway and Motor Transport following this up with nightly 'Intruder Missions' over the wider Aegean ( Salonika, Crete, Rhodes, Melos, Leros and Cos ) - Nice to see the Beau getting some love.

The Australian version of the Beaufighter had 4 20mm cannons and 4 .50 machine guns. It packed a wallop.

any enemy aircraft unfortunate to cross the bows of a Beaufighter was in deep trouble

99% flying around haphazardly, 1% shooting at cannon fodder.

This is an early Beaufighter model, recognizeable by its empennage with no dihedral. These were preferred by some crews due to better manoeuvrability

That use one superb computer you have. The graphics are astounding an spool smooth.

Why did the condor cut the engine on fire and as the mosquito has extinguisher in its engines as seen in the film 663 squadron then why has the condor not have them

Rushed into service with inadequate thought or preparation for its role? The Condor was an airliner with fuel tanks in the cabin to enable long range.

Cheers :) The Beaufighter - One of my favourite aircraft of WW2. I'm glad I can fly it , even if its in sim format, better than nothing.

Fw 200 condors suffered heavy losses from allied fighters during ww2, eventually they were relegated as transports like on eastern front

Early model Beau I see - later marks had a dihedralled tailplane.

And regardless of mark - more than enough firepower to put a poor Condor down on one pass. Not a bad plane for something quickly redesigned from an okay torpedo bomber!

Several condors were shot down by RAF fighters during ww2, some others broke their backs on landings because of structural weakness

So what would the minimum specs be to run IL-2 CoD? (somewhat smoothly?) Thanx, I enjoyed the "movie" BTW

I think the idea of the layout was they had a radar operator who either looked out the window and spotted targets, or looked at the radar screen for ships and planes, he'd then advise the pilot a direction to fly.

Graphics pack upgrade for this game? I run a 980ti and my game doesn't look as good as this.

Have you upgraded the game to TF4.5? Its available on Steam now. Ti anything is going to be competetive against my single 1080, but I am not sure if Cliffs can support multi-gpu?

I dont know, but from flying the plane in Cliffs of Dover, it seems to have some propeller torque, so probably turned same direction.

I wondered because the P-38, with its twin Supercharged Allisons, turned one clockwise, the other counter-clockwise, and they turned into the center of the fighter, which made for a very stable gun platform.

Well, the aircraft was the first fighter produced by the US to exceed 400 mph in level flight and one of two to have a 20 mm cannon as a part of the group of guns, with 4 .50 Browning machine guns, the other being the F4U Vought Corsair, they had a limited number with 20 mm cannons in the wings.

Yes a very fast plane and a World speed record breaker at debut. From what Ive read on the air war over Germany, when the P38 first appeared it had some fearsome nickname like the twin tail devil or something, because it was so deadly, but as time went on and Luftwaffe models strengthened, the P38 became cannon fodder. I think the P38 is going to be in Bodenplatte, and may even be flyable in the game next month as the developers are releasing at least one new plane in May :)

Nope. There is a mod for DCS that allows custom skins, If I ever figure out how to do it, ill add them to some DCS planes :)
