Bass Time with the Harley Benton PB50

Музыка

I love this bass and it will come in very handy for the backing tracks I want to release.
Thank you very much indeed for watching and I hope you enjoyed my awful bass playing. : )

Ywoh , Ive watched dozens of bass demos for different bases trying to make up my mind on where to dip my toe in...as its my first venture into bass playing...today you hit everything impoetant and in such a cool unpretentious and unrehearsed way...you played PHilo and gave Gerry a mention as well as Sting..you hit 3/3 of my icons growing up in Dublin.. Love your demo ...i'm getting online right now to get me your recommended choice...its everything i needed to hear..thanks mate..keeping it natural bro..👌👍🙏

Really cool to see you on bass! I'm a big fan of those old school Precision basses too. Unfortunately I have small hands so I need to somehow find one with a slim neck or get a body and stick a slim neck on it off Warmoth. Also praise for playing Joy Division, Hooky and Joy Division was what got me into bass and music in general.

Ah, take a leaf out of Jack Bruce and Noel Redding's play book - always be as loud if not louder than the guitar player ! You might stand a chance of being heard over the drummer then :-) . Phil Lynott was amazing but also listen to John Entwhistle of the Who - surprisingly great as well. Can't remember his name right now but the bass player with Jethro Tull was amazing too. Have fun with the bass - Jimi did !

Honestly if you want a good gigging bass amp...Buy a Peavey Combo 300 or a Peavey Combo 210TX (Blue lines),For the Combo 300 the first series with the two aluminium bands each side and the BW (Black Widow)logo at the bottom of the grill cloth and the silver (aluminium) cap in the center of the speaker, which has the legendary extra heavy duty Aluminium basket and carbon fiber inpregnated membrane. 210w and 300w with a 4ohm extension speaker...at 2, yes 2Ohoms total! First two knobs pull out "ultra high" and 8DB of upper mid boost on the second knob and other really usefull options, even bi-amping (which is VERY simple to use. This amp is strong and can do it all, as can the Peavey 210TX combo. I have many Peavey amps and for pub gigs, clubs & home practice these amps are the dogs bo**ocks! lol! See for yourself on the tube!!! This is really a working mans amp for clubbing.....Have fun!

Hey, there was no need for your remark. Typically one instrument plays lead another rhythm. Should we have the mid/hi range guitar play the rhythm and allow the thick stringed bass to play lead? Sure, once in a while. But things are already worked out and bass is not typically lead instrument if you have a guitar in the same band. But yes you had to go ahead and take a cheap shot at bassists.

Hello! I want to buy my first bass guitar. Deciding between this model and jb-75. As it will be my only instrument for quite some time is this a good(versatile) choice. I want to learn a variety of genres from black metal to funk plus I want to use some pedals in future (like fuzz overdrive reverb etc). So some versatility is my goal. At the same time I have pretty small arms and I heard that this guitar has chunky neck. Is this a factor I need to consider to? Can I here some thoughts from you guys?

Tip: the pickup is pretty microphonic (picks up excessive finger noise and fret buzz - sure you've noticed) and it's generally a good idea to either put flatwound strings or a new pickup on these if you're planning to use it for recording. But for €90 there's no complaining

I think you'll be happier with a Harley Benton LP copy than a Strat... But be warned their pickguard designs are not standard while the pickguards they sell are standard... So they won't fit on their own guitars

Malcolm Hardwick incredibly stupid... I understand they would probably sell more pickguards if they fit Squiers... But produce both then... HBs would be better modding platforms if standard replacements would just drop in

But there are some giant egos at Thomann that won't listen to reason... PLENTY of people complain about the name and the logo (changing it to the initials HB like on some of their acoustic models would already be MUCH better) for instance but they just don't care I even got kicked off the Thomann and HB support group on Facebook for having very few but the same complaints over and over again 😏 that's fine though... As with most guitar forums it was just a sausage fest anyway

Definitely not. The bodies are well built, only had a problem once with a dent in the fingerboard (SG style), it was replaced no questions asked. My LP style and P bass have amazing necks, they are my go-to guitars. You may want to upgrade tuners, pickups, but even including the cost for those upgrades - they are still an insane amount of guitar for the money.
