Why Harley Benton discontinued this bass is beyond me. This was literally the best passive bass in their line-up.

I ordered the same bass after watching this video. It arrived today (4 days from Germany to USA!) and all I can say is WOW! It’s absolutely incredible especially given the price tag. It feels and looks like an instrument costing 5x the price. Finish is perfect. Came setup perfectly. Neck and fret work feels fantastic. Looks like a $1000+ bass. I honestly don’t understand how they can produce an instrument this high quality for this price. I’ve been playing guitar and bass for 25 years and owned my own retail music store for many years. I know the guitar world very well and I’m genuinely blown away by this one.

That bass is a beauty, both in appearance and in sound
When I heard the opening demo, it grabbed my attention. I play a 78 Jazz and it sounded very similar. I’ll have to see if I can find a HB to try.
I fell in love with it since I saw it online. Heck, I hope I’ll be able to get one from this first batch.
Have spent a week with this bass now and it really is a great bass for the money. Had to tighten the truss rod a little (truss rod works smooth and responds good to adjustment) but otherwise good setup from Thomann. Mine weighs 4,4 kg (9,7 lbs) and is well balanced. No complaints at all, it even rivals my 90ies MIA Fender JB . It does not have quite the same feel of quality but soundwise it really holds up very well.
Got mine yesterday, love the colour (same as this one) and the sound is stunning. £199 inc delivery, superb value.
Yikes! That jazz bass sounds killer! Harley Benton? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Love that color! Wish they had a white finish but that’s ok. FINALLY found a knock around bass that doesn’t SOUND like a knock around! Well done HB!!!🤨🎶👍🏾
I'm listening to this on my laptop and the bass sounds amazing! I'd take that to a gig.
From the sound, the build quality looks and price this is insane, I can’t believe this bass sounds like a $2k american original Fender
This is a great video and a smooth looking bass, it’s giving me something new to think about for my next bass. Thanks for the video.
Purple, my one weakness... I'm a 5-string player... b-but purple. I'd replace the pickguard immediately, but... such a lovely purple...
Excited for mine to arrive. Yet another superb Harley Benton.
Thomann website says the pickups are Roswell, not Wilkinson 2:20 Zoom in and you can even read Roswell on the pickup covers. My HB PB-50 has another Roswell in it and I have no complaints. 😊😮

Love the finish. Reminds me of an early 70s bass with the box inlays and binding.
Mine arrived last week and it's not just the bass you have in your hands, mine too is an absolute masterpiece! I shielded the electronics and changed the pickguard to a nice purple holographic one and it is just perfect!
HB stuff just gets better and better!
The thumb rest at the bottom is actually a tug bar. You anchor your index, middle and ring fingers below the tug bar and you pluck the strings with your thumb.
Beautiful, well made and great sounding bass. A steal for the money. I have gigged this bass and it gets talked about. Mine is Black.
Love that you said you get a kick back from thoman so long as you are honest it is cool
Thanks for sharing Gregor 🎸🇬🇧😓🎶
I bought this bass immediately after this video was released. I fooled all of my colleagues. They thought it was a $2k+ bass and were mind blown when I told them the actual retail. Amazing.
Looks and sounds great !!
I love the metallic colouring! Buy this one!
We need this Type with precision Basses, totally would buy it. At the momant i dont need a Jazz 😅

WOW VERY NICE BASS IT SOUNDS REAL GOOD
Got one of these as a Christmas present for my daughter - looks like a good pick !
What a nice bass from HB again. I hope that one day they will produce an mustang bass copy. With matching headstock and racing strpes😉
I'm pleased to announce that this series has returned and has been re-released for May 2024..even in 5-string models.
Honestly the most impressive part of this to me is the triple string tree. I replace the stock double tree on most of my Fender-style basses because they only hold the D and G strings down, meanwhile the A is just flapping in the breeze with a much shallower break angle than the others. Drives me nuts.

Love it. Looks a bit odd to have the modern style gotoh heads rather than mini clovers.
What an awesome bass. Love the available colors too. The only thing not to my taste is the tortoise pickguards but otherwise they totally nailed it with this model.
Keep it. It’s not hoarding if your stuff is cool. Is the cavity space shielded? I own the regular Harley Benton JB20 which is not shielded. Also the neck is really raw on the joint between neck and headstock which needs some sanding. HB makes great basses but there are „some“ things that distinguish them from more expensive Squire basses for example.
I ordered one today in black finish. Unfortunately they didn't offer the burgundy mist finish for this model anymore.
OMG! This one looks incredible! It has that Nik West vibe 😎
Harley Benton has a very nice lineup of Jazz Basses, but are a bit limited with their selection of Precision basses and PJ style basses. I'd like to see them add some cool colors to their P and PJ basses.
Unbelievably good and sounding too for low budget!
I think i will get one anyway, and i will definitely get a t shirt! Thanks for the great review. See you, Raoul
I've set up a couple of HB Jazz basses. Not bad for the money, but still have that "cheap" feel. Spend a little more on at least a decent Squier, if you can.
I considering a harley benton as I really want to try out owning a fretless, but as I have no idea if I'll get on with it, there's no point spending nearly 500 for the Sire V5 fretless when I can get the Harley benton fretless (the brown one that looks like a jazz bass) for under 200! Deffo keen to give it a go. I have an eBow and really wanna use it with a fretless. I mostly make sample based music, (Trip Hop, Downtempo/Lounge etc) so I don't really need to be too good for long periods of time. Just lay down some nice 4 bar loops and I'm good. I just love the sound and vibe of fretless and the Harley Benton seems the most sensible way to go.
I more of a P bass with heavy flats kind of guy (doubling on upright as well) I might just need to buy this bass!
Hi. I am from Malaysia, always enjoyed your bass reviews
wow, I'm looking for a new bass just for playing at home, and that looks a great option. Thanks
Beautiful bass it is. How much does this bass weigh?
Bought this bass and I have been nothing but impressed with its build quality and sound. It is a tad on the heavy side weight wise, but it is a very nice bass and rivals my fenders.

How much does it weight in kg?
Looks like the 66 style to me rather than 70s which are everywhere now. Be interesting to know what the pickup placement is. Ill get a 5 string if it comes out. Definately a gap in the market for 60s fender style 5 strings
On the Thomann website it mentions that the fretboard is Laurel, it also looks a lot brighter in those pictures, but it looks really dark in this video, almost like another wood.

Would love to have the same color but a 5 String
Literally just bought one, as the owner of a Wal and Sadowsky jazz I expect a lot, let’s see how good these are.
in terms of sound compared to the JB-75MN are there any differences?
I'm looking for recommendations: I have Ibanez GSR200 and I'm happy with it, but I'm more then curious to try an HB that sounds different to GSR200. Can you recommend me a few models?
Stunning thing that.....and bass players play a lot with their eyes😉
They need to come out with a 3 band active 5 string version of this bass.
That sounded sooo dope I ordered one!…😎😎😎
Are Roswell pickups made by Wilkinson or is this a verbal typo, Gregor? What's the weight of this alder-bodied model? I did buy a Harley Benton JB-75MN but had to return it Thomann as the weight was 'anchor-like'.
Very nice ...normally more of a p-bass guy but that looks and sounds very nice. ...and having just got a Harley Benton JP450 I know how good these relatively 'cheap' basses can be.
I'm a sunburst finish guy but I have to admit that this color really caught my eye.
