Basic Nation Analysis - EA T'ien Ch'i

Welcome to Dominions 5! This is the latest installment in Illwinter Games' long-running series of complex, intricate strategy games based loosely off real-world mythology, and a strong contender for the title of Most Complicated Strategy Game In The World.
EA T'ien Ch'i has one of the widest path-spreads in the game, with at least some access to every path except Blood. That magic access gives them a lot of flexibility as the game progresses, since it means you can manage to cast nearly any spell with your national mages given some prep work and maybe a communion - and T'ien Ch'i also has a very solid roster of troops to back up their wizardy. However, a heavy dependence on limited capital-only mages and sacreds makes TC a somewhat difficult nation to handle.

Currently using your videos to help leverage a few friends into the game. General consensus is that if you do eventually do one of these for each nation you deserve a medal. Cheers for your work on these.

The big issue with sacreds for T'ien Ch'i is that you don't have any level 3 priests. Your highest are the Celestial Masters at priest level 2 which means if you want to get divine blessing cast you need a communion with astral random masters of the way or your prophet. Otherwise you're stuck having your mages spam bless in order to ensure all your sacreds get blessed.
You might have missed something: The Noble Commander, being size 4, gets a bonus to weapon length. Equip them with a lvl0 magic spear (the piercer IIRC) for a needed boost to defense and they will be able to use that to repel attacks from spear-wielding militias. Provide them with a few sacreds set to guard-commander and you will have a slew of commanders in the hall of fame by the time you finish expansion. Later on, their high protection means they benefit well from mossbody buffs cast by your 1W1N masters.
The worst thing about Tien'chi's pretender chassis, in my opinion, is that only the Enchanter has any nature paths natively. Meaning if you want a nature bless, in any age, on Tien'chi, either you're paying extra for it, or you're picking the Master Enchanter.
I actually won my first MP game with TC in part thanks to this video. Death random Celestial Masters are great because of Wailing Winds, if you can get your hands on a skull staff.

Those celestial soldiers actually look pretty badass, I may have to try them sometime.
Do they really need an awake pretender? It feels like they have superior troops. I also couldn't stop thinking about getting a pretender that could forge elemental staves for your all-element mages.

@@mr.fantastic7756 Late to comment here but celestial masters can make staff of elemental mastery natively at construction/conj 6 (use death one to make a fire booster, use flame spirit to get flame helmet). They can get paths to first make starshine cap and then crystal coin to boost astral also, enough to make golems, mind hunt on their S randoms, or dispel. Since they can boost natively you have more flexibility for anti rush, expander, or bless setup. The real trick for being annoying with this nation in mid game is using masters of way to bless + point buff sacred summons. Quickness, mossbody, ethereal, luck etc (anything but air random does point buffs well) stacked with bless makes heavenly rivers guys threatening. Poison resist in bless for foul vapors is a useful threat vector too, makes people have to deal with that in addition to flaming arrows threat.
My favorite nation! Lore wise at least.

My first Dom4 multiplayer game was as EA T'ien Ch'i as well. I don't think I lasted a year.
Yeah the kitsune and huli jing and basically the same mythological creature, carried over to japan and held onto throughout its cultural transformation from its chinese origins.

Too bad you didn't explain how to meme with charged bodies or death explosion ancestrals. Also, isn't Turmoil + Misfortune scary? Bad events won't screw you over too much?

There are pretenders that can negate the effects of bad luck, though pretty sure not enough to really effect lv3.

Ancestor Spirits with a Suicide Bless (Death Explosion + Fire Resist OR Charged Bodies + Shock Reist ) is *hilarious*. Not good, but Hilarious. Ancestor Spirits are such great chassis for such a wide variety of funny blesses :)
Idk the Chinese Vampire meme sounds like a perfectly good reason to take the fountain of blood.
