@ShadowTasos
2 ай бұрын
@Beannin thank you for your words. I don't know if they can come around because their politics override their empathy. Many of these people likely lost a relative as well, but they value their personal freedom to do whatever they want, like go out without a mask, above the lives of others. That's how they can they can turn "grandma please stay at home so you don't get sick cos you might die" into a cruel joke like that.
@-Mintyy

Dude I know life sucks and that’s incredibly sad but this happens in comedy, some people like edgy jokes, some people like clean jokes, some people joke about horrible things and everyone laughs bc it’s a way of coping and making light of very horrible things for a few seconds and forgetting that they’re real. I think Jim did a horrible job and isn’t funny but I’m just saying in general this happens.
@ShadowTasos
2 ай бұрын
@-Mintyy wtf are you talking about. This wasn't any of those types of jokes, this was just his legitimate opinion, conservatives were convinced that their freedom to go out without a mask supercedes the value of the lives of the elderly. That is what the "joke" was about, and that's why it wasn't funny, because it wasn't actually a joke, just his real, serious opinion said in a silly voice so as to mock the people who don't think like him. It's not coping, it's just an asshole who has complete disregard for the lives of others. What a bizarre fucking response.

It was funnier to see your reaction on Jim Breuer than Jim Breuer itself 😂
My Jim Breuer story: So in 2019, Jim opened for Metallica. His set was really funny, and largely inoffensive and apolitical. About 75 percent of his jokes were about being a metal head. I fortunately scored tickets in the pit, and about halfway through Metallica's show, he came out and moshed with us. He high-fived me and walked away. Genuinely seemed like a pretty nice dude. I read somewhere that his wife has been battling terminal cancer, so combine that with COVID, and I think his mind just broke. This doesn't seem like the guy I kinda sorta had an interaction with. Dunno if this humanizes him a little bit, but I would like to think that COVID messed him up.

Yeah some people double down on the covid conspiracy theories after a tragedy that covid was responsible for, I've seen many people go that route. Meanwhile I have been consistently getting mine and never even had a sniffle while being in direct contact with several people that actively had it.

Jim Breuer's special feels like being 10 and having an uncle say things that you will later realize are really racist, but just make you feel wrong
It's fascinating that if you looked at a transcript of Jim Breuer's set there would not be a single joke. And yet it sounds like a lot of people are laughing. He just reiterated statements that everyone has heard and then made faces. I'm so confused.
