To answer your question, "why did they call themselves "player ", the answer according to Peter beckett, the lead guitarist and songwriter was because when you see the final credits of the old movies they usually would refer to the actors as the players as apposed to the cast

You probably heard this in a store somewhere. This is the kind of music they play in stores as background music. I've heard this song a 1000 times like that. This was the jam back in the day. Great song.

Peter Beckett's wife commented on a different reaction video that he watches these videos and cracks up laughing.

They were watching an old movie one night on TV and when the credits came on, instead of listing the actors as the 'Cast'. They were listed as the "Players". That's what gave the band the idea to call themselves "Player".

They all that Davy Jones and David Cassidy look back in the day. lol! RIP to Davy Jones and David Cassidy. My 2 White boy crushes along with Robbie Benson and Johnny Witaker.

They were watching an old movie from the 30s and when the end credits started rolling it said players instead of cast. They shortened it to Player. The commercial was for Swiffer. They also used the Isley Brothers That Lady song too.

The guy in red playing the guitar is named Ron Moss. He now plays on a soap opera called the Young and Restless. His hair is shorter.
