This video is the fourth in the series talking about approach and landing in the B737 for new pilots.
As a reminder please keep in mind that anything mentioned in this channel is FOR INFORMATION ONLY.
In this video will talk about how to set the thrust to better control the speed.
The three main points covered are:
1- IAS Trend vector.
2- Reference thrust settings (N1).
3- The effect of the pitch on the speed, (this was just an intro).

Thank you for your videos, again. I was struggling the other day in explaining speed management; this helps big time- not only or in the first place as tool, but to regard the speed as a more more definable physical size, when a student lacks speed management.

Dear Captain Asiri, Thank you very much for take the time and also effort to teach the three different topics related to pitch, speed and thrust. To be honest I save your video as also save a child the tastiest candy to the last to look at and today it was so far. Some people take it for granted that someone make a video, watch it and go to the follow. I realize the work and I'am so thankful you do it every time again but also the topics because it's nearly impossible for regular people to get this. I remember also as a child after Theory it's time for Practice. Unfortunately that's not possible with your class ;). Maybe you will consider to make a one time recording during a live flight. But nevertheless if it's not allowed by your company then sorry for the question. Also I struggle with the question how to use the Position and Anti Collision lights. I read and see every time a different explanation. My opinion: When the flying crew enter the flight deck and power the plane the Position must go to steady. When starting the engines it's must changed to Strobe. The Anti Collision is only changed to On when enter the runway (or temporary crossing a runway) but during the flight they stay on. I hope this is correct? Captain have a nice day and bye bye from the Netherlands.

Hello G L thank you for your kind words. I am glad you find these videos helpful. Regarding the lights you are right: - Electrical Power-Up: Position lights ON. - Before Engine start: Strobe & Steady. - Entering the RW: Anti Collision Light ON. For the approach into LOWI, that approach is tough, I am at my third attempt now but still not able to do it. Thanks again for your participation, let me know if you have any questions. Abdul

Hello Captain Asiri, Nice to reading your comment and confirm my question. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that you do not make a secret of it that LOWI RW08 is not easy either for an experienced pilot. Someone who wants to express his limitations and who dares to pose vulnerable is really a great personality. Thank you for that. I for myself do not get it under control. There is so much to think about on Downwind. Then I'am going to fast then I forgot to decent. I find a other solution but with the same poor results: Enter Legs: RTT, AB, INN, INN264/5 (with constraint 140/4000. FIX: OEV /3.5, WI005 Have a nice day. Bye Bye أتمنى لك يومًا لطيفًا.

Regarding the lights I would like to make a correction -Before Eng Start, Anti Collision Light ON, that is the red strobe. -Before entering the RW postion light to Strobe and steady. So you have the wing tip green and red lights ON and the white flashing light ON (Flashing). Sorry about the mistake. Let me know if it is clear for you hope I did not add to your confusion.

Hello Captain Asiri, It's clear now. It's seem so simple but yes it can be confusing. Now I never more (I hope) forget the correct way of using it. Thank you for taking the time to correct this. Have a nice day and bye bye

Excellent tips. Does the formula last 2 digits of Vref ÷ 2 + 40 work for both Flaps 30 and 40 landing? Have you also heard of adding 10 to your ldg wt in kg and set that as your initial N1 then reduce/increase as required maintain flight path on a stabilized approach? Will try your formula tom n revert back.

Hello Osagie, The formula works with Flaps 30, I am not a frequent user of F40 but I guess you need more thrust when landing F40. Thanks for the tip regarding the Kg weight, I have not heared of it. I will keep it in my mind. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Wish you safe flying, Abdul

Add +10 for 737CL and +5 for 737NG and reduce or required to maintain a stabilised approach
