@@antoniomaruge8218 cuz he basically was just comedic relief until this episode. this and jet's episode were the first real times we saw sokka being innovative and strategic

Shyu is the only Fire Sage who is still loyal to the Avatar. Shyu is the youngest of the Sages. Shyu's father was killed when he stood up for the Avatar. He was raised by the other Sages but he has never felt close to them.

That's WILD to be KILLED for being loyal to the Avatar....Like seriously this is why people blaming Roku for the death of the Air Nomads is fcking stupid. Not even Roku could have that much foresight to think Sozin was a genocidal maniac he just thought he was power hungry. And who's to say his sister Zeisan would be just as bad because even SHE acknowledged she COULD POTENTIALLY be just as bad...So if Roku HAD killed Sozin, he arguably could've made things so much worse.

Seeing Roku firebending through Aang was so awesome to see! This definitely was one of my favorite scenes in the show 👍

Aang really utilized what it meant to be the Avatar; multiple Avatars posses his body; Kyoshi and Roku, and he was possessed by the Ocean Spirit as well. Meanwhile Korra... Love the girl but I really wish she didn't use it just as a fun power up. I will always hate what LOK turned the AS into. Another anime power up trope. ATLA made it SPECIAL.

Crescent Island was once a place of sanctuary for Avatar Roku. The Crescent Island Fire Temple is built in a pagoda style. It is the only building on the island. The sanctuary was built to focus the power of the sun's rays during the solstices and equinoxes. The spirit of Avatar Roku can manifest itself in the natural world because of the solstice.

If you think about it this episode actually is where the story kicks off. Now we know what's up.

A lot of people tend to give Avatar Roku a ton of crap (you'll see why in season 3) but you have to respect the man. He kept the peace for his entire life. Not to mention, I absolutely love his voice...Roku is just one of those people who could WHISPER and you'd stfu and listen. Every time he appears before Jeong Jeong I get chills. "You think I am WEAK?!" oooof. Literal chills. AND to be fair, after he warns Sozin, Sozin does back off for the majority of their lives. Roku essentially was able to semi retire to his home island with his wife. Not too many other Avatars could do that; live out a relatively peaceful existence with their family.

I missed Roku so much in the live-action

The reveal where the doors open and it's Roku always gives me goosebumps. Every time. The sheer power. He must be furious that his people (the fire nation) have started a war and have been genociding people since he died.

Not too much on my girl Katara 😅 she’s still learning how to bend after being a caretaker to her entire tribe because of the war

The 1 year timeline is such a great stake raiser, but I have a sneaking suspicion they are gonna turn it into 3 years for the live action, because their young actors are going to be growing a lot. Sucks that it eliminates that tension but can't really help that...

He’s a sixteen year old kid who was burnt and banished at 13, sent to go on a hunt that for all intents and purposes was futile because the avatar hadn’t been seen in 100 years. His dad didn’t want him back, he was stripped of his home, ‘family’ and honour. Of course he’s not going to listen to his Uncle and be hot headed and temperamental.

So as a math person, i crunched some numbers right? The whome series supposedly takes place within a year's time. The winter solstice and the end of summer are approximately 9 months apart on average. But that means that the time from the first episode to this one would have been 3 months. Idk it just didn't feel like that long of a time to me. 1 month maybe but 3?

Hmm. Well it's not specified the exact date the first two episodes took place and since they are crossing climate zones it's hard to gauge time by the season. This is just guess work from the time lapses in the show but let's say they spent maybe week in Kyoshi and then they limit each of their stops after that to a couple days at the most. That plus travel, I have to guess it's been about a month🤷‍♀️
