⁠I don’t think that’s correct. Aang mastered airbending by creating his own technique, but he was still being trained. Aang himself called Gyatso the greatest airbender in the world, not himself.

Rewatching this with you guys is making me realize how horrible the move adaption of Aang was. he was SO SERIOUS. watching these episodes again is definitely making me realize that he was a funny, sarcastic kid who mostly wanted to have fun! keep up the reactions

Frl! As I was watching the live action I was like, “Aang wasn’t this serious and depressed right?”

Small correction, Aang talked to Roku on the winter solstice and he said that the comet will arrive by summer's end, so it's more like he's got a little over 6 months I believe. Still basically no time, but just to give you a timeline.

Absolutely love watching people react the avatar for the first time. Avatar has a strong fandom because of how it actually “grew “ with us. Hopefully you’ll notice with each season they get into

In general, the avatar is better at elements that complement the bending they were born with. Air and water go hand in hand with each other, so it makes sense he picks up on it quickly.

Oh my god three months, try nine! Can you imagine if it was only three months, I'm pretty sure it takes them like two months just to travel from the south pole to the north Pole because they're travelling to the other side of the world, now granted the world of avatar is smaller than our world so it's sort of hard to tell exactly how much time passes, but I do believe they do spend like close to 2 months in one place at one point in season two, so just keeping that in mind. I think it's really funny you think it's only three months because that just physically would not be possible given all the places that they do travel to, especially in this for a season, Ang isn't really taking it super seriously, especially at the beginning of the show, he just wants to do a lot of sightseeing go to a different places and have fun and be a kid so he's taking a long time to travel to places, although it does start to get more serious as the show goes on and they travel to more places, because of the war they do all have to grow up quite quickly, I believe Ang is 13 when the show ends so he does mature a little bit in terms of physicality, however he also has a lot of growing up to do because of the war and all of them do mature quite quickly for their age because of that, so again just keeping all of that in mind it is closer to a year maybe like nine or 10 months, I'm pretty sure what Roku says is by next summers end is when the comet is coming and needs to defeat the fire lord, which again is still a pretty short amount of time compared to the other avatar's who had years to master all the different bending elements, where is Ang has to master the other three within like three months, I think it might be like three or four months that passed by per season, again it's quite tricky to know because they don't make it super clear and we don't know actually know how big the world of avatar is, so it's hard to say how long it's taking them, we also don't know how fast they're travelling or how long they stay from place to place, they do spend a pretty short amount of time in each place, because of what and being there means and all the devastation that comes along with it, so because of that they do a lot of travelling and don't stay in one place for that long, so again it is a little tricky to pinpoint how much time is actually passing within the show, but yeah it is closer to a year that has which is good because it's a long enough amount of time that he can do a bit of sightseeing and have time with his friends, but still short enough that he hast to learn the other elements pretty quickly and grow up pretty fast in order to be ready to defeat Oxi. I hope this helped with clarification, just making it clear that it's not quite as short as you thought, but still a relatively short amount of time which makes it still pretty intense and the steaks pretty high, but yeah I hope that this just helped clear some things up And I'm excited to continue watching your reactions as the show goes on, this first season is very childlike and does just want to have fun and muck around, but in the later seasons the stakes do get ramped up and things do start to get a little bit more seriousas we do more exploring of the different nations.

@@BlackGirlMarvel Ok cool, I wasn't 100% sure if it was 89 or 10 months, I knew it definitely wasn't 12 like it's not a full year it's more like a half year but I wasn't exactly sure, but eight months still definitely works obviously we know the world of avatar is much smaller than our world and they don't travel to that many places but definitely takes them a few weeks to travel to the north Pole and then they do stay in different places throughout the show for long periods of time and you have to count it as before the comet comes as well since they've already been travelling for a few weeks before and find out that information, which I don't think counts towards the eight months but from this point onwards I feel like that does work pretty well, there are a few things you do need to factor in though like how fast can upper fly, so like how long does it take them to travel from place to place as well as taking into account how big the world is or in this case how small it is, obviously I think the earth nation is the biggest area of landmass that we see and they don't travel to that many places in the earth kingdom so that also checks out and they are differently very powerful benders like I said each season they do get mature as the stakes ramp up and they go through mini changes, so yeah that all adds up I knew it definitely wasn't three months though because that just wouldn't work since it takes them like a few weeks to get to the North Pole so it had to be a pretty long time, so eight months works, because that way it's a short enough amount of time that they do need to take it seriously and learn as much as they can before Ang needs to fight the fire Lord, but at the same time it's a long enough amount of time that they're able to do a little bit of sightseeing in a little bit of travelling around so, I just wanted to get clarification out the way that it was next summer not this summer and that yet it's still a pretty long amount of time relatively short compared to the other avatars who had years to learn and only has a couple of months but it's still along enough amount of time that he is able to do a little bit of exploration. So thanks for helping me to clear up exactly how many months, I wasn't trying to be rude in my original comment or anything just trying to clarify because like I said three months really would be not long enough at all and pretty impossible given even though the world is small and even though upper can travel quite quickly if you are travelling from one side of the world to the other no matter how small the world is it's just not possiblesince it is gonna take a few weeks to get there and back.

I believe it's 8-9 months. And he's already a master of air. But even in the end of the series he wasn't a master to any element but air with being close to mastering water. It's said in show he was still not a master but he learned well enough to fight.

You guys should dress up like characters at the end of every book!!!!

Day 45 requesting Penny Dreadful :) I love this episode because it really showcases how non-benders can be just as formidable or challenging to fight as benders. There’s other episodes and characters that do this too, the warriors of Kyoshi had a similar theme and there’s many more to come that I won’t spoil, but I’ve always loved how this show was able to embrace so many different kinds of fighters in or out of the power system.
