I love this episode because we start to see the qualities that make Sokka a great leader and fighter. He thinks creatively, uses his surroundings to his advantage, he thought to use katara and aangs bending abilities despite not having bending himself and he was able to delegate tasks.

June was designed after one of the crew members on Avatar. She even has the same tattoos.

3:15 calling the water tribe the water *nation* gave me such an ick haha that’s the first time I really thought about how all the nations have a different descriptor and I’m very grateful for it lol

The fight with Zuko & Aang underrated as hell especially the well scene. Also Appa wanted all the static he said these my people and Im defend them

Bros sleeping on Katara!! Def wasn't her episode but c'mon! She's the one who decided to leave with Aang in the first place, she and Sokka argued about hiding stuff from Aang back at the Air Temple, she stole the Water Tribe scroll, she followed Haru and liberated a prison!!!! Don't do my girl dirty like that.

Appa was going off this episode love to see it the whole fight scene was cool

Earth Kingdom messengers have one of the most difficult jobs in the Earth Kingdom Army. They often travel hundreds of miles and even through battle fronts to deliver messages. Think of the postman in Legend of Zelda.

I just love how Aang kicks Zuko's ass in this episode 🤣 So effortless.

Literally wasn’t even trying like 💀

A shirshu has no eyes and instead sees with its highly sensitive nose. Its paralyzing tongue can stretch more than 30 feet. The whip doesn't hurt the shirshu's tongue skin. It's just a tool for giving commands.

The character of Sokka: voiced by Jack DeSena. Jack even voices the young version of Sokka.

The fights in this show are beautufully choreographed, but this Aang vs Zuko is one of my favourites in the whole show

I hope this episode is showing how each of the skills sets are developing only because you keep saying what will Sokka and Katara do every time Aang fights. Sokka is very good with strategising and forming plans and Kata is coming in to her own as a water bender

Lol, yeah. Uncle has a crush on June. It's cute and funny. I see a lot of people very confused about her age. When they episode came out a lot of people assumed she was also a teenager like 18. I don't understand why. But June is in her mid thirties. Still half uncles age though lol.

Katara is a great character.. in most episodes. For some reason in this one she has literally no original opinions. I think it’s because this episode had a one time only writer who just didn’t really understand her 😅 She is typically very outspoken about what she wants to do

LOL I find it hard to believe that y'all wouldn't be pissed that somebody hid something from you about your parent you haven't seen in years due to a war.

The black rock surrounding the village was created by Aang in the previous episode. He was stopping lava from destroying the village.

Day 59 requesting Penny Drwadful :) One of my favorite fight scenes from book one, the choreography between Zuko and Aang is so good. On top of that, Appa coming in clutch, it’s always cool to see him fight and be protective. I wish June had more screen time in the series, she was so cool - how could she not be as the same voice actress as the lead singer from The Hex Girls!

Showdowns between Zuko and Aang actually don't happen very often in the series. This was done on purpose.

Listen… what Aang did on his end was wrong but they didn’t even let him have a chance to defend himself and explain properly. Sokka and Katara just left him. They didn’t even have the decency to ask Aang how was he feeling or anything. They got a dad that’s still alive. Aang? Not so much.

Comparing shitty situations is kind of pointless especially since literally EVERY man in their tribe had to fight in a war that few will come back from. When they found out their dad was alive they told Bato they'd stay with Aang but when Aang hid that from them it was a betrayal and they were angry. I don't see how anyone can be like "they suck for that." It's not the oppression Olympics, this was about their dad who they haven't seen in years.

@@neonoires as I’ve pointed out, what Aang did was wrong but again, they didn’t let Aang fully explain himself on why he did what he did. Also as I’ve pointed out, they were kind of being shitty towards Aang and didn’t even bother to ask if he was feeling ok or anything beforehand.
