Fun fact: literally every caring thing gothel even did or said to rapunzel was directed at her hair. She talks to and rubs rapunzel's hair in her song at the beginning of the movie and when asking if she was okay near the end of the movie, it is visually shown that she's saying it to the hair. This is a nice contrast to Flynn pushing her hair out of the way of her her face when they were on the boat at the lantern festival

Random trivia: Rapunzel is actually the first Disney Princess to reject a marriage proposal, lol. The first time Eugene asked her, she ran out of the room. She wasn't feeling ready and was freaking out, but after many adventures later, I think she's the one who brought it up. And Eugene patiently waited and didn't get mad. In the original Rapunzel story her prince(Flynn/Eugene) was pushed from the window when the witch(Mother Gothel) caught Rapunzel and him together. He fell into a rosebush or a lot of thorns and became blind, the witch moved her so he would never find her. He searched for a long time and eventually found her in some small hut with twin babies (They got busy in the tower), He passed out or something from the long travel and Rapunzel cried over him, her tears falling in his eyes healing him of his blindness.

One small but super cute detail is that the lantern the King and Queen put into the sky has their kingdom's symbol (the sun) and it is the only one that has it when comparing it to the other ones in the sky and you see their lantern again when Rapunzel keeps that one from hitting the water. It found the lost princess like it was meant to, it went right to her and was saved by her. Sone hidden details: 1) It is almost unseen, but, among other things, the patterns on items in Rapunzel's tower contain symbols of other Disney princesses: a rose (Belle), an apple (Snow White), a spinning wheel (Aurora / Sleeping Beauty) and a shoe (Cinderella). 2) Pay attention to Rapunzel's dress. At first its lacing is in front, because she has to tie it by herself, but in the end she wears a dress with lacing on the back, showing that now she has someone to help her with it. 3) Rapunzel is the only Disney princess with green eyes (others have blue, brown or black)

There’s actually a sequel series for this movie, and it’s not bad like other Disney sequel series that tend to be basically cashgrabs. It has a lot of worldbuilding, more time with the characters and also completely new characters that enrich the world and the lore and have amazing development! Not to mention that it has broadway-level musical numbers, especially in seasons 2 and 3, composed by the same guy who composed songs for not only the Tangled movie itself but various other Disney musicals like The Little Mermaid! One thing that I also really like is that they fully recognize and explore how traumatic Rapunzel’s childhood was and have allegories for PTSD. I would totally recommend it. It gets so good from the middle of season 1 onwards.

Something I learned from watching cinema therapy: mother gothel actually hits all 11 signs of gaslighting (like lying (duh), denial of the lies, belittling, shifting blame, switching between good guy and bad guy, making Rapunzel question her own intellect and perception of reality, etc., etc.). Gothel is my favourite Disney villain, purely because her evil isn't supernatural, its real. Gothel's 'evil power' is manipulation for self benefit and people like that exist in the real world, it gives kids such a good message, evil isn't just superpowers. Notice every time Gothel is affectionate towards rapunzel its directed towards her hair and her powers (kissing her hair, nicknaming her 'flower' etc) she values rapunzel for what she can do for her. I also love the metaphors in this film that address real life struggles people go through while growing up, Rapunzel not being allowed to leave her tower even once she turns 18 is representative of turning 18 and wanting your own freedom and independence while some parents may be desperate to keep their child attached to them that they ban them from gaining that independence. Also the crown, representative of sex, in mother knows best pt 2 gothel tells rapunzel to give Flynn 'the crown' and see that as soon as he gets what he wants from her (the crown, representation of sex) he will leave her.

Tangled is right there at the top of my Disney favorites list. It's very changed from the Rapunzel fairy tale but they came up with a compelling story with great characters (including Pascal and Maximus, two of the best animal sidekicks ever). Some theaters showed it in 3-D, and while it didn't make a huge difference most of the time, it was absolutely magical in the lantern scene, with the closest ones floating seemingly inches away from our faces. I hope it can be screened that way again some time. It also has some of the best voice acting in any animated movie. Zachary Levi, of course, also Mandy Moore, and especially Donna Murphy (a great stage actress) as Mother Gothel. The writing of her character is chilling, because it's so believable as the way passive-aggressive, abusive parents actually behave -- critical one moment, pretending it was all a joke the next, again and again.

They don't have like an official movie sequel, but they do have a TV movie called Tangled Before Ever After that essentially functions as a long pilot for Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure which is a series. The art style is different but I really enjoyed the series even watching it as an adult. Definitely worth checking out!

Also definitely add Little Miss Sunshine to your movies to watch list. A simply perfect film, and I swear thats not just in my opinion, almost everyone I've ever talked to who's seen it usually ends up putting it in their top 5 movies of all time. Screenplay, Acting, Direction, Cinematography, Soundtrack...all just brilliantly done. It'll make you laugh, it'll make you cry. Don't miss out.

I absolutely LOVE this movie. Definitely my favorite Disney princess movie. I just love the dynamic Eugene and Rapunzel have. Their love story actually feels legit and generous. And Rapunzel is an amazing protagonist imo. She's strong and brave but not annoying or bratty and at the same time truly caring and loving. And also the way the story was adapted - so well done. It feels original and modern but with a lot of charme and little tie backs to the original Grimm's fairytale here and there with the tear and the ''falling off the tower'' etc and the twist in the end when Eugene cuts her hair is actually so well done (funny enough was this the first time I got spoilered in my life ever 😑 me and my parents watched it together in cinemas when it came out back in 2010 when I was 10 years old for Christmas, a classmate of mine just got out of the movie with his family and we were about to go in. We chatted for a minute and he straight up told me that her hair gets cut off in the end 😂😪) And yes I have to agree... the lake scene with the lanterns is definitely one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen animation wise. whenever I watch this scene I just feel an inner warmth, as cheesy as this may sound right now. Probably my favorite scene in any animated movie. Imagine how beautiful this was to see in theatres. Oh and btw there actually is a continuation of Tangled but sadly not as a movie but a 2D animated tv series instead. But I gotta say it's a pretty good show! The art style is very cool, the soundtrack is really fire and the story pretty interesting as well. It's called Rapunzel Tangled Adventure and I can honestly only reccomend 😌

So if u watch frozen there is a part where rapunzel (short brown hair) and Eugene walk into the castle it’s really subtle so it’s easy to miss. I also think the lantern that Rapunzel pushes up from the water was her parents! So it was very symbolic to see their lantern make it way to her. Because it was meant to be a wish that one day she’d come home. And at that point she was right there.

Speaking of sequels-- they made a series that tells the story of Rapunzel's time back in her kingdom before her & Eugene actually get married. It is quite interesting, very action packed, & has a great story with great characters. Eugene is, of course, with her; living in the castle & they have a few new friends, as well. There's lots of new lore-- I mean I could try to sell it further than that; but I don't want to give out any, of even the smallest of, spoilers. Bottom line., is that I definitely recommend watching it; the show is called _'Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure,'_ if you guys are at all interested in checking it out!
