Hey Shift, imagine putting a screw in the post and having it split fully apart or again, affecting the trunk...I had to fix it, right?

@@JeffRyan No question about it. I noticed my 63 Galaxie front post split. Yikes. Had since new. Gotta fix. Will do this! I have seen a glue in post with a square base, but that would be last resort. TY, Jeff!

@@shiftintohigh5564 Hey Shift, let me know how it comes out. I have used the square screw post on a number of custom slot car builds, but as far as the old T-Jet go, you gotta use the round if at all possible. See ya Shift!!

Be careful and go SLOW and be patient. I will warn you...and Jeff will probably agree, the tan plastic is the WORST...it is brittle as hell.....of course if you were made in the early 60's...you might be a little brittle too (as I am 56). Jeff - I do like the Alumilite fix and I think the "Gorilla Glue " fix is pretty good too. The problem is when the entire post is virtually gone or major portions of it are gone....THAT'S when it gets nasty...and requires good skill. In fact - I don't buy the tan cars anymore....but that's me. It's a dreadful color anyway frankly (just my opinion).

Good morning , Jeff I like the of the Maserati Screw post , may I say if I was you I would get yellow strew and make cut band around the screw post too fit round the post so you do not see the Crack

Hey Lawrence, I have a screw post saver I used, once, kinda really didn't like it because it was more of a patch-job rather than a proper fix. I think if you don't know about the Guerilla Glue or the Alumilite, the screw post savers are a great way to stop the cracks from getting worse.

Hello Jeff , my Idea in the screw if the screw post Cracks I would got a Straw and cut too hide the Crack and then hide the Crack and then put the glue in and Screw it in Like you did, I been in to it Since was I was a kid I am 62 years old.

Hey, Thanks for the question. If I recall, the directions state adding a bit of water activates the glue. Hope this helps, let me know if you need anything else.

Hey Randy, If I'm not mistaken, it was the original formula Gorilla glue, which is water activated.

What size drill bit did you use.

Hey Pat, I don't know the size of the bit. What I do is look for a bit approximately the same size as the shaft of the screw. This allows me to drill a hole so the treads of the screw can cut into the screw post properly. Take care Pat, hope this helps.
