    An identical Aurora Thunderjet green Torino is the most legendary car in my collection. My father took a liking to it 50+ years ago and always beat me because it was fast and steady and dependable and handled well and never spun or came off the track. When my children were growing up the first car they were allowed to drive was the green Torino because of its reliability, and now the same is true with my grandchildren. My father is 93 years-old now and when I speak with him and tell him I played with the cars with my grandchildren he asks me "Did you let them drive the green Torino?" 4 generations of my family know the legend of the iconic green Torino, and we all love that car :^)

    I haven't raced slots in years, but I used to repair cracked screw posts by putting a piece of brass or aluminum tubing over the post. 1/8 in. long piece will do and slide over the post and tap it in. I got the tubing at the hobby shop. This will accommodate most car bodies and engine configurations on T jets.

    Hey Warren, Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Sounds like you need to get back into playing with the old slot cars. Recall what a blast it was to race them, tune um up, get them properly oiled and hop them up just the way you wanted them?! Guess what Warren, it's still a BLAST!! If I may suggest, you dig out your slot car stuff, set up a small track layout and start your slot car hobby back up now. If you don't have your stuff anymore, eBay has a plethora old slot car stuff. Warren, take care, let me know how it goes for you, see ya!!

    Was that an old AC vibrator motor chassis at 9:38 of your video? A couple of years ago I tried running some old T Jets and the motors seemed very weak. I took one apart, cleaned everything but it still ran slow. Could it be the magnets?

  • @JeffRyan

    @JeffRyan

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Brian, Yes that is a Vibrator chassis. As long as all the contact point are properly cleaned and the reed mechanism is tightened correctly it should be fine. Do make sure the rod moves freely in the center of the engine. Hope this helps. Take care Brian.

    Hey Mark, Thank you for the comment. My point for restoring the Torino back to it's factory original look, is for resale value. Getting it off of eBay for a nominal cost, putting back on eBay (refurbished) for an increased profit margin over 10 times what I paid for it. That has to seem like a smart way to turn a hobby into a profitable venture, right? That's why I do it. I get it, the previous owner spent a lot of time painting and decaling the car, but by the time I got it, the paint was marred, it was chipping off, some of the decals were very worn and slitting, the chrome on the rims sucked and so on. I look at it this way: now that I've restored the Torino back to the way Aurora intended look, it's a blank canvas for the next owner to do what they want with it. Who knows, they might paint gold & black and and hide the natural beauty of the car's lines with a bunch of decals, right? Take care Mark, talk soon.

    @@kman507507 Hey Mark, Good to hear from you Sir. Thank you for the kind words. Through the years of restoring the old T-Jets, I came across only body that I did NOT remove the decals or paint. The patina was cooler and stripping that for profit only makes it worse in my book. I like the green car but you had to destroy the other car… and you did it for money. (Not because you wanted the green car. 😢)
