Gotcha, I removed the other comment. That actually was not the ATS mis fire detector . It was a relative compression test, built into the ATS E-scan . I don't actually have an ATS scope just the E-scan.

There's one thing I can't understand. On what basis did you determine that the lower radio panel was damaged and not the upper one? The top one didn't work either, neither the navigation switches nor the air conditioning.

All of the communication goes threw the radio panel. The nav switches are hardwired to the radio panel. I knew the radio panel wasn't communicating so i replaced what was a known problem first and re tested. All was good.

just heard about your channel from last weeks Techlink call from Nissan. excellent. trying to under Can diag more. so if power and ground are good and can signal is weird back probed connected to unit .unit is faulty. also if unit is disconnected and signal is ok is it a faulty unit or would signal still be wrong .trying to understand if can signal is an output or input to module or both. sorry for long post. still trying to learn.just ordered pico 2204A to start learning

Good power and ground are a must for all controllers. If signal integrity is poor, its not always the controller you are testing causing it, any controller on the network can cause an issue, unfortunately you may just have to unplug them one at a time to see. But if signal integrity is good and power an ground is good, the possibility of the non communicating controller being bad is the most common issue.

Also be sure to use attenuators with that scope, I think the maximum Input voltage is low, something like 20volts . Just check into it a little to avoid damage.
