ASMR Unboxing Folio Society & Everyman's Library Books: The Talented Mr Ripley, Nietzsche, Catch 22

Here are some Preloved Folio Society and Everyman's Library books from eBay.
(RECORDED ON 23 SEPTEMBER 2019).
*
The Everyman's Library book ("The Talented Mr Ripley" + "Ripley Under Ground" + "Ripley's Game") is in used condition, sure. BUT, it was shipped in a single layer plastic bag that you see at the end of this video. ** No padding. No box. ** As a result, the corners are badly battered, as you can also see here :(
I bought this one for less than US $2, but after shipping from the US to NZ plus exchange rates, this book costed me NZD $45 and I am not very happy about how badly damaged the corners are due to improper packing.
Because of the price point, I understand the lack of motivation on the seller's part beyond throwing the book into the sea to float directly across the planet to me.
It is rather painful to see such a beautiful book damaged so badly, and so unnecessarily.

The Other Two Books (Classics!) are:
(1) "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", a philosophical novel by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, composed in four parts, written and first published between 1883 and 1885.
(2) "Catch-22", a satirical war novel by American author Joseph Heller. He began writing the novel in 1953 and it was first published in 1961.

Still missing my family, and crashing badly from a holiday and family reunion high. Spending the last two months with loved ones both on a medical emergency and in more festive circumstances have really reminded me once more of what's truly important. Here is to 2020 and all of its priorities.

Happy holidays A! I have a question, have you heard or had any problems with the printing in the spines of the Everyman books rubbing off? I'm considering buying Atonement because they are GORGEOUS editions but my Aeneid and His Dark Materials are now missing half the black on the spine after reading them and it's starting to bother me. That Thus Spoke Zarathustra looks divine btw

Yes they do come off. But for the price they are charging I am not complaining! Everyman's Library by far is the best value for money book I have come across so far. I am due to share why they are my fav edition. Sadly, I don't know why sadly but for me it is sad, they are now part of a huge conglomerate of book publishers all under the same company umbrella: Random House. Back to the spines of this edition: This is why you want to keep the dust jacket on. Or at least, get a plastic wrap cover thing to wrap around the covers the way dust jackets do. I bought a few second hand ones and ta lot of the ones with dust jackets missing have the prints on the spines rubbed off like yours....

@@hectorrobertocontrerasmiranda They are about $20 right...? Per book? Note that around 2008 I think they tried glue binding and people were not happy about it! I would avoid those....
