Asking Armenians why They Love Armenia

Join me as we walk around the streets of Yerevan and discover why the Armenians love armenia so much.
We meet Armenians for Armenia but also Armenians from other countries, but the reason why they all love Armenia is universal.
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Central & Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakusky and join me as we discover why Armenians love Armenia..
Thank you to all my Patreons for your support and helping make this channel what it is!

I just came back from visiting Armenia for the first time, living in Montreal Canada the biggest difference was the fact that I allowed my son to be out late at night without any worries, I could never let him out late at night in Montreal or Toronto, the people are amazing, kind hearted, you don’t see girls with tattoos and piercings, and if you do, they are not locals, I love the fact that they love Christianity and respect their religion, men are respected and women are cherished unlike Canada, children have access to play without being bothered by police even in the heart of downtown, the nature is almost as beautiful as Italy’s. Fountains are everywhere, I missed vartavar by two days and I regret it. Go visit Armenia

that Parasitism is what gets armenia in trouble during whole history. just because you had your golden age once and peak in history and owned big territories does not mean they all belong to you right now. its same for italians now claim that half of europe belongs to them because of roman empire. there was time in histroy for long time that armenia did not even exist as a country and it was fully part of Georgia so should we now claim armenia is our territory? XD you can have all kinds of claim with Turkey or Azerbaijan because these are countries with recent history, they came here from central asia and clearly stole lands from older nations which existed many centuries before them but clearly with not Georgia or any its historical land. armenians are immigrant nation and whatever place they settle on and they will have advantage by their own population compared to locals. Just because your disapora lives somewhere does not mean its armenia, its such a simple concept, and that is what is called Parasitism. in 1918 you started silly war because of that national parasitism coming for a Tbilisi because you seriously thought Tbilisi was armenian city because of your big population 😂 and you got your asses kicked back to armenia and guess what? still big population of armenians live in Georgia despite of your mistakes, even though we had all rights to force all armenians out of our country. Same thing happens now with Javakheti, you just won't chill, you continue this. Never seen country got humbled so many times and still make same mistakes just to annoy people around and to be left without friends in region.

You're fast becoming a legend! There's two terms of endearment you need to tune an ear too, usually when a lady speak, if you hear her say Justin "JAN" you're being touched by motherly/sisterly/brotherly love... you'll hear it a lot, along with Tsaved Danem! The other is ARA, buddy, mate, bloke, brother... from guy to guy. More common names, I went through my family..... Yegh-so : Elizabeth Keghetzkh : Pretty Krikor = Greg Kevork = George Vartuee = Rose Harut ; Harutyun : Harry - Resurrection Avedis shortens to Avo Antranig : Andrew Hovsep : Joseph Pedros : Peter Mum's name was Nazeni : Nora / Nono Aunty Meline : Meh Lin. Aunty Verkin : Virginia Hakob/Hagop/Agop : Jacob / Jack Arek : Take it Takvor: King Mihran : Mih Run (Dad) Merri / sounds more like Merry Maree / Mary Lucine: Lucy Eddig: Eddie Berge, Maryse, Sarkiss, Davit.. endless of course. (And Im not getting into a spelling argument, this is written in English)

Justin Eastern Europe Your video had me wondering and had the day to think... Imagine a people since 300 AD identifying themselves with Christianity in a Pagan and mythical world. The term, subjective familiarity were the first words to come to mind, then I thought deeper into our past. Empires have come and gone and our identity, our obligation to each other as Armenians became a dependency so deep, it is almost scary enough to call a genetic disposition in us all. You've seen the historical images, women defending their lands etc, it's been going on for centuries. It is a blind, subjective obligation and that's why we argue hard, love hard and play hard, and it hurts. Sadly Justin, I'm not bound to my "city limits" so to speak, so like you, I'll say it like I see, use my education to process what I see and objectively tell you, that love and obligation can be hell too! A study was made once in among academics about Altruism. 50% of the study said at some level it had to be self serving and it doesn't not exist, while 50% carry on believing in it What do you believe the answer would be in Armenia, do you think they believe altruism exists, I bet the study would have reveal a 70/30... You wanted to know three things about Armenians... 1) Trust.... Read the 1st Lady's post on how deep a loss it is to lose it. 2) Food itself is more valuable than money, it is survival, existence and celebration. It is giving, loving and at every moment, sitting eating together means tomorrow will come. When your grandmothers spoke of people and 1 grain of rice, you know what they were saying to you. So like old cultures around the world, Arabic ones, European, where hard times and food was life, it is subconscious, even my wife's mother as a child had her pet rabbit become a war ration. 3) We really do believe in ourselves, hence why when given an opportunity, you'll see them strive for prominence, and in no way will you ever find a subservient Armenian, nor Turk as a matter of fact. It's our confidence, that stems from ancient times, we're all broke because we just want to have fun. Side note: As a child, one of the most traditional songs sung was Sude Sude... To summarize the lyrics.. "It's a lie, it's a lie, it's a lie, the world is a lie, be with friends, eat drink and be merry, it's a lie, it's a lie.." The love you're getting there reminds me of one of my favourite Armenian words. JAH GUD A KIR | FOREHEAD WRITING | Your destiny enjoy :)

You can learn a lot about Armenian people through the language. For example, expressions of love and hate. The most common thing relatives say to each other is "I would go blind for you," "I would die for you," etc. We say this to each other all the time. A common insult is "I will bury your mother." So whether positive or negative, Armenians are very emotional and passionate people.

I can add something to this as you could see Armenians are pretty blunt what you see is what you get. Which to some can be a turn off. In western countries people are disciplined to be diplomatic not in Armenia and perhaps that’s the reason they got hurt through the history. I watched a documentary where many Armenian academics were slaughtered because they openly expressed that they will not believe any other religion but Christianity. For instance many countries have converted to save their lives not Armenians. 1.5 millions of Armenians were victims of genocide. I also believe in Christian God which is let’s openly say it. It’s Christ only begotten son of God. I only want him to come through and save Armenia for only the faith people have in him. Although the gospel does indicate people who are chosen by God often go through testimonies in their lives and are given many tribulations among the way but end is always victories with our lord. Amen 🙏

I was born in Armenia but raised in America since I was 2 years old. I visited Armenia in 2010 for a month and the thing I loved the most is the warmth and hospitality of the people, people are genuine and easy to talk to, I remember one time I left a casino and I was gonna walk down the road until I see a taxi there are taxis everywhere, less than 10 minutes later some young kid stopped asked me if I want a ride I said sure, he drove me back to Yerevan we went to his friends music store where they burned music cds for me, we ended up going out and having a good time getting drunk and singing karaoke lol We still keep in contact, good people. Also its a really safe country with one of the lowest crime rates in a country of 3 million last time I checked there were like 30 something homicides, there are cities in America with a lot less people that have hundreds of homicides, so its a safe country.

@@mehmetaslan2934 yes, it is cooked in every Armenian family, even in the diasporas, who have not lived in Armenia for 200 years, this means that this dish is root for Armenians, it is also possible to use it in neighboring countries, among the Turks and Persians, but please note the Turks that came from Central Asia did not have vineyards to wrap meat around, because it's central asia, so it’s definitely not Turkic, and among Persians it’s not as common as among Armenians, tolma in Armenian “tolimis” in translation grape-meat. In any case, it is very stupid to argue about a dish when it should be eaten and enjoyed, but to declare with such confidence that it is not Armenian is lack of culture, arrogance and ignorance.

As someone with an Armenian wife and who spends a lot of time in Armenia, I think what amazes me most about the Armenian people is their resilience - they've been through hell and back, have been subjugated by countless empires and invaders, have been victims of genocide and pogroms and ethnic cleansing, yet they have not only survived but their culture has thrived and grown only stronger and stronger while all those other peoples and empires have come and gone. If there is any culture that has a chance of still being around 1000 years from now, it's probably Armenia.

I don't think that any real Armenian would look down upon Armenia. Most likely living in diaspora you start noticing big disadvantages of people in Armenia. You are armenian too, you want to return to Armenia even if your parents were disxriminated in Armenia because they were from Turkey, you are learn history and work for Armenia more than average Armenian in Armenia and you start noticing very big minuses that Armenians in Armenia have, it's not a bad thing, living in diaspora gives you different perspective, so you want to get rid of these minuses that Armenian share and you want for Armenians to learn their history, to learn how educated they were troughout the history, how rich their culture. Armenia is not about horovats and backgammon, Armenia is about great culture, hardwork, loving close ones, and keeping traditions alive. How much people like that you know in Armenia? I always dissapointing visiting Armenia not because I don't love Armenia, but because people still have a lot of work to do, but some people don't get it. Shout out to my IT brothers from Armenia, we will raise our natiin again, so diaspora would want to retrun to Armenia, but please let's work together, it's hard only for IT segment to improove the country, everyone should educate themselves and learn armenian culture, but it seems half of armenian just want to be taxi drivers, at least give your children proper education, we are talanted, let's open our talent in children
