Gossipy BABUSHKAS BANNED In This Place
Why This Place in VILNIUS BANNED GOSSIPS
Join me as we discover the Hales Turgus Market in Vilnius, Lithuania.
We set out from Riga in the early morning and as soon as we arrived in Vilnius, we wasted no time making our way to a local market.
Although Vilnius has many quality markets, I could not resist going to this one when I learned that a rule prohibiting ladies from gossiping in the market was passed.
We met the locals, ate some unique Lithuanian delicacies, and saw if there were any gossiping babushkas in this market.
Let us discover the Hales Turgus in Vilnius together!
If you enjoy adventure videos from the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, then grab your vodka, some zakusky and join me as we explore the Market that prohibits gossiping in Vilnius, Lithuania.

It’s a great market, I always visit it whenever I am in Vilnius. There is cafe/food place right when you enter through the main door on the left side, run by this babushka with short hair, their food is homemade and really cheap and their ginger and mint tea is just superb

And if you visit the heart of city centre, "Sultiniai" (eng. broths) has the best bun rolls in the world (yeast dough), original chef lady owners never sold the place, and I remember it since the early 80s!

Geographically, the Baltic countries Lithuania 🇱🇹, Latvia 🇱🇻and of course Estonia 🇪🇪 are Northern Europe* countries, together with the (“Big Brother •”SCANDINAVIA ). Balticum - NORTH -East’ !

Love the fact that the place retains its character and hasn't embraced the lure of the global chains...

dead wrong. Some of the global chains don't operate there because it is not profitable for that kind of operation, but goods are still imported through 3rd parties so there is no difference except the price hike.
Hello long time no see your videos 😮 And I have been more than 50 times in Vilnius without visiting that lovely market 😢
I will be in Riga on the 24 of April maybe we can meet it's because of your wonderful and amazing videos I choose to book a flight Thanks Justin

It's common for the cantines over there, otherwise the fresh home made food would go bad! And people know a good and healthy place to eat ;)
Hi, Justin. I have watched all your videos since the beginning almost. I am from Latvia and now live in Florida for 15 years and I can tell you, that you speak in Russian waaaaay better now then 2 years ago. Good for you, bother! Keep on traveling because I watch all your videos!
Hi Justin :) the third video for me watched on your channel. I like your energy and was surprised on your skills in Russian and French languages :) because most of UK people know just UK English. I would like to meet you next time you will visiting Lithuania :)
There's a good museum at Vilnius train station. The giant Tony Soprano statue is a random feature too.

Hopefully, paranoia will die completely with another generation. Great video mate.
Just like you said, Lithuania is mostly Catholic, the egg colour 15:31 seller is clearly Orthodox, because their Easter hasn't arrived yet. Reminds me of a joke about the very old times at the newspaper stand: (Buyer asks in Russian): Have you got tonight's issue of the "Vesnik"? (The clerk): Only in Lithuanian remaining. (Buyer switches to Lithuanian): Ok, please give me a copy!

It's amazing how young western and eastern Europeans speak English, and most are polyglots. I experienced this in Serbia, what I can say is to learn the language for the country you are planning on traveling and the locals will like you.

I wonder why cured meats are so popular, does it stem from back when food was scarce or rationed so had to cure the meat to keep it preserved to last longer? I’ve always wondered this
@b6983832

Meat had to be preserved with drying, salting, smoking, etc. before the invention of refrigeration. Nowadays, it is more because of the tradition.

I visited Vilnius and also went by train to Trakai castle. Very interesting place and helpful people. I arrived at the airport and took the wrong bus to the centre so had to go a second time. The Russian ticket inspectors did a 'spot check' and were really helpful and told me to get back on the bus and explained to me where to get off even though I had no valid ticket.
