@@FrankHor101 The Europeans are often or especially in the North American sports leagues simply summarized as Europeans by US-Americans because you are too stupid to know the countries. In this case, this categorization comes from the American side. The first time I saw classifications like European or non-American in the NBA was in the early 2000s when you even labeled Tim Duncan, who is from the US Virgin Islands and even played for the US, as non-American along with Europeans, Canadians, South Americans, Asians, etc. Europe has its problems (wars etc.), especially in the East, but at the end of the day we are all proud to be European and I will always support a European or just a non-US-American in sports more than a US-American no matter what country he is from and especially in a league like the NBA.

The irony is you can't claim an NBA team being world champion without players from all over the world. Pretend that rules and management would have been changed for less than 15% of players seems to be ridiculous when you know that since the last 80's, we always saw european players in it. Factual. And they always due adapt themselves to the game and the other players they were fronting of. Who decide about NBA policy ? I don't say that as a hater, I really love this game. I just always found it sad to see that evolution can give rise to frightened conservative people who see evil where others see a constant rise, a building block to the edifice. And something else bothers me. Are we only talking about Europeans or also about Africans, Russians, Asians who also play? how to interpret the subject?

Also, a dunk doesn't give you more points than a lay-up, but in the long run it leads to more injuries. If you don't like the team sport aspect of basketball (passing, plays in offense that rely on several players to act well coordinated, communication, help defense and boxing out), why not watch one-on-one or three-on-three games?

Americans don't need sports, they need a show. Just like with, for example, football (soccer for us ppl) they can't tell good game from bad and think MLS is a quality league just because it has attendance and there is a lot of goals and long shots, when in reality MLS has absolutely abysmal defending and goalkeeping. It's about what they are being sold, and they are being sold big black dudes making dunks with crossovers and superstar mentality. So when Denver got a ring based on a team attempt and Nets imploded, their general audience just can't understand it. And as usual instead of trying to change they demand to ban it

@@pavelmakarov3565Yes and no. NFL is also American league but the NFL gives you an exciting game, but they don’t dumb it down. American football has a lot of moving parts and it takes time to understand the intricacies of it. It’s not a game for the casual fan to really understand. Yet it’s the one thing that in 2023 tens of millions of fans will sit in front of a television for over three hours to watch. The NBA chases casual fans even knowing that it turns off die-hard fans. What happens when you catch the attention of the casual fans? They might watch for a while, but as they get closer to becoming real fans, they start to see the gimmicks. So the obvious problem is that the more someone watches NBA, the more frustrated they get and they stop watching.

I ja sam video tu promenu u njegovoj igri.

@@milangrujicic4679what are u talking about, giannis dominating on both sides of the floor...he has something like 65% fg , so it doesn't really matter how he puts the ball in the basket...on top of that you have all the teams playing special defense just to guard him, so of course an attention like that going to change your playstyle but he is still super efficient...

@@steveosfp197 From within 5 feet. And if defence was allowed to be played in the NBA, he'd be nowhere near as efficient. Again it's easy to play "bully ball" when defenders are moving out of the way, it's another to post up another big man. Furthermore if he could be hacked like Shaq, it'd be embarrassing. I love Giannis, I just don't like what the NBA style of play did to his game. That's why Jokić is such an anomaly to the Americans who deem dunks and iso play more valuable than the set plays and post up play. Speaking of efficiency, since the stat is tracked the most efficient shot is a Jokić post up.

The biggest issue is that everyone can carry and travel, it makes defence impossible. AI was responsible for that, because his "crossover" was literally a street ball carry. Refs not calling travels is why everyone appears so "skilled", if they got sent back to the 80s they'd foul out in the first quarter.

The NBA game through the most 80's and 90's developed into a game where pure, natural athleticism was the defining factor of winning and losing, far more so the fundamentals. Overseas players started flipping that script in the 2000's with the likes of Duncan, Ginobli, Parker, and Nowitski, where fundamentals and a more cerebral and strategic type of player started making their mark. That has continued to evolve to where the game is not just about athleticism any more. Arenas is caught up in the mindset where athleticism should always be the deciding factor. He needs to pull is head out of his "arse" and quit being so xenophobic. He hates seeing players succeed doing things that he was never good at, much like a petulant child.

How the NBA could improve the "defense"? - Stop calling ticky tack fouls. - Stop handing out flagrant 1s like candies. - Fine $500k for EACH POTENTIAL flopping action. - Stop coddling star players. - Get rid of defensive 3 seconds; consequently, allow zone defenses. - Get rid of the so-called restricted area. - Stop allowing travelling, including borderline travel calls (if real basketball fans are unsure if it's a travel or not, it probably is). Oh my, is there an easier basketball question that this? 😂 The thing is, any ONE of these suggestions will most likely significantly improve defense and defensive numbers in an instant. Implementing all of it will, in my opinion, bring back the NBA's glory days.

Most NBA shows are hot-take, bar-level-convo shows. You won't hear any kind of "analysis" there, just hot takes. The hotter the better. "Giannis don't know how to win", coming from a dude who's famous about bringing a gun to the locker room. "Europeans cannot defend", but Gobert and Giannis are "Europeans". Even Embiid is European. Barring that Europeans are easier targets that KD and LBJ who have their "following" and in the case of LBJ lots of "soft power" in the US media, these shows effectively live by making hot takes.

The college part is actually the most stupid part, besides what you mentioned about a lot of defensive players of the year coming straight out of high school, most NBA players are one and done today. So I doubt they learn that much in 1 year, compared to the 90ies and 80ies where most players were 3 or 4 years in college.

This year I started to look closely at March Madenss, and it shows that he defends himself very well, with low scores like in the 90s in the NBA. What happens to those defenses when they become pros? money, fame, mvp only individual awards. Only the international ones put more passion into it than the Americans. This is also noticeable when Europeans represent their countries and Americans have the "luxury" of not wanting to go (there is no money) and they will never understand that. The last World Cup the lack of teamwork was noticeable, they don't pass, they don't rebound, just horrible. As a joke for Gilbert: how many Europeans were on the USA team in the last World Cup? he he

If a European Euroleague team brings in a couple of Americans, it is to score points or get rebounds. We have more attack dogs in Europe than in the NBA. Almost nobody scores 100 points in Europe. Who would be stupid in the NBA TO SIGN EUROPEAN DEFENSIVE PLAYERS? There are hundreds of them at a high level.
