Why European Tactics In NBA Should Be Illegal

Спорт

NBA players are so skilled they don’t need much help scoring from coaches.. But what happens when fancy European-like schemes meet NBA talent? In this video, BasketNews’ Augustas Suliauskas analyzes two coaches - Will Hardy of the Utah Jazz & Quin Snyder of the Atlanta Hawks - and how their tactics have been setting an example in the NBA.

In Europe is´t Sport and the Sport basketball is the best play wins the game wich can be achived by physical by advantage but also in a more effektiv way like in the Eu the taktiks. EU has defense, the NBA does not. EU calls travel violations, the NBA does not. EU players are forced into teamwork at every step of the way, where as everything about the NBA screams individualism. U.S. players ARE more athletic because they are forcibly pushed through a moneterized sports franchise system, with a secondary as a "school system". The actual students are only there to build up a life cripling debt, mind you.

Relax, if European torching the NBA, then we should always have at least 15 all-stars there. Giannis, Jokic and Doncic are the cream of the cream of the cream of the crop in Europe, that's why we call them Trinity of European basketball. I don't see anyone following them in Europe anytime soon. As a European, we all know, that they have the most advance facilities and most advance individual skills, NBA is the strongest league, as they have the strongest player. I would bet my life, Fred Vanvleet would torch Euroleague, more than Mike James and Micic. What more of Anthony Davis? Or even Jayson Tatum? James Harden? Kyrie Irving? Just accept folks, we play more as team here, they play in the NBA as individual.

Nope. Most 1st rounders have limited amounts of coaching. Tops 1yr in college. They spend their formative years in high school AAU where teams rely on that players one superior skill. They are rarely forced to work on they other skills. Worse, instead of playing at higher age group to get better vs stronger competition, you that 5ft7 little white kid guarding Zion in high school. Not need for anything too complicated since the main play is "Give Zion ball." The goal at that age in US is to win. In Europe in most sports, it's making complete players .

And as we know that every play every action evolves and changes slighty for certain players and certain opponents even a 3-4 minute video explaining that single variation of some action for a certain purpose with make it even more better . By that time he didn't really have much time and couldn't properly set up for the shot. If the pass was good, he'd have 3 seconds to make a wide open catch and shoot 3.

Great video, also a good recommendation for European audience, what to watch of NBA basketball. For me, both offences look good in the video clips, (I will check out Hardy's Utah, did not watch them before) but as I have watched Quinn's former and current teams, he has nice plays but they are focused on getting a 3pt shots in the end (or the defences wants them to have that in the post season) which leads them to live by 3 and die by 3, mostly the second one. But, as Atlanta wants to trade one of the two starting guards soon, it will be interesting to see if they will get some nice inside presence(nice as in "not limited offencively.. read:Gobert, Capela..)

Theoretically they could. But there are two main reasons. For one, NBA teams play far more games and at a higher frequency so it is harder to get tactics down well. And for another one, the culture doesn't allow it. Here in Europe we like tactical play. Across the pond they tend to like more of a physical game, with emphasis on individuality. Academy players are trained just for that. This "European" mentality is for sure a tough one to get used to when you've grown up with the American way. Although I'd certainly love to see more of it in the NBA as well

cos u dont really need run that many plays in the NBA. In the NBA theres no 3 sec rule that means no one can camp down the paint, more floor space cos the courts are just wider(harder to help in defense), role players can shoot 3 at a higher percentage, all that plus almost every team has atleast 1 star/superstar pretty much the most skilled basketball players in the world. so most teams just play 5 out basketball. imagine guarding curry kyrie doncic harden tatum embiid jokic giannis 1v1 its basically that cos if ur teammate helps u defens those guys its a wide open 3 for modern day role players who shoots at a higher clip.

NBA players have talent, Europeans mmmmmm... This is the most stupid and wrong quote ever. Talent doesn't mean take ball at your half and dunk using only strength. There is one more, run from your own half and shoot for three. Boy, watch Teodosic, Jokic, Bogdanović now or Dražen Petrović, Aleksandar Djordjević and Toni Kukoč back then and try to understand what means talent! And here I only mention 5 Serbs and one Croat without going deeper because their natural talent is enough to cover all NBA "talented" NBA players. Talent means you understand basketball, not to entertain audience with dunks, having FG shoot percentage 35 and attack last from 8 to 12 seconds... Talking about average points higher in NBA from Europe per game. Did you know that European games are 8 minutes shorter? Because you didn't mention it!

Uhm, I'm not trying to be exactly mean or rude and forgive me for saying this. I think they are too dumb for strategies. Like they might learn them but wouldn't know how to react well, in all the plays you have shown which were great, you can see players struggling what to do. They are just used to playing slip and screen. But they react like my grandma to plays, plus i don't think they would play that well since for those big things u need practise. And it shouldn't be that for an example one player on team knows them and others don't know and are running around like flies... I don't think they would be able to change that even if u brought out all good Euroleague coaches to NBA. Because they are just fundamentally preparing badly... Never have i seen a 3 point foul in NBA which is a shooting faul... Never ever. Instead of for an example idk if Murray from Nuggets whos got good shooting range goes for a three it should be better to faul him.

Name an all-star caliber player here in Europe, without citing someone that has been playing in the NBA. I bet my life, you can't, because there is none. As a European, I accept that even Fred Vanvleet a way way more skilled than Mike James, would totally destroy Euroleague. What more of Donovan Mitchell or Anthony Edwards? They would massacre our league here. The NBA players that are coming here are mostly washed and cannot find a roster spot in the NBA, but still made a name for themselves in Euroleague, watchout for Clyborn and Howard. I can still remember talking with my friend, if Pau Gasol and Tony Parker played their careers here, they would be Gods of basketball in Euroleague.
