The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

All the other teams just basically throwing bodies at Shaq hoping to slow him down, only to burn all the silly fouls. Good times.

Shaq at the time was the #1 Center in the NBA. With Hakeem, Ewing, Kareem, David Robinson gone or old no center could match him. He could eat any center 1 on 1 match ups at the time easily. He was #1 on the team. He scored alot and got alot of rebounds and reduced FG% on defense.

Most impressive and dominant playoff run I've ever watched. That's really their only argument, but watch those 16 games and ask yourself who would beat them in a 7 game series? They could have easily played in the modern game with all those 3&D players and it's not like anyone would have an answer for Shaq. Nobody who came before them would have a prayer.

Wilt Chamberlain GOD of NBA actually you are completely correct. People always seem to overlook Or forget about Tim Donaghy, the NBA referee who was investigated by the FBI, eventually confessing to altering playoff series to support his gambling and drug habit To top it all off after he confessed he was sentenced and served time in FEDERAL PRISON. Tim Donaghy look him up. He shed light and on how game 7 of the Laker vs Trailblazer 2000 series and the 2002 Laker vs King series, which both resulted in Laker championship. Mavs should have won in 2006 and Suns should have a ring. Mavs might be one of the worst because it was in a finals series. D Wade absolute ANNIHILATED the finals free throw record with 97 free throws to SHAQ’s 94. The only two people who have more had 98, and 99 and anyone else with even 80 or more attempts, not named D-wade (for what reason I don’t know) and Shaq who had hack a shack to INTENTIONALLY put him on the line because he was a line liability, Literally played in the EARLY 70s or earlier because the style of play and possession where higher. No person in the modern NBA era has come even close (no one within 20 free throws lol) to accomplishing those amount of free throw attempts dwade has taken in the finals (and to make this even worse it was a 6 games series lol) D-Wade is good but nobody is going to UNINTENTIONALLY foul Dwade in the finals more than people are INTENTIONALLY foul Shaq in the finals...

I gotta give it to the 1995 Rockets. You've got Drexler, Hakeem, Thorpe, Cassell, Horry, Maxwell, and Kenny Smith. They were so good they got past the Jazz, Suns, and Spurs just to get to the Finals. Then they swept the Magic. That's just a killer playoff run. People prefer to give teams credit for their playoff record and season record, but imo if you're the #1 seed, you should have an easier road to the Finals unless the 2nd seed in your conference just happens to be great as well. Here, the Rockets took on 4 teams that won more than 57 games and 2 of them won above 60 games. That Rockets team could've taken anyone down, but they're not given credit because of their regular season record.

Lenny Bourbon Welp, we’ll never know about Drexler v Kobe but considering Shaq was at his physical best at the time Hakeem owned him, I’d say Shaq would’ve had an even tougher time with Hakeem if Shaq had been slower. Shaq getting big only worked because all the star centers retired by then. Shaq faced no centers with great footwork or midrange game, so he could just bully his way to the basket with brute strength. Who were the centers at the time? Camby? Divac?

Seemed like Rick Fox was just everywhere when Duncan would kick the ball out to the three point line. I had no idea that team could kick it into such a high defensive gear.

After the Finals the only question I had was were they going to win 4 in a row, because I had zero doubt they were going to 3 peat. Also IMO, these Lakers had the greatest collection of role players in NBA history.

@@kookou13 97 Jazz would beat the Lakers. Put Shaq in a pick n roll with an elite mid-range shooter like Karl Malone and we'd really see how much of an elite defender Shaq is. Karl Malone is an elite post defender, and is good at using the bully ball Shaq does against him, making him lose balance and lose his footing. Kobe would be tough to deal with, but Byron Rusell might be able to keep Kobe from going off. Meanwhile, Kobe was an undisciplined defender in 01, and Shaq literally was just a shot blocker and an immovable object, so he didn't even need to have a good defensive IQ. Karl Malone could bait Shaq out of the paint, or take the open mid-range they give him. Jeff Hornacek was also a 3-point sniper still, and. the only thing I could see the Jazz losing is the rebound battle, but LA would have to settle for more long 2's and 3's, so Karl Malone could pick up more rebounds. Overall, Jazz in 6 or 7.

Of course it's hard to say who would beat who so I'll say what would be good matchup. The early 80's Lakers had a lot of talent on those squads like Norm Nixon, Wilkes, and a young Cooper, Mac and other's 😅86" Celtics, can't see nobody stopping McHale because Shaq couldn't guard him because he would stay in foul trouble. 89' Bad Boys, everyone knows them for being physical but never mention they had a lot of skills on this team plus they went against Jordan so they would be ready for a Kobe. This team Houston is a maybe because they went against a Shaq+Penny led by Hakeem a bunch of shooters and a slasher named The Glide. The 96' Bulls because they had a Big team and 3 HOF players. The 04' Pistons because they beat Shaq+Kobe. I think it's the 14' Spurs led by Duncan, Parker, Manu and a young Kawhi. The 17' Warriors had a whole lot of fire power in Curry, Thompson and Durant who will be in the HOF one day. Oh I forgot the 83" Sixers with big Mo, little Mo, The DOCTOR , Toney and Bobby Jones and others.

Those regular season stats are misleading. The Lakers slept through the first 74 games then hit the afterburner and left everyone else in their dust. This _should have been_ a 65 win team at least, with a top 5 defense but they were injured, inconsistent, and complacent to start the year. As soon as Fish came back, they began to gel and hit their stride just before the playoffs. Remember, the Spurs were the top seed that year with the league's best record and home court. Many figured they would be favorites. The Lakers made the Spurs look like a fucking D3 squad. They took them apart with ease, it was insane watching them beat a prime Duncan by 40. They were on that good of a roll. The only team that could ACTUALLY flip the proverbial switch.
