I think that's in large part why KD left, he was getting criticisms that he was only able to win cuz of the greatness of GSW built by Curry/Klay. KD is just big mad about the whole narrative, but myself and others will give him a lot of credit and legacy if Brooklyn becomes a championship team. I'd argue KD is a better scorer and bigger asset to a team than Steph but so long as he's on that roster I can see why you'd deem it Steph's warriors

Not when you can have prime Shaq in the post and he is scoring at an 80+% rate, because there is no one physical enough to slow him down. Shaq would be scoring 40-50 without breaking a sweat and then to keep the defense honest Kobe going to be dropping an easy 30+ on them as well.

Who also can score from 3pt land, and you are working everything through Shaq it slows the game down and GSW don't get nearly as many possessions. If you have no one to guard Shaq, and they don't, then Lakers win, not to mention you have to deal with Kobe.

People forget Shaw, Rider, Fisher, Horry and Kobe could all hit 3 pt shots. This wasn't a 90s team where nobody shot 3s it just wasn't 30 attempts a game

A lot of players would foul out and still won't stop shaq's 35 10 for three quarters, while Kobe also giving you 28ppg and closing in the 4th quarter. But nobody can stop KD and curry, it's a very intriguing match up

Dude, the Kings at least had Vlade, plus that was a Laker team on the way to a 3rd title. Shaq in 2001 was more physical and the team was stronger. The Lakers would beat Golden State. I lived through it (LAkers early 2000's Dynasty) and witnessed Prime Shaq. Nobody could guard him in todays game, period.

J A E Y G A M I N G 1. Steph and Dray’s pick and roll is deadly too 2. How is Kobe supposed to defend all three of their superstars at once? 3. How are they gonna contain the two best three point shooters ever? Even if they do, they still got KD, who is arguably the best scorer ever. 4. The Warriors also have one of the best defenders in the league in Draymond Green, and another outstanding defender in Klay. Sure, Shaq will score a lot in the paint. Kobe would score a lot too. However, Shaq’s effectiveness would be limited due to his free throws, and Kobe’s field goal percentage was never anything to write home about. I just don’t see how they’re gonna combat both the constant barrage of threes and the Curry/Dray pick and roll.

Kobe would eat every defender. And Shaq requires about 3 defenders.

Curry maybe but he would't be that great. He's slow and he would be shooting those half court 3 pointers all day because that's all he'd be able to do. That’s just an opinion because we can only go off who they are in their own era. So if we’re going off both their eras, then Warriors are clearly the better team all around. Bruh, you don't have to stop shaq to beat the lakers. Matter of fact, you bank on shaq having to score 45+. Kobe is still going to get his points, but if you get draymond or kd on him you can fuck up his efficiency so it's 25pts on 40% shooting or some shit like that. And shaq is a great rim protector, but wit boogie cousins he's not going to be able to stand in the paint. If he does he's leaving a shooter open for 3. And in the pick and roll shaq isn't mobile enough to stop a lineup full of shooters. Hand checking was still partially in effect, but if you really think that's enough to completely throw them niggas off, you remember the time too fondly. Assuming everyone is healthy, this is a 7 game series.

shaq would not be as dominant as he was back then and we saw why that occurs in his prime after the 02 season when the nba introduced the 5 second back to the basket back down in the paint and 3 in the key rules on offense limiting his effect on the game cause the nba got tried of low ratings and shaq bully ball cause it was unappealing to watch.. without phil's system and telling him to get into shape in 99 and knock off his side show act and focus which led him to be mvp and then lead la to a 15-1 01 playoffs before he got lazy.. shaq would not win without phil and the rules he played under and era before the 3 ball became so important...he couldn't even score on ben Wallace

Shaq would get his, but it's about the win at the end. Remember that Ben Wallace on the Pistons was able to 1v1 defend Shaq in 2004, and even Dennis Rodman was able to go against Shaq 1v1 in '98 at times. However, the Lakers would win easily because nobody on the Warriors could deal with the rest of the Lakers. People forget just how physical prime Fisher was. When the Cavs got physical with the Warriors in '15, Curry was a complete non-factor. Kobe is a strong defender. Don't forget he modeled his game after MJ, who was able to get to the paint in *spite* of handchecking. And let's not forget the big body defenders like Horry and Green. The warriors are able to score continuously because you can't get physical anymore. But if you are allowed to put an elbow or strong pick those 20 ppg shooters will drop to 10 instantly.

Third time this year they’ve had this debate.

makis papachristou How about Cousins ? He is 6'11 and pretty big His is way better at FT than Shaq(which is terrible) and would force him to guard from 3 point line Cousins and Green combined would handle pretty well Shaq

Shaq can eat in the paint but Cousins is a better passer, quicker and way more athletic. Stop acting like the Warriors are feeding it to the key every time they have 4 players who can score 20+ easily.

100% agree..different era..those lakers would be bums today heck most of them were bums back then on the bench shooting below 40% which just wouldn't fly today .. .have people ever heard of basketball reference?...we don't need to go on emotion and nostalgia or just opinion..we have the stats..it shows how d fish was the only shooter la had they could relly on to make more than 1 3 a game really...and he made about 2 in 36 minutes a game..the warriors have about 6 guys who can do that on different nights each and about 3-4 ..kd klay curry jerebko green ..how do you guard them?...imagine when cousins comes back..you just hope they turn it over and miss and make mistakes on d and o and suck

Probably not the finals, curry does choke rather often. Curry could lead them to a great record. But he gets injured a lot. Not to mention didnt really have success until he got klay and draymond.

Yes he does get injured, you're right about that. Yeah they didn't have success until Klay and Draymond, but they're successful as they are because of his impact on the floor, especially Klay. Don't discredit greatness.

Because Steph is not nearly as Athletic as AI... The amount of work that AI does would not be carried by Steph.. Steph is one of the best shooters ever and the league is offense driven now so all the super tough D... Not gone happen and when teams do check him really tough like that he has struggled..

Lmao not even close. Thank god Shaq had big enough shoulders to carry Kobe to 3 titles. Kobe couldn’t even get out the first round when Shaq left and missed the playoffs in his prime.
