Same. Over the course of two months I improved my pushup and pullup maximum by around 50%, bodyrow and kneeraise was almost doubled and it was waaaay less stressful than I wouldve expected. Oh, and dont forget the planks of course. Went from slightly over a minute to more than 4 minutes. And here I learned, I shouldve started using a harder variation :)

Right on time! I'm in the middle of an abs month program that I found on YT and decided to watch your vids to refresh some of the details on planks/mountain climbers/hip ups etc. Also huge thanks for that 60 days flexibility workout!! I'm 2 weeks in and my lowerback and shoulder pain (had to go into hardcore study-mode during the quarantine) are now gone! Mad respect

  • @MoPoppins

I'm a 45 yr old female, and I can vouch for the plank (and its variations) as an optimal exercise to develop all-around strength quickly. It's gentle and effective, and as you advance in strength, you can increase the lever, as El Eggs mentioned. I wasn't able to do mountain climbers until a couple weeks ago, but I've scaffolded my strength, using the plank as one of the core exercises in my regimen. If you're recovering from adrenal fatigue, fibromyalgia, or other conditions that have debilitated your body, the plank family will help you to rebuild it. I was wondering what I did to develop a more defined waist about a decade ago, and it was the plank. I added knee-to-elbow plank (2:30) about a week ago, and now my waist is looking slimmer and tighter again--the spare tire look is gone.

Thanks for your comment! I'm 32 and trying to build back strength after 4-5 years of chronic health issues that made me unable to work out in any way and I lost most of my strength while gaining 25 extra pounds. I used to be fairly fit. I'm trying to find gentle and progressive ways to build back and your comment is helpful and gives me hope! Definitely gonna start training planks.

@@estherfriesen2175 I’m glad you’re starting to build back your strength! 😀👏 The gentle approach is really the way to go w/ those of us who’ve been decimated systematically. Better the tortoise who finishes the race, than the hare who has a head start, but becomes complacent. I was born into narcissistic abuse & neglect, and have been surrounded by narcs all my life (school, work, general public), which left me depleted, so I’m focusing on self-care because I’m still here and want to experience what it’s like to thrive PHYSICALLY. ANIMAL MOVEMENT / FLOW is also really gentle, and there are lots of great KZread channels out there for that. One of my faves is SMOOV ( youtube.com/@smoovmoves ). Wishing you all the best on your wellness journey! 🙏✨💕 🐢

After viewing several of your videos, I subbed because your content is stellar. As someone who did many workout programs (training calisthenics consistently since 2014) I can say with confidence that your programs are among the best. Few other paid programs and especially no free program (looking at you RR) come close to it. The results are amazing. Considering that results come much slower for people who have been training for multiple years I am really astonished about this. Thank you calimove!

@@ttv_mxr_btw_sweatytryhard6824 Besides, planks are a strength conditioning excercise. You may gain lot of strength, they would be "harder", but maybe not bigger. In order to see your abs you need 2 things, low fat percentaje, and Bigger abs. Of Course, abs are not exactly as all other muscles they wont grow a lot like your biceps or quad may do, but it helps when it comes to see them. Aand, 1 month, is not that greeat amount of time. Maybe the combo of the 2 months with different excercies made the thing =)

Not necesarilly, sometimes an exercise really is perfect for what you want or awful. Would you need a scientific explanation for why headbutting a tree wouldn't be a good exercise for your abs? Of course I know you never meant something so ridiculous, but I was trying to make a point that there really are things which don't "depend" and are simply good or bad. Like pointing your elbows outside while doing push ups instead of letting them move along the body, that's bad from any point of view. So no, it's not allways "it depends":)

  • @khakicam5400

@@ovidiudante, it depends, perhaps a targeted outcome is to get some time off work to train abs more, hence the tree headbut. In this case I'd recommend hard enough for mild concussion symptoms to convince the Dr to write a certificate, but not hard enough to crack your skull. Good luck and feel free to buy one of my programmes.

I like doing long-lever planks, just be careful if your back is not that good or may hurt.

These sort of titles need to stop. It raises doubt over the value of foundational exercises unless you watch. Its an unnecessarily aggressive bargain between creator and viewer and fitness would be better without it

On the other hand, it is very helpful for people who are looking towards educational fitness like me. These videos are very resourceful and informative; discussing different forms of movements and etc.

Yeah but youtube's algorithm favours content with clickbait titles and provocative thumbnails. If they didn't have titles like this viewers wouldn't even see the content in the first place

I stopped working out for 4 years, meanwhile I was cycling (for the last 2 years and a half), I started with different variations of the plank like 2 weeks ago, I can already do more than 2 minutes plank without any problem. I guess the muscles remember. I was working out for 5 years before I stopped.

Great video as always. Just one suggestion: next time, also talk about breath control during plank position.
