April 2019 Budget Recap

Today, I am showing you how I close out my budget every month.
I am also showing you what my spending and budget looked like for April 2019.
What do you do with your budget after the month is over, and you’re ready to begin a new month? Most people don’t realize it, but your spending throughout the month gives you some incredibly helpful information.
One of the first steps to creating and sticking to a realistic budget is tracking your expenses. Your spending is the underlying foundation for creating a budget and ensuring that your budgets in the future are successful.
If you are not aware of where your money is going, you can’t make the best decisions for your dollars. Today, I am going to show you how to extract all of the vital information from your expense trackers using three helpful worksheets.

I am OBSSESSED with your videos. I have tried many different ways to “manage” my finances and pay off debt. Well, I paid off debt twice and I’m right back to where I was before. I never learned HOW to budget in a way that worked for me. I bought the printable version of your book (my daughter thought was a form of oxymoron, but it is an investment.) I am stumbling through May, but I’ll get it. Paying more attention to my finances, I have found out that my account had over $440 of unauthorized purchases in April! So I have cancelled all subscriptions that aren’t necessary, shredded my credit cards, and met with a bank consultant to let her know what I am doing and adjust a few things as needed. I go through my online banking every night to see if there are any charges now that I am unaware of or have forgotten. I just want to say THANK YOU! Your current situation is one I could relate to and it is a constant reminder to me that it is possible. Many blessings and have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Love watching your videos, I started my budget and really written everything down of what I spend and I have been doing the sinking funds for bills that are due once a year and let me tell You that I started this on Jan 2019 and so far I have a total of almost $800 in the envelopes. And I have been avoiding to swipe my card. Its crazy how much difference it makes and how your little cushion of $$ starts to build up over time. I was shocked 🤩yesterday when I added everything in my envelope and knowing that I will have the money for when my bills are due, and I don’t have to stress about it like before. I’m happy to say that This year will be the first time to pay full cash for our cars insurance, and for all the other bills on my list. I’m also doing the emergency fund challenge and little by little it’s adding up. If all of this money were to be in the account let me tell you it would be all gone on nonsense items, but Im happy that that is not the case thanks to your videos. I also stopped shopping around every weekend and eating out every day. Im loving it. Seeing my little cushion get bigger every month. I have also paid off my debt and working on paying off couple more by the end of 2019. Thank you so much for your motivation videos, and for taking the time to share them with us and helping us. Always looking forward to your next video. 🤗 I have 4 boys and I’m happy because they see how I manage my money and they are starting to pick up and know they importance of managing your money. My 11 yr old is the one that thinks twice before spending a dime. 😊He loves to save his allowance. 👏🏻🙌🏻

I bought your workbook last year, in June, and I tried to jump straight in without tracking anything etc.. I ended up failing in September and giving up due to hubby’s hours getting cut in October-February.. I just traded in my 2020 Kia for a 2021 SUV due to issues with my back and it hard getting in and out of my car, I needed something that wasn’t as low.. my car notes went up from $550 a month to now being $823 a month, not including insurance.. I started looking at things again with your budgeting system but actually going into depth with everything and not just trying to start budgeting the next paycheck.. It’s been a week and I finally have ALL your stuff writing down from your budgeting to use a sample.. I printed out the bank statements for 3 months and went through out spending.. I’m honestly shocked at how much came in and went out.. I felt like we didn’t have enough money to cover anything, but I wasn’t accounting for all the $5’s here and the $10’s there.. it’s a real eye opener when you see everything for the first time... it has made me want to get a grasp on EVERYTHING and really buckle down on OUR spending.. I use to be the worst at spending money especially online.. in the last year I have kept my promise to not spend freely, but even though I’ve cut down 80% of the spending it’s still needs to be cut even more.. I’m so thankful I found your budgeting system, thank you so much for helping others in their budgeting journey.. I am excited to see what the Rest of this year brings us, and actually be able to look back and see the progress next year.. I’m dedicated and determined.. I just hate I waited this late in life.. my husband will be 40 next month and I’ll be 37 in August.. we don’t have a lot of years left to actually achieve what him and I are wanting.. I’m praying that God gives up the years needed to make things better for us and we won’t have to struggle when we get in our 50’s..

Hey some minor good news: I think and I hope Thanks to The Budget Mom and Kumiko I am going to 5 Cash Envelopes starting with my May Budget. I final realized the problem: If the money is in the checking account I will see it and say oh, that can wait till next pay to replace/ replenish it so a few examples are Emergency fund, we heat our home by oil so I need to save for that and cash is the better way to save until I need another fill up,

This was very helpful because I get paid on 1st and 15th but the 1st check always gets deposited on 30th or 31st or even 28th and it confuses me on how to handle that. ❤️ Thanks!!

Miko! I’m so excited!! After an unemployment crisis and near disaster, I have finally been hired! I so look forward to following your system to start my new life. I’m ashamed to say I am starting off with a lot of bills that I stopped paying. Saving my house was my priority, even if I had to go without lights or food! How to I categorize these expenses...what is the best way to deal with these issues. Sorry to be dumb..this is new to me., ❤️

I’m confused about how your starting balance is part of your income for the month. Why wasn’t that balance just allocated for the previous month if you’re giving every dollar a plan at the end of the month? And if you’re starting May with a balance, are you double counting money as income for April and then May? I know you know your own system, but it’s kind of confusing trying to follow along.
