September 2019 Paycheck Budget Recap

Today, I am showing you how I close out my budget every month.
I am also showing you what my spending and budget looked like for September 2019.
What do you do with your budget after the month is over, and you’re ready to begin a new month? Most people don’t realize it, but your spending throughout the month gives you some incredibly helpful information.
One of the first steps to creating and sticking to a realistic budget is tracking your expenses. Your spending is the underlying foundation for creating a budget and ensuring that your budgets in the future are successful.
If you are not aware of where your money is going, you can’t make the best decisions for your dollars. Today, I am going to show you how to extract all of the vital information from your expense trackers using three helpful worksheets.

I received my workbook today!!! So excited!!! I’m at work and received a notification from my apartment complex saying my package was delivered. I’m like “what package?” I called the office and they said it was from The Budget Mom!!! Can’t wait to get my hands on it! ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for the financial transparency. I have so much shame around my finances and it helps dispel this idea that everyone else is just effortlessly coasting through life without even trying to steer their money. Im actually scared to confront this and i put it off for years since i was just measuring my success by waking up alive the next morning. But i guess truly valuing my finances is also valuing my life.

I was where you are. Once you confront it, the shame lessens. Shame thrives in the dark. I put a spotlight on my finances and now I have a solid plan for my money and confidence that I will be debt free before end of 2020

i totally understand, i felt sick when i confronted my debt recently & tracked down every cent i spent over 3 months, i was like wtf have i been doing...knowing full well i was even worse in the years before that. But once i did it actually took some weight off my shoulders..& over the last couple of months, i've actually changed my mindset & made it fun to sit down & paycheck plan a couple months ahead as i dont have those 'oh shit i forgot about _____ payment'. i'm excited for next year in being prepared for birthdays & christmas. i'm getting so good at deleting & unsubbing from retailers emails trying to sell me on their next sale. i dont need it. :)anyway, hang in there, you can do it & we're all there with ya :D big hugs

Wow.. That is such an extensive breakdown. Covering every cent and every inch of progress. It's incredible. I wasn't going to purchase your planner bc I thought it was to expensive. But now I've totally changed my mind. I'm also a paper n pen person..lol. Miko, thank you very much. So much of your time and effort has gone into this and it definitely shows. I'm retiring in 8 months. I've got some debt, but I'm doing good. Next yr I'll have my pension and social security as my income. I just bought a house, too. So I've been thinking a lot about your way of budgeting and how I want to continue and perfect my own budget. Next July I'll be receiving a monthly income. No more bi-weekly. Lol. So I want to ensure, more than ever, that every cent of my income is accounted for. Traveling a bit is definitely going to be added as a savings expense. Haaa. You blew my mind with this. Especially the net worth information!! Take care. You're so awesome😍😎

Thank you for sharing and being very transparent about your personal finances and budgets. Congrats on your way to home ownership and doing it the debt free way. I'm excited!!❤

Just got my planner from you today! I can't wait to begin making progress to pay off my credit card debt using your advice. I have so far paid off about half, but I think I will be able to completely knock it out in no time after discovering your channel! It's been a struggle since I am a student and my income is quite inconsistent, but this is definitely giving me the push I need to get organized to understand where my money is going.

I will have to add a net-worth tracker to my budgeting. I love the where did my money go pages. Feeling the trade off is so important. I like how you phrase that. There is always a trade off. For me to celebrate a victory might mean I stay in debt a month longer. It took me a while to figure that out. I need to simply say I'm loving everything about this video.❤♥💕

Hi Miko!, I love what you are doing and your transparency. I just had a question regarding the “where did my money go” worksheet. Wouldn’t it be more accurate to estimate percentages based on your actual income and not you income plus your starting checking account balance, it kind of skews the numbers, especially since your starting checking account balance, aka as your buffer is almost the same at the end of the month.

Hi! I just found you and LOVE your videos! I have a question. My daughter just started cheerleading this fall, but her coach will randomly send home a list with dollar amounts ranging anywhere from $30-300 and expecting the items or a check for them the next day. Would you make a sinking fund for this? B/c it keeps throwing off my system. Thanks!! ❤️

Hi there!🙂I still have a hard time understanding your monthly budget for saving in the budget category worksheet. You have a budget of 1500 but you tend to only have a few items on the expense trackers for savings. Do you include sinking funds in that number? Or are there other payments that you don’t track on the trackers that are included in the savings budget? 🤔 This is my first full month of tracking so I want to make sure I understand before I get to the end of the month. :) Thank you! Budgeting has been really eye opening and fun!😊

I have a question. How/why do you decide to continue to make large savings contributions instead of paying off each sinking fund? For example, once I pay off all of my debt and I have a solid savings cushion should I continue to make small contributions towards my sinking funds or make larger contributions to avoid an "extra expense"?

We own a small buisness and i am struggling with starting my journey for budgeting. we have been tracking every dollar we spend for over 5 years but are still stuck on the week to week living. I NEEEEED A Budget! with income forever changing its so hard. Some weeks we have orders being picked up and paid every day and other weeks I dont have any pay at all. What do you reccomend for breaking up the income. I do track what we bring in and what goes out but i want to start our debt free journey ASAP and that is the only thing holding me back. Exampe this week we had a show and made 1,200 but we dont have another show for 2 weeks so i will be getting paid from a few misc orders maybe $150 or so. what we have been doing is saying okay that will be for the next 3 weeks and divide that by 3 but clearly something isnt working cause we are in debt and im sick and tired of it! HELP!

I'm confused about your checking account buffer... Do you subtract that amount in your checkbook register and like pretend it's not there? Or you actually show the balance of your checking account to reflect what is literally in there? Does that make sense?

  • @stephaniejane306

    @stephaniejane306

You count the checking account buffer. You can see at the top of her trackers there is spot to put your starting balance. You are using your starting balance to either grow, to use online shopping, or to use for a bill that is more expensive. It is a flexible and fluid amount. I look at it as a paper record of my transaction/checking account.
