Paycheck Budget Recap June 2019

Today, I am showing you how I close out my budget every month.
I am also showing you what my spending and budget looked like for June 2019.
What do you do with your budget after the month is over, and you’re ready to begin a new month? Most people don’t realize it, but your spending throughout the month gives you some incredibly helpful information.
One of the first steps to creating and sticking to a realistic budget is tracking your expenses. Your spending is the underlying foundation for creating a budget and ensuring that your budgets in the future are successful.
If you are not aware of where your money is going, you can’t make the best decisions for your dollars. Today, I am going to show you how to extract all of the vital information from your expense trackers using three helpful worksheets.

I purchased the printable...which was a great option for me in a remote area of Canada. What I like about it is that you’ve done the hard, detailed thinking about the organization and layout of the budget binder and the forms. Therefore I don’t have to! I can just dive right into my actual numbers and focus on that. It’s already pretty enough that no mental effort is needed to decorate it either. I find that the MORE time I spend digging into the forms and your explanations, the LESS overwhelmed I feel about financial planning. That’s the opposite of nearly every other option I’ve tried! Thank u for making the printable!

This is so true! One of my favorite acts at the end of the month, planning for the next month's budget, is to have something left over in the category that I can decide what to do with. It's like a mini-bonus 😍💸💰 love it. Love this video!!

I have tried the envelope system: ended up having my husband taking money from other envelopes and we didn't have a tally on the back so we never really knew when and where the money was actually spent. I tried budgeting apps, but with the transactions being automatically retrieved I felt like I was more tracking than planning our expenses. In 8 years of marriage we have never been able to save money for upcoming expenses and things we actually care about. We are literally paycheck to paycheck and I am so ashamed, especially with having kids, of not feeling more prepared in case anything was to go wrong, and I know that things are bound to happen at some point. I just purchased your BBP workbook and I am hopeful to make a change! I have printed out the last three months of our bank records, bought a binder and some pretty highlighters and I am about to get started. Wish me luck!! PS. I love your videos, your personality, and your energy. God bless you and your family! Thank you for doing what you do and sharing it with all of us! oxoxoxox

New to the channel. I used the envelope system a long time ago. Parents did too -- that's where I learned it. Now I know how much my bills are in my head and don't need a diary like this. Every so often I calculate how much my bills are and how much I save and I never overspend. I never have debt. My savings are for possible new (used) car in the future and maybe some fun now that I have a ton of savings. The only helpful hint I have is -- pay utilities and credit cards more than the bill. I always have a credit on those bills. Comcast loves me and the electric and gas are in credit state all the time. Coincidentally, my biggest utility bills start in the Winter and I can skip a payment or two because of the credit on the bill and that comes in handy for Christmas. The only problem with paying extra on the credit cards I use (Amex for grocery stores gives me 3% cash back and other cards do the same) is that if you have a credit over $25 they send a refund and then I have a zero balance.

Hi there! My name is Tina (don't know why the name says my husbands name 🤦🏻‍♀️) anyway, I was referred here from a friend. I'm a forensic Accountant here in California. I was trying to explain finances and more specifically budgeting to my 19 year old son. And my friend over heard. She said I was over thinking it and making it more complicated than it needed to be. So she said to have him come here and watch. I just want to say you are amazing at explaining this! I didn't quite understand how I was being so complicated when explaining budgeting until I listened to your videos. In my career I have to be so detailed that it's so hard to go back to basics. I want to say thank you! I also think I will be watching more as well. And he has already learned so much in the past week from watching!

I am financially challenged! I have tried repeatedly to make a budget. And always fail. I can't seem to discipline myself to track my spending. I depend on online banking to do it. I check their balance to know if I have money left. Also Dave Ramsey suggested a percentage for different categories. And their are tons more with different suggestions. I have never used cash envelopes but want to try it. But the fact if you have funds left to carry over the next month you have to add it as income. Mind boggling. I think I would have to pull it out & just start with budget amount. Thank God I have auto pay so my fixed Bill's get paid. But you do make me want to try!

Hi Miko! Thank you so much for all the work that you do. Your videos and your website/blog have truly revolutionized the way I manage my finances and work my budget. You are absolutely assisting me in creating a solid financial future for my family and me. I do have one request. I don’t use cash envelopes only because that method doesn’t work for me. I like the philosophy behind the method, however. Would you be willing to create some options for a system(s) that we might be able to use as an alternative to the cash envelope system? Maybe there’s a way to use the idea/philosophy of the cash envelopes, but rather than pull out the actual cash, I can write it down in my budget as an expense and track it but just pay those expenses with my checking account instead? Is there a method that you can come up with for those of us who don’t use the actual cash within the cash envelope system? I feel if anyone can come up with a strategic and functional system like that, you can. It would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks again for all you do. 🙏🏽
