Just wanted to say thank you for such a helpful review! I’ve been going over and over in my mind about which monitor to buy for my PS5 and this helped a great deal! I was concerned about not having the same advantage in playing FPS games like CoD with the refresh rates and low input lag etc but you covered it perfectly! While playing CoD multiplayer or Warzone did you find it to be way better than playing on a say a regular Samsung 4K tv that isn’t 120Hz or have any special features etc? Thanks again and my son and I are proudly new subscribers 😁

Hi! I'll be using this monitor mostly for console gaming and watching movies. I noticed from your review that the Automatic Brightness Limiter feature was not mentioned. (Or maybe I missed it?) I want to ask your experience with it especially with gaming. I play Horizon, Uncharted, and other story-heavy games where there are bright scenes. Snowy scenes/areas are popular these days. Has the ABL kicked in aggressively on your usage? How about when watching brighter movies? I just bought this monitor at NZ$1399, still waiting for it, although now I'm a bit worried. Thanks for the review btw!

Hi Mon - I had no issues with this screen. It performed well and the OLED is very bright. I played the games you mentioned actually and they all looked great with no ABL issues I would have mentioned it otherwise. My ONLY criticism is of OLED's in general and that's the reflection. The monitors from AORUS allow for tweaking in the menu options (which I've done with my Fi32U that I use daily) and it looks exactly how I want it for me. Thank you for watching and your positive comment on the review. I'll be looking at other gaming focused projectors, displays from different brands and also more from AORUS when they launch new monitors. Much appreciated ~ E

@@elmalloc Yes I got the monitor. It was an easy buy for me since it was massively discounted (~NZ$1000 off) and other oled options were basically double the price. ABL was very noticeable when I tested it initally with resizing a notepad from 1/4 of the screen to 1/3 it kicked in. I personally didn't notice it too much while gaming though, even on the snowy mountain areas of Horizon Forbidden West. Not sure if that's comparable to Flight Simulator brightness and colors though. Hopefully that helps!

I compare ultra HD movies and it's OK which is an honest summary. I think there are deep dives into the screen in written form reviews online. This used as a gaming monitor is excellent quality and I highly recommend. I do have an LG but it's QLED not OLED. I do have viewers that own C1s and say this looks great for gaming and would pick this up. For the price is this an excellent screen!

  • @ciddire

Hey! I have a C8 55in ,C1 55in and a FO48U. The LG tv's are better at displaying movies (so long as you are using Dolby Vision) however, even without the Dolby Vision, this OLED will beat out any other standard TV. The C1 is an amazing display, but the 'TV' aspects of it can get in the way of it's use. (There's lots of rebooting when inputs are changed, it's just generally clunky) The FO48U acts like a normal monitor. I don't have any quirky 'tv issues' that get in the way of operation. With that said - I think the deal @ $7xx make this one of the best monitor purchases you can make. The only 'non' OLED in this segment would be the FV43U & the ASUS version of the same panel. However, that display has some MAJOR drawbacks due to being a VA panel (I returned my FV43U in favor of the FO48U) There's nothing that really compares to an OLED. Once you use one, it's hard to go back.

There hasn't been any real reviews of QD-OLED tech yet as it hasn't released in the consumer sphere yet. It looks great at CES, but there's been many a time where a CES project doesn't exactly meet what the end result is (looking at you ASUS.) I personally own a C1 and a FO48U, the FO acts more like a 'traditional' monitor as far as operation goes. There's some janky issues with the C1 (rebooting after display switching and general TV nonsense) that reduces it's ease of use with PC. Since the F05 firmware update my FO48U comes closer to the same brightness as my C1 does (I have an EVO panel C1) to the point where it isn't so noticeable. The only major sticking point remaining with the FO is the aggressive ABL on HDMI. However, for reasons that aren't clear, the ABL is less aggressive when used on display port. If gigabyte can open the firmware up a bit more, the FO has a chance to dramatically improve.

Would you recommend this or the FV43U as a PC monitor? One is OLED, one is VA, but one is also only 43" where this is 48".

AORUS make outstanding monitors I really wouldn't fear this. Love the range!

Not being able to control ASBL gives this monitor a NO-GO RED FLAG!! When you have a small white window but cant stretch it without the whole monitor going dim or grey, or when you cannot have a white background in a movie without it turning greyish blue is a NIGHTMARE! If they let you disable that, this monitor would be a no brainer. It's no wonder why they can't get rid of them at $799.00.

    What's ASBL?

automatic static brightness limiter. It’s really bad on this monitor (actually the worst). If you have a super bright screen it dims and changes the color. You cannot have an image with a solid white picture, it will look white for half a second then completely change the image to grey or blue.

@@johnathansmith1003 Have you heard much about ASUS 48" OLED? I heard it has a good heatsink and apparently can run brighter, because of that, I would hope it's ABL is better than LG C1 and AORUS implementation.
