Yeah, it's really lame. They completely fumbled the intro to Kang. Now I know that the strongest iteration of him sucks and gets whupped by Ant Man. zzzzzzzzz Seriously why not have him wipe the Ant Family out? It's not like we need to see any more of these characters, there's clearly nothing interesting left to do with this franchise. Kang should've killed at least a few of them. The fact that Ant Man gets out of his encounter with Kang completely unscathed, without losing ANYTHING, is so ridiculous. Like just kill someone! Wasp was barely even in this movie, why are we so desperately clinging onto the character? So she can barely be in the next movie too? I knew it would be a non-starter, too. Everyone was losing their minds at the trailer, freaking out about how dark and epic the movie looked, and I'm like.... naw guys, it's gonna be the same marvel shlock. Nothing interesting is allowed to happen in this movie, because it has to set up for the ACTUAL interesting movie.

Can I be honest? That four second clip of MODOK saying he doesn't know what to be and asking what he should be [only to be waved away] really hurt me. It almost feels meta in the way that they obviously had no idea what to actually do with MODOK and bringing Darren back as MODOK in the quantum realm could have worked well but they fumbled it. It's sad, especially with that weird uncertain smile on his face. Watching this series die strictly due to bad writing really hit me in the fan balls.

Quantumania really should have been a tense movie where our heroes battled against a more terrifying/intriguing Modok. Once Modok is defeated our heroes are hit in the face with the introduction of Kang. (who was never known by anyone even Janet. Also, think of Darth Vader and Palpatine.) Kang easily defeats our heroes. Kang Brutally kills Janet and Hank. Scott, Hope, and Cassandra barely escape with horrified/Saddened looks on their faces. And throughout the Marvel films, we see post-credits scenes of Kang killing multiverse versions of Marvel heroes to slowly gain pieces of "something" to control the multiverse. Also another suggestion Have Kang kill Cassandra I know it's gnarly but wouldn't you say it would make Kang instantly memorable as the first Marvel villain who killed a child on screen in full display as her loved ones watched?

Can't kill Cassie as she's either replacing Scott and/or joining the Young Avengers. But I agree with everything else. They should've made this a lower stakes movie with MODOK (could've kept everything the same, but never revealing Kang until the end). Tying Janet to Kang just makes this worse because they literally recently returned from Thanos' snap. Kang is MULTIVERSAL & from the future so he's clearly an imminent threat. The fact that she saw his memories & said absolutely nothing is just horrible writing.

Well, that's part of the problem. You don't _need_ to raise the stakes; you're telling a different story now. You need to raise the challenge, to show that your heroes have grown, but the stakes? Nah. You have to have stakes, but they need to be ones that the heroes and the audience can relate to. Inasmuch as the stakes are 'the end of the MCU!' it's not Kang that's going to end it; it's a series of shitty movies, so threatening that Kang is going to conquer the multiverse is an empty threat to the audience, because we _know_ you're planning to sell more movies with the franchise.

Any other kangs are just normal humans or other beings who have absolutely nothing to do with time or the management of the multiverse. The only other entity that is similar to kang is immortus and that’s because they are literally the same person but in two different bodies. Also, why tf is he black? He’s supposed to be a relative of Reed Richards of the fantastic 4 who is probably the whitest dude alive. Keep on saying "the avengers are doom, the avengers can't never win " my mind is like they can win , it's called franchise. Also who are the avengers, right now? I know this a theory or rumor ,if it's true in future Marvel movies. It's just make it more boring and lame, because I don't care about mcu no more, because of phase 4 and Antman 3 is dogshit. I have to say, I went to this movie with a date and was not impressed... Although I will say, when Kang threatens Scott with Cassie's life, I thought that made him pretty threatening... HOWEVER, they had to fuck it up by making him omega cringe at the end. The make up for Kang was really a strange choice since they were making the movie dark, so he looks like hes crying all the time. I dont mind if he cries to be honest, but if he's crying as hes killing people it couldve made him cooler, like for example if he was like 'why does everyone insist on trying to stop me, it never works.' maybe wouldve added some depth ANYWAY I think if they let Paul Rudd take a bit more control in his own movie it wouldve been better. Paul Rudd is just a funny guy in general but of course they have to shit on him for saving the universe which really turned me off on the movie. There is a silver lining! My date went great because of how much fun it was to make jokes about the movie which made my date laugh and secured the bag for a second date! By the way, do you think this movie would've been better if they let Paul Rudd take more control? I think the Baskin Robbins Scott was funny lol EDIT: I'm not talking about M.O.D.O.K because I havent read the comics of him and im convinced he was just a big joke for the movie to pull desperate laughs from the audience. While I admit I DID laugh at his first appearance, the joke quickly became old, however the last part where he runs in screaming 'I'm not a dick' is funny, which i dont think the movie was trying to give off? He basically sacrifices himself and they made a huge joke out of his entire existence which is really a shame, i dont think they should be making fun of anyone who helped especially not someone who helped them save the day in exchange for his life.

  • @LostChord

The MODOK problem, besides the dodgy effects, is it yanks the tone all over the place. His first appearance is immediately after the gunning down of innocent cutesy aliens en masse, which we can’t take seriously because he’s there. His death scene jumps from tragedy to comedy every other second. We’ve learned of the fight to save the multiverse, but in case we take that seriously, up he pops for the “don’t be a dick” skit. The effect is really to constrain the film’s emotional range, because you’re never more than a couple of minutes away from MODOK bringing the tone down again.

  • @jotopokemon

@@LostChord but why though, I don't understand the thought process. Even if MODOK looks goofy, it would only be a first time problem if they made him an actually serious character. Is it impossible to make something goofy genuinely terrifying and somber? Like in a 'we tell you how you feel' type of way?

  • @mejuliie

I think Paul Rudd actually wanted M.O.D.O.K. to be this film's antagonist, when they first started working on it. So, it kind of ties into Paul Rudd having more control. Really unfortunate they didn't go with it, as it would have made for a more cohesive movie. Kang the Conqueror kind of needs his own movie, to be able to introduce him and flesh out his character better. Especially, since there are other versions of Kang that play a role. And his existence across the multiverse is still a very unfamiliar concept to the audience. I hope they don't waste Jonathan Majors potential, because he definitely has the skill to make Kang the Conqueror into an absolutely menacing, "pee in your pants" villain :)

  • @jotopokemon

    @jotopokemon

    Жыл бұрын

@@mejuliie Yeah! I mean dude, you can see that it could've gone either way! I really enjoyed Kang threatening Scott with Cassie, however his emotions don't make sense to me. I would've preferred someone who showed no emotion at all, than someone who cried when his engine broke... I mean if youre gonna have a villain who has killed god knows how many people, conquered god knows how many universes, how can he still be emotional. In the comics, the only time (personally) I've seen Kang cry is during the one where he's looping through his life I forgot the name... Basically he goes to his younger self to teach him and cries about a woman but you find out that his younger self is the same him that is teaching him so he's like looping and crying about a woman... wow thats off topic! What im trying to say is, I like when my villains are taken seriously and not a joke. I really want to see Kang become a Thanos like individual where you're nervous when he comes on screen cus you know that hes dangerous but the character doesnt or the heroes are in danger. If he kills a few main heroes then so be it! It would be much better than he never kills anybody with a name but 'omg hes so scawy uwu' yk? Thanos was more logical terror, showing what a being of pure logic and reason could achieve when focused on a single purpose without any emotional views, but what is Kang? I hope they change what he was in the comics which is basically, I conquer because I can. It would be fresh to see a different perspective, something to make us seriously think whether he is right while also scaring us with what our conclusions might be rather than mindlessly watch sludge flow on screen and go 'hurhur funny man make joke' if that makes sense lol sry it was so long i derail off topic most of the time...

To answer your question as per the MCU - regardless of Rick and Morty writers: *Here is how the logistics of Quantum Tunnel time travel work.* With sub atomic Pym particles - > You shrink into the Quantum Realm. That is another Universe which functions as a hub to elsewhere in space and time. With Banner's modified Quantum Tunnel and Tony's space time GPS..... You can control your travel thru this hub, so that you come out in another space/time. Note when you travel backwards in time in Quantum Tunnel time travel you create an alternate timeline. This is a theory in physics called Multiverse Time Travel - this is the theory that Endgame used. In Banner's original experiment - before Tony created the Space/Time GPS, time, would be sent thru the traveler IN THE QUANTUM REALM. That's how Scott came back as a baby and then an old man. *So anyone saying you can't control time in the Quantum Realm has lost the plot - including the Rick and Morty knucklebrains.* They really have no business making these films. They have too little respect for the MCU in the 1st place. I'm sorry but this is another Dan and Dave final season of Game of Thrones situation where they are taking several years worth of storytelling and flushing it down the drain because they simply don't know how to write.

I remember when they first announced there was a third one and saw the trailer thereafter. I rolled my eyes and walked away from the screen knowing this movie would be sewage water. I personally did not like any of the Antman movies, and did not like this version of Antman at all. Never saw the hype behind these movies. At this point they're just cash grabbing drooling normies and pushing agitprop in these movies. That's why they keep making the same "mistake" in every movie. It can't just be incompetence at this point.

He was a handy comic relief character back before every character did that. Never intended to be a significant player, now thrown into unimaginably huge stakes along with everybody else.

@@LostChord that's actually a nice perspective on Ant man. His movies, though not the most original, could be just fun escapist films in a vacuum on their own (even if I don't like Ant man and the wasp). I think since he was indirectly so important in endgame they figured "well, it only makes sense to have him go face to face with the next Thanos!" It's almost like they misinterpreted his roll.

At the end of the movie the council of Kangs want revenge on Scott and co for Kang's death but why? The council exiled/inprisoned Kang in the QR as punishment and now they are mad that the locals he enslaved ended up killing him. This also stopped Kang from enacting his plan to kill the council. Its makes no sense.

Even if Janet told to the family about kang the writer would have just said kang would have try to escape and track janet and open a portal where she was it would not change anything. And scott spliting was a funny scene you compare it to jack sparrow but that scene in Pirate of carabian was not so much funnier and was child humour. Ant man got out of the quantum realm thats how the other kang got to know they killed him or escape him not that they were monitoring the quantum realm

I said this years ago but... MODOK should NEVER be adapted into live action. He's a pretty silly character even for a cartoon and his appearance in this movie is actually even WORSE than I had anticipated. Not only is just the image of a live action MODOK just as horrifying as I had imagined but they also completely changed his origin and characterization from the comics. So first of all, Darren Cross is not even a character who even exists in the comics and he has now taken over the super villain alias of two other Marvel characters. Yellow Jacket is actually suppose to be Hank Pym which given movie Hank Pym isn't likely to turn into a super villain like his comic book counterpart using that mantle for a different character actually makes sense. MODOK however is actually a character named George Tarleton who was born with a deformity giving him that iconic appearance but is also a super genius and the robotic elements were created for him with the help of A.I.M., the science division for Hydra. The fact this MODOK started off as a regular human and just some how became this thing, doesn't have his super intelligence or his connection to AIM, why is MODOK even in this movie? Even if they actually adapted MODOK accurately to how he was in the comics the fact that he's just a giant head with tiny little arms and legs meant that this was always going to translate badly in live action so the one thing they SHOULD have changed for the movie version is the part they got right and the things that didn't need to be changed in the first place they changed for no reason what so ever? If you're going to do a live action MODOK which you really shouldn't, that character should never exist, but if you want to adapt him and change him for live action, give him actual human proportions not this cartoonish giant head thing that would never realistically function as a real human being. His anatomy makes no freaking sense what so ever and it's hard to take him seriously as a legitimate threat when he looks like a Mr. Potato Head. You can keep everything else about his origins the same just give him actual human proportions. As long as MODOK is just a giant head with little baby limbs attached directly to his head cause there's no torso on that thing he's just going to be a complete garbage character who shouldn't exist in the first place. Why does he even have those little robot legs? He can't walk on them cause of how they're placed. Totally useless. What are the point of his arms? I mean he can press buttons on his control chair which he's mentally linked to and thus doesn't actually need arms to do that. The design makes no freaking sense and it makes even less sense that he isn't dead after the events of the first Ant-Man movie. How the F does that lead to this? Nothing should ever lead to MODOK.

The original plan was actually to have M.O.D.O.K. as the antagonist in this movie. It's really unfortunate that they didn't go with it. He can be plenty scary, but they were in too much of a hurry to introduce Kang the Conqueror.
