We love Holly Hunter. We stan Holly Hunter! But it has been nearly 30 years and no one talks about “The Piano” or the awards it accrued. You know who everyone talks about, though? Angela Bassett’s performance as Tina Turner in “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” Both actresses are exemplary thespians, yet if we were to talk about overall impact, Mrs. Bassett’s performance is one of the most revered (and quoted) of all time… and yes, she was robbed.

I mean it was voted the best film directed by a woman recently. I think both performances are great! I wished they had shared the award. I have a hard time choosing between the both of them.

Which means in a true comparison BP2 only made around 500 million which is absolutely horrible. No doubt Angela Bassett deserves an Oscar, but this movie and role being Oscar worthy is a complete joke.

It was odd for the telecast to be on a Tuesday. It used primarily be on Sundays,

I haven't really known anything about Angela Bassett beyond being familiar with her name and the fact that she was an actress, but, after hearing her speech, I am absolutely enthralled by her poise, grace, clarity, and firmness of presence. I want her to both read me bedtime stories and lead me into battle...what a magnificent woman! God bless you, Angela! 🥰💕

Jennifer Hudson's emotion while listening to the amazing Angela Bassett is just lovely!

Angela Bassett truly is the Queen of the most powerful nation in the world. That speech she said in Wakanda Forever was moving and beautiful. I'll be rooting for her when she wins her first Academy Award since she was overlooked as Tina Turner and will be an important moment in film history. Queen Ramonda deserved better and she got the love she deserves.

My neighbor lady Lowanda Mae said to me that her six-year-old daughter wanted to know why the lady in the tacky purple dress was such a sore loser after losing the Oscar. Lowanda Mae told her daughter that if she ever acted that way after losing, she'd give her a whopping and make her memorize ten Bible verses.

She won the Oscar for what's love got to do with it. They just didn't give it to her. So Beautiful, So Classy. A True QUEEN.

Angela Bassett DID NOT win the Oscar for "What's Love Got To Do With It", though she was nominated. The Oscar for Best Actress for 1993 were given out in 1994 and went to Holly Hunter for "The Piano", not Bassett.

Well deserved!!! I also cannot say this enough...Angela is so ridiculously beautiful. Have loved her since I first laid eyes on her on episode of Cosby. Talented, smart and gorgeous.

Not so consistently. There's a lot of sour grapes up in there. I thought she was going to turn green when Jamie Lee won the Oscar over her. What a prideful woman.

@@tarakwannabe675 lol sour grapes, that’s funny. Maybe she does have some, and maybe she was gonna turn green…still, I could use an ounce of what she DISPLAYS, which is the key word. I simply appreciate the way she has carried herself over the years, since the beginning of her career, setting a great example for all women, but especially black ones…and if she was sour about Jamie Lee’s Oscar then we can likewise give her the grace to have a human moment, notwithstanding that she’s a theatrical artist, and sensitive about her sh*t.

She lost the Oscar and acted crazy.

She needs to win every time she's in something! Every time you see Angela on the casting list you know its gonna be a good movie!
