    Back in 1984-85...one of my favorite all time dance hits..was her song: "In The Evening (the real me comes alive)"...and never imagined her 39 years later..winning an Emmy! She still looks fabulous after all these years.👍

    @@Twistedpeppermint99 That's Hannah Waddingham, who was up for the same award as Sheryl. While not having to deal with the racism that Sheryl dealt with, Hannah also was in the theater (regular and musicals), and had parts in tv/movies and is finally getting the wide-spread attention she so richly deserves. She also seems like a truly good person and just cheers like heck for her fellow actors when they win! Her genuine joy for Sheryl was so fantastic.

    All 3 Original Dreamgirls are officially award winners. Jennifer Holliday won the Tony and a Grammy in 1982, Loretta Devine won an Emmy in 2011, and Sheryl won an Emmy in 2022. Also, all 3 movie Dreamgirls are award winners: Jennifer Hudson is an EGOT, Beyoncé has a record 27 Grammys, and Anika Noni Rose won a Tony in 2004.

    Those few seconds she takes before she starts singing to soak in the moment up on stage, just beaming and holding the award she never expected to win, ugh it's so good it gets me every time. She had the whole audience in the palm of her hand before she even opened her mouth and it's just amazing to watch her command a room. So well deserved.

    I listened to her Time to Walk on Apple Fitness+. She spoke about this moment in great detail. As she got up on stage, she spoke of hearing her father telling her to get herself together, so she did. She burst in song, as she deserved. And as she went into her speech, she said she saw a monitor overhead flashing the words: “stop now.” And what went through her mind was, “you’ve been telling me to ‘stop now’ for years. I’m not gonna stop now.” Auntie Sheryl. You deserved this moment.

    Sheryl Lee Ralph's parents were good friends with my grandmother. If she was still alive today, she would be extremely proud. We had Christmas dinner at her house one year, I think in 1997, when she was in Jamaica with her parents. My cousins were so shocked when she greeted my grandmother with a big hug and kiss on the cheek. "You know Moesha's mom?" It was hilarious.

    This is one of the best moments in the Emmys. Sheryl Lee was so stunned and so shocked and then when she collected herself. She bought down the house. I had tears streaming down my face. She had that look of "OMG did i just win," She is 65 or 66 and still very stunning to look at. Sheryl Lee owned that night.

    I'm glad the television academy saw how well she transformed into that character. She really created a well thought out characterization. Her character wasn't the flashiest but her character had so many layers and facets that is incredible work for an actress

    This is what being unproblematic and kind to people looks like. Closer to 70 than 60 and still running laps around people half her age in terms of looks, poise and stamina. So we’ll deserved. SLR is an ICON.

    So long overdue! Sheryl Lee Ralph's talent is simply undeniable. Whether it's playing Dena in the original Broadway cast of "Dreamgirls" or playing opposite Denzel Washington in "The Mighty Quinn", her range and depth of her body of work is awesome! And sang her acceptance speech in perfect pitch. You go, diva!

    I'm just seeing this, and I was completely in tears. She had no idea she was going to win. Sure, she was nominated but has been overlooked so many times. I didn't even know she played Dina in Dream Girls. And OH MY GOSH, how she burst in song. I never heard an acceptance speech that touching. I hope we all feel that feeling of being boticed and appreciated 👏

    the way this cast supports each other is so wonderful! as everyone else has said this is so well deserved! she isn't some newcomer, she has been an icon for many for a while now, including myself, and I think thats part of why she was so shocked but it was. along time coming. im glad they gave her the time she needed to give her full praises!

    Ive seen this woman all my life. As a young black woman, this made me cry. Dreams are possible and when things get hard I will believe in myself, especially with my community around. I may be an endangered species but I am nobody’s victim.

    She is so awesome!! I am a retired teacher and she portrays some of us PERFECTLY!! I actually do some soul searching after I watch this show and ask myself was I more like Sheryl or Quinta. I see Sheryl some weeks and Quinta others. I am so happy for her. Followed her career for years.
