Back in 1984-85...one of my favorite all time dance hits..was her song: "In The Evening (the real me comes alive)"...and never imagined her 39 years later..winning an Emmy! She still looks fabulous after all these years.👍

I feel like my mom won. she's been in our lives for so long and she deserves all the joy she's been getting since abbott came out

While not having to deal with the racism that Sheryl dealt with, Hannah also was in the theater (regular and musicals), and had parts in tv/movies and is finally getting the wide-spread attention she so richly deserves. She also seems like a truly good person and just cheers like heck for her fellow actors when they win! Her genuine joy for Sheryl was so fantastic.

I am in tears. And not just because of her beautiful, epic response to her win, but because of all of the support she had in that room. I love it.

All 3 Original Dreamgirls are officially award winners. Jennifer Holliday won the Tony and a Grammy in 1982, Loretta Devine won an Emmy in 2011, and Sheryl won an Emmy in 2022. Also, all 3 movie Dreamgirls are award winners: Jennifer Hudson is an EGOT, Beyoncé has a record 27 Grammys, and Anika Noni Rose won a Tony in 2004.

I had to cry on that one. This has been the best winning moment in a long time. To see Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tony winner, receive her flowers after all these years. It is truly a blessing. I have been waiting for this one. She gave the best speech. I love it.

That was without a doubt one of the greatest moments in Emmy history. BIG CONGRATS SHERYL LEE RALPH!!!

Those few seconds she takes before she starts singing to soak in the moment up on stage, just beaming and holding the award she never expected to win, ugh it's so good it gets me every time. She had the whole audience in the palm of her hand before she even opened her mouth and it's just amazing to watch her command a room. So well deserved.

I listened to her Time to Walk on Apple Fitness+. She spoke about this moment in great detail. As she got up on stage, she spoke of hearing her father telling her to get herself together, so she did. She burst in song, as she deserved. And as she went into her speech, she said she saw a monitor overhead flashing the words: “stop now.” And what went through her mind was, “you’ve been telling me to ‘stop now’ for years. I’m not gonna stop now.” Auntie Sheryl. You deserved this moment.

From her genuinely shocked reaction to her singing to her truly inspiring speech, this is the reason why I keep watching awards shows! I love this! Congrats, Sheryl.

YESSS!!!! So well deserved!!! Wish I'd seen it live, but so grateful I could view it on KZread. I've been an admirer of Ms. Sheryl Lee Ralph from her Dream Girls years. She is an artist, indeed, who takes her craft very seriously. She ALWAYS represents the culture in a dignified manner. She gives Abbott Elementary that extra "sparkle" that only a seasoned veteran can give. Congratulations, Ms. Ralph!!!

Wow that was one of the most moving award speeches I have ever seen. The conviction and command she held despite the overwhelming emotions she must have felt. I cried really. It was a beautiful witnessing of a human singing and praising this moment with all their might and heart.

I love how Hannah is standing for 90% of this. Everyone is so hyped for Sheryl!!!!!

As a new teacher, she hits me like that, even out of character. She is a blessed inspiration, and her decades of hard work mean so much to me. Congratulations. Infinitely deserved.

Sheryl Lee Ralph's parents were good friends with my grandmother. If she was still alive today, she would be extremely proud. We had Christmas dinner at her house one year, I think in 1997, when she was in Jamaica with her parents. My cousins were so shocked when she greeted my grandmother with a big hug and kiss on the cheek. "You know Moesha's mom?" It was hilarious.

The crazy part about this is that she was just happy to finally be nominated after such a long and accomplished career. You can tell from her reaction she wasn’t expecting to win 😢 I grew watching Sheryl Lee Ralph and I teared up watching this moment because nobody deserves it more ❤💐👑

This is one of the best moments in the Emmys. Sheryl Lee was so stunned and so shocked and then when she collected herself. She bought down the house. I had tears streaming down my face. She had that look of "OMG did i just win," She is 65 or 66 and still very stunning to look at. Sheryl Lee owned that night.

She is SO deserving of this honor!! She is a true class act, talented, regal and a legend in her own right! I also love that Quinta Brunson’s show is getting the recognition that it deserves! This is fabulous. Black Excellence at its best!❤️❤️❤️

I'm 44 and it's the same for me. I couldn't believe she had never won an Emmy before. With all the incredible roles she's played over the years, that's absolutely ridiculous.

I've been watching this lady in TV & movies my entire life and she's finally getting recognized for her talents. As a side note: I saw her in real life and she is stunningly beautiful. Go Sheryl Lee Ralph!🌸

My first memory of Sheryl Lee Ralph was from the 80’s tv show “It’s a Living”. I’m so happy for her!! 👏🏽👏🏽. Congrats madam!

Yes! Mine as well. It was a great 80’s show. I told my daughter I used to watch her as a little girl growing up. She was the only woman of color and was PHENOMENAL; with those iconic dimples. Lol.

Well deserved... I still remember her from Sister Act 2, a small yet impactful role she played as Rita's (Lauren Hill) mother. Finally receiving the recognition she deserves!!

Instant tears when she started singing! Watched her speech 5 times now and still tearing up. Bravo!

I'm just seeing this, and I was completely in tears. She had no idea she was going to win. Sure, she was nominated but has been overlooked so many times. I didn't even know she played Dina in Dream Girls. And OH MY GOSH, how she burst in song. I never heard an acceptance speech that touching. I hope we all feel that feeling of being boticed and appreciated 👏

Congratulations Ms Ralph! Well deserved. You were invited to the Emmys for the first time. I once heard you say you never got an invite Well tonight you were not only invited, You won.

Ive seen this woman all my life. As a young black woman, this made me cry. Dreams are possible and when things get hard I will believe in myself, especially with my community around. I may be an endangered species but I am nobody’s victim.

She is so awesome!! I am a retired teacher and she portrays some of us PERFECTLY!! I actually do some soul searching after I watch this show and ask myself was I more like Sheryl or Quinta. I see Sheryl some weeks and Quinta others. I am so happy for her. Followed her career for years.

I was moved!! After so many roles… she deserved this decades ago!
