So vader's lightsaber swings are similar in direction to anakin's but vader does not use over the head or over the shoulder stances due to his shoulder armor. Thats some nice detail.

I like details like that. Anakin is agile, fast and full of energy. He swings his saber all over the place because he can. Vader is the opposite. Lacking the traits of the past self, he has to compensate it. Every move is efficient, short and strong. Preserving energy is a must.

@Matches_Malone Tbh the Jedi order is full of hypocrisy and stupidity. Anakin was a thousand times more powerful when he was actually acknowledging his emotions. If it’s a matter of full potential dark side versus full potential light, dark will win. The Jedi just didn’t do a good job at all in the way they ran their system. Anakin was a slave until he died, and I fully believe a dark side full potential would be completely free from any restraint, and could easily overwhelm any opponent. We already saw a taste of that in the clone wars when Anakin was defending someone he loved, namely Ashoka, Obi-Wan, or Padme. When he used his emotions, the raw power in his Force was unparalleled. He brought the living Force to its knees with ease when he just opened up to it.

I know I'm repeating much of what is already said but I love the similarities between Vader and Anakin here with the style of combat with Vader's being more controlled and purposeful than Anakin's flashy style. I can imagine if someone saw Anakin with his unique style then years later seeing Darth Vader fighting and you can't help but feel the ghost of Anakin Skywalker within the cold shell of Darth Vader.

I really like how there are some subtle differences in their styles that illustrate the type of fighter and person they were at that point in their lives. You can see that Anakin’s movements, stances, defensive positions, and attack’s all represent a more “wild” and unfocused version of Darth Vader. Anakin’s movements almost burst with life, as well as boisterous inexperience within his current level of mastery. While Darth’s movements reflect a more mature and methodical figure. His movements are purposeful but just as effective. He seems far more efficient, having neglected any superfluous movements, even in his stride and sprint. I’m not necessarily a fan of the game (or what they tried to do to it), but I do appreciate the level of thought and detail in the animations. I think they effectively show the the differences between the same character at two different points in their lives.

It’s not necessarily about the mastery of using a lightsaber between these two. Vader has the injuries from Obi Wan, so in the suit, it is extremely painful for him to raise his arms above his head, or perform any “wild” movements. Not only that, but the suit blocks a lot of his movements, which explains why Vader runs slower, and blocks with his arms lower whereas Anakin is more agile and blocks with his arms raised up.

If Anakin wasn't arrogant he would have beat Obiwan back em in Mustafar! But he was mind broken. Kill off younglings, shock force his wife n fight the closest thing to a "father figure" he couldn't give his best. And Obiwan took advantage of it.

I think it’s cool how their lightsaber animations are almost the same for the first few swings before going into two very different paths

Gotta love the similarities there. Really cool attention to detail.

When you think about it, Luke and Anakin have extremely similar abilities. Anakin has a force pull and Luke has a force push which are still pretty similar. Luke has his repulse and Anakin has heroic might, which are a 360° force push. Luke has his dash strike and Anakin has his passionate strike which are both variants of a lightsaber strike. Like father, like son I suppose.

Those attack animations though, god damn

I like how Anakin uses more higher body attacks where as Vader uses more mid body range attacks showing the limitations of his suit and that he couldnt really use high attacks anymore. Those little details are really cool.

People who haven’t seen Star Wars : its like there the same person

I love the differences in the blocking mechanics between the both. Anakin is more defensive and calculated with his lightsaber going over and across while Vader holds his in front of him in a sort of dominating stance. He knows he’s more than experienced enough in a fight and holding it out front shows intimidation.

Vader is much slower in a lot of his movement which makes him way more terrifying... because he has no reason to run.

Really cool to see Vader’s and Anakins fighting style being so similar, in legends Vader adapted his form 5 with the teachings of Darth Malgus in order to fit his new body better. They couldn’t have made it more accurate, very happy with Dice

I really love what they did with both of them,they have the exact same moves (like in normal splashing) but Anakin seems more fast and arrogant, doing more flashy tricks,same with his dash,he puts his saber to the side because he's fast enough to block whatever he wants anyway,also he seems to like it up close and personal and is always angry and that's why his attacks are close range and his push is all over the place,Vader is more slow and ready as seen in his dash and moves,he is more careful almost like a true master,he has some long range attacks to show that he wants to beat them from far away or at least damage them just so they can't beat his obviously terrible suit,that's why I love Vader,he's so badass and cool but so calm and almost like a Jedi master if anything, always calm,and ready

Don't know why so many people commented that 'Anakin's style is wild and unfocused'. Look at the saber section - those are all solid strikes with excellent footwork, classic moves of longsword/kendo styles. It's not overextended or sloppily executed, nor is it 'wild' by any measure. Ability 1 is a step-through strike that in-universe is a staple opening move of Form V lightsaber combat. Just because Anakin has wider movements than Vader doesn't mean it's necessarily more boisterous or wild. Anakin mainly fights 2-handed, and Vader fights 1-handed with occasional 2H defensive moves or key strikes. There's a difference in style, but Anakin's base strikes are still indicative of solid classical training.

Vader's moves cover a wider area imo. Anakin has quite a few moves which point forwards in front of his body or don't extend too far out.

I really enjoy how their lightsaber attacks are very similar, with Vader's having less pizzazz and twirls to them. The cybernetics and armor really nerfed his dexterity, but he made up for it by honing his more simple movements to a razor's edge and perfected his new style.

I love how Vaters strikes or more simple I think this is due to the fact that they’re trying to represent how he’s more older in the hall the suit affects his movement. Also it shows how waiter is no longer the Susie Astec light saber duel list after fighting over you want so now each of his strikes or surgical and her calculator compared to Anakin who’s all willy-nilly

Amazing video!!

Anakin was really powerful before he turned into Vader, he was speedy with his lightsaber and movements, he hits hard and he’s agile Vader on the other hand, his strikes are powerful but slow, his speed decreased after the fight with Obi Wan cause he burned up and lost a limb and he’s not as agile as he was as Anakin. Vader’s weakness is his attack speed and agility but his armor gives him more durability. Anakin’s weakness is he’s vulnerable to temptation and also his temper isn’t really the best, and all this made him into a Sith Lord.

Anakin also has a idle animation where he jumps a little bit

Vader user appears: Panik Vader user ignites his lightsaber when he sees me: PANIK Vader begins walking, deflecting every blaster fire: *P A N I K*

Man I remember when this was uploaded got me pumped

Honestly, I always thought the reason Vader was so strong was because he fixed Anakin's "flaw". Anakin fights like a madman and gets too excited and trigger happy. Vader cannot move fast nor fight as quickly. He has to make every strike count.

How? How is a dude who is burned up and destroyed lungs with all of his limbs gone and vastly slower from having metal weigh down on him stronger than before? It's been established that the force responds to living flesh, not inanimate objects.

@MALEK001 001 I hope to god you mean post vader in ROTS, not the one in the suit because if you are than you're delusional. pre suit vader beats suit vader any day of the week. Don't know what the hell you even mean by "fllaws" because in terms of pure combat anakin doesn't have any. it doesn't matter if he has "a lot more experience," so what? so did most of the much older jedi did in the jedi temple yet anakin killed hundreds of them personally. obiwan had more experienced than anakin yet he was getting over powered throughout their entire fight and only lost due to the highground situation where anakin screwed up and that's it.

@MALEK001 001 You're describing pre-suit Vader, not Anakin. Anakin in RotS and TCW didn't let his confidence get the better of him.

I don't know if anyone noticed, and the comparison showcase it, but that idle animation anakin did, is a animation Vader does, but slower and clunkier like he's practicing. They did a great job at shadowing vader, even the jump.

I really appreciate the use of parts of vader to complete anakin as it shows his dark path but hes still very much in the light

I like how this shows the similarities between Anakin and Vader, I feel like Anakin was lile Revan his mind split, so he had 2 sides of him the dark and light but he let the dark consune the like, but the light was still in there I never see them as seperate just 2 halves, but it's cool to see the same stuff like his lightsaber attacks almost didn't change, his jump (which doesn't seem like much but eh still worth noting)

I love how Vader is much more controlled and precise in his motions and attacks. Whether that be to compensate for his past injuries and the weight of his gear or not, it's a cool detail that really separates him from his past self.

1:38 every time I hear this song, i always hear “it’s over Anakin, I have the high ground” at that part.

I can't lie the attention to detail is pretty damn awesome epically with his swings. Honeslty to any person who maybe watching this video wandering if Battlefront 2 is worth getting or redownloading hell to the yes its worth it.

@@martyvenkman860 The game is using voices from the Clone Wars. Simply put you shouldn't expect anyone from the movie actors to make the lines for them.

I love how similar but different they are

I like that they gave Anakin a better blocking stance. Wish more characters had that. The "holding lightsaber vertically in front of you" stance that Vader has is shared by too many characters and while it looks passable while blocking blaster bolts, it looks completely silly in lightsaber combat. Anakin's looks much more fitting.

Anakin: _I WILL NEVER GIVE IN TO YOU, EVER!!!_ Vader: *Are you sure about that?*

Vader does the same lightsaber flourish when idle

New canon has retconned that. Vader moves just fine and Palpatine did not purposely weaken him. He spared no expense when he was rebuilding Vader because he wanted him to be as powerful as possible.

@@thewarner2139 I thought Palpatine weakened Vader and made his suit vulnerable to lightning just so that Vader wouldn't turn on him. Cause the Sith often turn on each other

@@ajaderabbit8399 Only in Legends, but Vader took steps to improve his resistance to lightning. In canon, Palpatine wanted Vader to be stronger so he helped him as much as he could and used state-of-the-art technology when rebuilding him. Vader's weakness to lightning is also greatly exaggerated, since Palps shocks him right after he gets off the table and it barely fazes him.

There attacks are very similar Vader just keeps his saber close to his chest to protect himself so he moves allot less stylishly and he moves slower

Not slower just more precise. I don't think anyone that's dueled Vader would call him slow. He's every bit as fast as Anakin where it matters.

I like how their lightsaber attacks are similar, but anakin's is quite faster which makes sense

I love that Vader's attacks match how Anakin use to fight. Only now he's unable to raise his hands above his head. Even as formidable as he is you can literally see the aftereffects of his duel with Obi-wan.

I love it how the music is really intense and dramatic while on the screen it says: *Anakin* *Vader* *Walk* *Walk*

This is pretty cool I love seeing the good side and bad side of a character and person/human being in general it shows that we all are human and have good and bad in us which both sides make us human beings we wouldn’t be human beings otherwise

How long is it until someone mods anakin to the dark side so we have obi wan v anakin?

Done. A public mod may take longer, though, I don't plan to release this (there's a whole Discord server full of equally/more capable modders anyway).
