Got my 1925 Dansant a couple of days ago. I am surprised at the comfortable blow (and great intonation, as far as I can tell), given everything I've read! Also the craftsmanship on this horn is amazing, right down to the beautiful engraving work. Also didn't realize the horn was gold plated! All around an excellent buy.

Quick question for you about the main tuning slide setup… is it a forward adjustable tuning slide where the finger loop is attached and then an aft quick change slide to go from Bb to A or is the only moveable portion the aft section with the threaded barrel lock nut for the quick change feature?

Absolutely beautiful trumpet, i found the tone is much more beautiful than the committees models, 3:18 there is the true smokey tone.

How do these mid-20s Dansants play, compared to the Handcraft Imperials and Committees? Not much information on the web about this type of thing...

Hi Tim, I find in general they blow a little tighter. Most have a smaller bell and the dual key leadpipe setup (between A - Bb). If you are after that Martin sound I'd stick to the Handcraft Imperials, The Committee or the somewhat scare dual reversed lead pipe Imperial.

@@thebrasscellar Thanks for the reply - I have a 1925 Dansant on its way to me, and I hope I can find a way to make it blow the way I like. I heard that the Martin horns all benefit from short-shank mouthpieces - what has been your experience?

@@timclarke9553 If you are talking pre 1930s then yes thta applies. For 30s onwards I find longer shanks are better. Like most things it pays to try a few different options.

Hi, these were professional level horns made in various levels of finish. This example would have been a custom order.
