In Finland there are 3 providers of ambulance services. The welfare districts, the fire departments and private contractors. So the fire stations also have ambulances. That is also why there are so many different colored ambulances. The operator is free to choose the livery but it needs to be visible and recognisable as an ambulance. The one you said looks like a taxi was a EMS field command unit. It has a mobile command center at the back instead of stretchers and it can take an on-call doctor or a midwife to the scene when needed.

They do not use sirens during the night if the traffic is light to let people sleep. 😊

Police cars also have a red light but it’s only used to signal they want you to pull over

there are several different colored ambulances in Finland. some of the different colors are private company ambulances. 12:50 private company ambulance. 12:34 hospital transport ambulance. car numbers are only used on the radio. 15:32 not policecar! it's the fire chief car! greetings from Finland. Stay safe 😍

It was a fire truck. The small one is a first responder unit. 2 firefighters and only the most important equipment for many different situations, but it usually is at the scene faster than the big trucks.

Most of the ambulances were filmed 50m from the hospital, so they were slowing down to turn into the hospital ramp-road It is much safer if the traffic continues as normally as possible, but just making sure there is enough room for the emergency vehicles to pass by. If you stop, start doing strange maneuvers you can cause pileups and new accidents Also the emergency vehicles use the sirens and speeding *only* when it is needed, if the patient/emergency is not absolutely time critical, using sirens and speeding might cause more problems/accidents to the people around them and to the patient in the car

In Europe when it's dark, they only have the lights on. You can see the light from further away, and if it's close behind your whole car interior lights up in blue, so the sound is not needed at night. No need to make noise and wake people up sleeping, if the lights will do haha.

So the numbers on the cars are different depending what type of vehicle it is. On the police cars in the Helsinki area first number like for example 1 or 3 are different areas (South, east etc.) And rest is just for separating different units. Also cars like 100, 200 or 300 have a leading officer of the area they are patrolling in. On the ambulance the first number is area (Helsinki is 1) second number is what type of unit (0 doctor, 1 areas leader, 2 a unit with a little more medications, 3 a normal unit) the third number is the station they are coming from (10 Kallio, 20 Erottaja) and the last number again is for separating. On the fire trucks the first two numbers are the station (10 Kallio, 20 Erottaja, 30 Haaga 40 Kallio etc.) and the last number is what type of unit it is (1 Fire/Rescue unit 2, Combined Fire/Tanker 3, Tanker, 4 Idk, 5 Heavy recue, 6 Ladder, 7 Transport, 8 Boat, 9 Special like chemical) Also the unit what you thought was an ambulance was a light rescue unit (15) so the unit was a light rescue unit from the station of Munkkivuori (i might be wrong with the station) in Helsinki.

The ambulances all have the cross in the back windows, a red or orange cross. The other one you saw was a fire truck, but like a rescue truck, not a hose truck, if you know what I mean. They kept having shots from the same places because they were near two of the busiest emergency rooms in Helsinki.

For a siren seeker, there are also the civil defense sirens, which are tested every first working day Monday of the month at 12 o'clock across the country..

Emergency vehicles are all about visibility. Lights on side mirrors/front lights are more visible to people driving cars ahead. A light on top? Not so much unless you're driving a truck. You don't always get the luxury of having no traffic when on call. Also, the siren sounds differ a bit to help people tell them apart. Still, a police car in full throttle is easy to recognize, since it's pretty shrill sound that moves past very, very fast.

In Finland/Sweden Emergency Vehicles don’t use their sirens during the night unless they have to, so they don’t disturb sleeping people

I try to answer your question as best as i can. In Finland the numbers in fire services and health care, have a meaning. The first number in ambulance is area code. The second one is level code. In level code, there are four options. 1. Meaning supervisor 2. Meaning care-level unit 3. Meaning basic-level unit 0. Meaning doctor unit You can read more of this from the ministry of the interior. Or wikipedia. Hope this helps :)

Finnish police needs vans to fit all the drunks in at weekends. 😅 We call those vans by the name 'Maija', which is also a girl's name here. And that is actually a short version of 'Mustamaija', what would translate as 'Black Maija' (or maybe 'Black Mary') and that is also a name of a card game.

Apparently in Finland they have the best siren. It is tested and we can not locate a regulair alarm signal. So it should be doubled with a locatable signal as they have.

9:36 you asked does the numbers have specific job, the first two numbers tells you the which station the car belongs to and the last numbers tells you what type of vehicle it is

this hold true for fire apparatus, for ambulances the first number is district, the second number is care level and the last one or two is the station/order number

The numbers are unit numbers. There's usually a 2 letter (?) thing in front of the numbers which is more of an area code type thing. Also there's quite a lot of different ambulance designs in Finland, but the fire trucks (or engines...) and police cars are mostly the same.

I could explain all this but it would get so long and boring..all the different sound, flashing lights, colour patterns, private contractos on ambulance side, all the different vehichles from fire department for different jobs, first resbonse unit for fatal resbonses with that regular car that has medicines and eguipment with it and doctor or then it coul just be fieldleadet that gets to the target fast as possible to check it out if other units are needed thats on the way too or can they turn back or can they be pulled to other target ,why they only use light not sound...
