The worst and unimaginable kind of evil. He held that person hostage, abused, and raped them. Then he had the audacity to ask the mother of his victims how she was holding up, while she had no idea that he was the evil holding her daughter. That is a different kind of evil.

My mom is the type that tries to think the best of people but she's always had the strong "mothers instinct" to spot a predator. When I was about 12 or 13, my close friend's grandfather would drive pass me when I was walking or riding my bike he stop to talk to me. As a young naive kid, I thought he was just being nice because I was friends with his granddaughter. I would tell my mom about it & that's when she had uneasy feeling. She observed but didn't say anything until one step too far. That step was personally inviting me to his house to hang out with his grandkids with my asking my parents. That's when my mom went into "momma bear" mode & put a stop to it real quick & had one of my uncles confront him instead of my dad or overprotective big brother because she knew their temper. After my uncle confronted him, the man never spoke to me again. Even though she hoped her intuition she not taking any chances & sure enough it paid off. A couple of years later that man was arrested & later convicted for child rape. While others seemed to be shocked, my mom said "My mother's intuition was right" after that I always trusted her intuition. I'm NOT saying anything bad about Gina's mom to make it clear because it's NOT her fault at all. If my family was situation like that & my mom was face to face with someone like Ariel Castro, her mothers instinct would know that somethings not right & investigate further

I wish he would have suffered in prison. He would have definitely been the number 1 target among inmates bc he was already so popular being all over the news and I’m sure the inmates got to watch it since there isn’t much for them to do already. "Defence" strategy is useful to the prosecution because it emphasizes the "strength" of the prosecutions case, points raised by the defence are eliminated by the prosecution thereby lessening the "stability" of the defence strategy and decreasing the efficacy of the intention to thwart the prosecution. Sometimes the defence can work in tandem with the prosecution to bring a particularly heinous crime to a conclusion favourable to incarceration, I'm sure this "co-operation" isn't completely intentional but there are varying degrees of "defending" someone, no defence lawyer is going to stake their career on a child killer, but everyone is entitled to a fair trial, and no trial would be "fair" in a society without representation of the defendant.

kay taylor They were too scared to. Supposing they all did gang up on him & beat him up, he's a lot stronger & the girls were all malnourished so that would of meant they were too weak to even fight back eventually

I agree. We wouldn't even have to spend the money to put him to death. Just put him in general population in prison....the inmates will determine his punishment...and I'm sure it will be just, and more fitting for a monster like this. Why should he go peacefully and painlessly with lethal injection.

He kept them on chains for years, he would play mind games with them all the time and pretend to like he forgot to lock the chains and leave, catch them trying to escape, and beat them, for years. Eventually, ypu kind of give up. He eventually beat them so much, he had a mental chain on them to where they always thought he was watching, even if he really wasnt at home. So he kept them off chains once the little girl was born, he forgot to lock amandas room and the little girl went to look for him, she couldnt find him, amanda kept telling her to look around cause she really thought he was messing with her. Eventually she convinced amanda that ariel wasnt home and thats when amanda did what she had to di

Cathee David If you watch the film The Cleveland Abduction, one of the neighbours reported Ariel's house as she heard screaming. When the police came & heard no noise, just music, the policeman just dismissed her & made the neighbour feel like she was just wasting his time

What part didnt seem normal? The fact that loud music played all the time by someone who was in a band or the windows being boarded up in a ghetto neighborhood? Everyone in Cleveland who knew him really seen him as a nice, outgoing, social, and fun person. Even his neighbors. He played music for them, gave them food and went to barbecues in the neighborhood. Nothing he did was off, except for not letting anyone in the house. If my family memeber only let me in the house like 2% of the time, id be weirded out.

She was not Castro's "favourite" and the media is following suit, maybe they think it's best not to mention her at all rather than report Castro's bias and be seen as complicit by mentioning it...... Or, because she's short and not as "photogenic", not as "attractive" in a ratings sense....

If he would've at least made it to 2043 locked up, he would've served out perfect justice (11 years for kidnapping Michelle Knight, 10 years for kidnapping Amanda Berry, and another 9 years for kidnapping Gina DeJesus). The judge should've gave him a parole date in 2043 because by that year, he would've served out everything that he dished out.
