Just finished this entire series both 1st & 2nd season. What's the next best series on Netflix?
Altered Carbon is my favorite Netflix series, right next to Daredevil. It’s a beautiful crafted cyberpunk, sci fi series and I highly recommend you check it out if you haven’t already
When I first heard about this show, I thought is was a movie. I stated watching it and ended up watching the whole series in one weekend

That actor, while not necessarily the most skilled, embodies everything I love in a protagonist.
Poe has been my favorite character from the show, I thought it was amazing, I also love how Altered Carbon showed that love is utmost regardless of what sleeve was used
This seriously reminded me of elements from First Wave, Eve Online and BSG. Given the costs of a organ transplant a years salary for a new body/resurrection actually sounds incredibly reasonable, especially when one considers a “sleeve” is an entire body and not a single organ, so even if you take inflation into account still a reasonable price. (Note: just a transplant patient putting his two cents in on the story content, always enjoy these videos Film Comics!)

I watched the show also, but i was under the impression it could take a lifetime to buy a new sleeve, better the sleeve the more it will cost ya. I'f any of them could be bought for 1 years salary it would prolly be like that little girl at the start who got the old ladys sleeve.

IndividualGhost that’s kinda how it works with Transplant organs, I don’t know who my organ came from, I don’t know what race, gender, age (although this one is a little bit more tightly controlled as I understand it, and that’s for practical purposes, you can’t put a 30-year-old kidney into a seven-year-old receiver and vice versa), etc (although that information is kept somewhere, but neither I nor the donors family can access it), the deciding factors is does the donor match the recipient tissue wise ang how close is the match (this is why extremely close family members are able to selflessly donate an organ like a kidney or part of the liver and the receiver may not need to go on immunosuppressants). I have to admit, considering that we have these safeguards now, I’m a little Irked that they’re thrown out for sake of the story but that’s due to my perspective. Given the rather large list of mental issues that occur from improper sleeving, I’m a bit surprised that there aren’t actually safeguards to assure at least proper gender and age. Given how common place this is supposed to be as part of the human condition, you would think that these basic requirements would be met, especially considering there doesn’t seem to be a expiration date that has to be met in terms of moving from one sleeve to the next, the idea that you get whatever is in storage falls apart (at the very least, you have time to wait until the proper age, gender and ethnicity becomes available). I think ghost in the shell probably hit it more accurately in terms of what the attitude would be, that you would have those and the full spectrum ranging from those who just had their brain cyberized, those Who went full body prosthetic, those who insisted that the external appearance matched their original body and those who didn’t give a shit (texan in a box).

I agree, Ghost in the shell hit the nail on the head. this although being a fun story and show. it overlooked alot of things and just plain ignored alot of others.

NEED to see it again - so cool. Thanks for sharing
I really like this series, i think it's a really interesting take on human life and technology. But there are also many themes portrayed in it. Like how loyalty works, I mean Kovacs had to choose and his people around him too, like the robot that runs the hotel. He was so extremely loyal despite multiple times that we think he will betray Kovacs.

Ah yes, an AI, apologies. But yes, Poe is an amazing character. I think he's more interesting than that black guy whose daughter is mentally broken.

In the books, Poe's Shot gun is a very illegal and rare laser shot gun. The tv series did not get into the details of the 3 kinds of guns. Charged guns, basically regular guns with mini computers, energy power supply to shoot bullets in a vacuum, and the ability to only shoot when the real owner pulls the trigger. Magnetic/ rail guns, a lot more expensive guns that can reuse amno or use most materials in the world as amno. Laser guns, which everyone has until people started to get Stacks. The only type of gun that can destroy the body and stacks at the same time. In the books Poe's shot gun is one of the 5 laser guns left. Kovacs get the gun at the end of the first book. The biggest issue with the gun is that it has unlimited amno, ironically doesn't overheat, passes through most material detecters, has no user interface, is extremely hard to destroy, and believed to be destroyed. If there is a season 2 in the future, that shot gun needs to be there because it has many different importances in the 5 books.
It's cool to see you explore this - thanks for another awesome video Niyat!

I love the novel, it's a fresh idea on how to tackle the topic of immortality and its consequences. Really excited about the show, I saw it with my wife and it was great but the only problem we had with the show is that Officer Kristin Ortega, for some reason my wife and I are not really fond of her in every scene she is (minus the nude scene in my part 😉). It feels so over the top performance.
I was thinking this morning about how you should cover this great series, and here a video is! :O
This is one of the few Book adaptations that turned out absolutely amazing!!! I just finished the book and while there were big changes in the Tv series. it can stand on its own and deserves a viewing! I personally LOVED the virtual torture scene in episode 4 with Joel Kinnaman and Tahmoh Penikett. both played their roles beautifully. Joel Kinnaman delivery of his line "Someone you Truly, Should not have FUCKED WITH." And then walking the two techs through, how colossally they had Fucked up allowing him to be tortured in this way. Was absolutely EPIC, proceeding the torture clinic massacre!
I was hoping you’d cover this series! With you around, I can devote more of my limited “brain power” to other tasks. Cheers and great vid!

Loved this series! Poe was awesome, and just as gothic as his namesake. The show's dark tone, bleak cyberpunk dystopia, and bladerunner-esq art direction was gorgeous. I hope to see more Altered Carbon in the future
Altered Carbon was a really good show. I was impressed for it being just a Netflix show.

Imagine waking up realizing you are the past version of future you that's still alive. Imagine meeting a decades younger version of you. That said we loose consciousness every time we go into a deep sleep. Or are under anesthetics or in a coma. We are just machines. How do you know you are the same person that went to sleep the night before?
Altered Carbon has that very Shadowrun Returns feel to you, that cyberpunk feeling, it also has a smiliar premise. Friend got fragged and he wants to know who and why, and he sends you a black box of sorts to feel you in on his last will. The asethic of the location is brilliantly well thought out. Has a hella good plot too. Can't wait for more. Great video.
Your explanations are on point an flawless
This has been the best series I've seen this year by far !
Great video as always
Great show Happy to see you covering it
Yes! This show was outstanding glad many people requested this.
Good to finally see an explanation to this show.
Season 1 was amazing, season 2 was a slight step-down, but also kept me wanting to know more. I wish there'd be another season.
I absolutely L O V E D altered carbon, thank you for taking a dive into this series!
Yes! Yes! Yes! One of my favorite serious of all time!
I wouldn't have even thought of asking for this... But so glad someone did😁
The first season was so good, the second one honestly not so much. The main character and his drug backpack had great acting and great story!
I think this show was awesome! They did such a great job with the materials they were given and they cast perfectly.
This was my favourite television series of recent years! It kinda topped GoT's for me it was that good! I was a fan of the hotel AI, he was great! I hope the series returns. Great post, I enjoyed listening to your thoughts!
Looks interesting thanks for showing me something new dude this show seems like the future.

This is a interesting show of sci-fi alright im gonna check on Netflix tomorrow, thanks for the video filmcomic😎👍
Yes!! A must watch.
This show is definitely in my top 3 next to Battlestar Galactica & The Expanse. Looking forward to more videos about Altered Carbon series :)
It's a good series, I enjoyed it even though the ending wasn't really that nice.
Though this show is one that you gotta watch from the beginning, if someone jumps in part way through they will be very confused.

I've really been enjoying your videos. Thank you for putting in so much effort. Have you ever considered covering the sensates from the Netflix series Sense8? It's tied with The Matrix as my favorite Wachowski series.
Season one cannot be touched in my opinion. So great
This show was awesome I wish there were more

Yes, I could only tolerate about 10 mins of the 2nd season. Original character was funny, yet likeable. Replacement was unlikable and not a good pretender.
Man I need to watch this
this is my overall favorite show, its an awesome one
The transfer of consciousness is impossible without the transferring of the brain itself.
Goddamn i loved that show, i hope it gets second season. Gotta read the book too!
Love this series especially Edgar Poe. I hope it’s renewed with Joel as Takeshi again and not someone else. Because of the “sleeves” they could change up the actors every season. I hope you do another video on this show.

This show was waaaaay ahead of it's time. I'm glad we got the chance to witness it in this day and age.
i love Altered Carbon
Can't wait for season 2.
what if time travel was possible in this universe tho? like future you in a different sleeve meets past you? even freakier

Bat Pool even an idea of double sleeving and putting stacks on ice gave me the reason to question how much our mind values(and not the body). But questions about soul, spirit, afterlife?! Damn, you don't need a freaking time machine in this universe if you haven't figured out what to do in this current situation yet!)
Nice video!
